Awesome

By Thomas

from Sealy, Texas

I got the sunburst model and am very satisfied with the purchase. The sound is just what I am looking for in a bass, deep and rich and the bass screams to be put in a larger amp than I have. However, if there was one thing that had me puzzled was that if the bass was checked before it got shipped, someone forgot to tighten the set screws on the volume and tone knobs on the bass. I didn't see the need to get mad about it, so I tightened them and have not had any other problems. I did get the 2 year repair warranty as insurance, but I don't think I will need it.

Great Bass!

By CARLO TANORI

from W. Covina, CA

Bought the Candy Apple Red model with a maple fingerboard. Love it. I did do a couple of mods though.... replaced the pickup with a Nordstrand NP4 pickup, and replaced the bridge with a Hipshot A bridge. Killin.

Very Pleasant Surprise - The Standard Precision is a good bass and a great value

By Thomas Braun

from Florissant, MO

I bought this new MIM Precision primarily as a project bass that I am planning on rebuilding, but I was really pleased with this bass out of the box. The neck has a great feel is very straight and solid. The frets were finished well (just about as good as my American Deluxe Jazz). The finish is very nice as well. What surprised me the most was how good the stock pickup sounds. Not as smooth as an older Precision, but it has a very punchy more "modern" sound. I will eventually change out parts because I like to rebuild basses, but I don't think anyone would be disappointed in this bass especially for what it costs.

It's what you'd expect!

By Seth McGuire

from Minneapolis, Mn

Long time Jazz bass player, first time P-bass. Gotta have that maple fretboard/neck on a black body. Had no idea what the stock pickups sound like, tossed in a set of active EMG's and called it good. Who needs a tone knob? Placed the super-secret vintage chrome pickup cover over the EMG's to add to the mystique (just like my other basses). Downside? I've always had to have the frets dressed on the Mexican versions, both guitar and bass. Upside? Guaranteed sound and durability. I play the sweet rock, country (shh!) and gore-festered grindcore. Awesome for all.

Standard P-Bass, Maple Fretboard -- Buy It!

By Thomas Braun

from Susanville, CA

I had wanted this bass for a long time. It's the same model (brown sunburst; maple fretboard) that John Entwistle played with the Who in the glory days of 1969-70, and I always loved the Ox's sound. Ordered at Reno, NV Guitar Center on New Year's Eve, 2012. Store personnel very helpful, as I traded in some used gear and paid the difference. Delivered to my home by UPS four business days later, which was acceptable, given the New Year's Day holiday intervening. Bass arrived in fine shape, no scratches or defects. Playable right out of the box; needed only a slight bridge adjustment for intonation. Neck and fretboard incredibly smooth; frets well-finished, no protruding metal. Well-balanced; I can play this bass for hours without fatigue. Sounds amazing; the P-Bass has only one sound, but it's THE sound. Reliability: Fender's reputation speaks for itself; you can go to war with this bass, and still play it. Leo Fender designed the P-Bass in 1951; 62 years later, no one has caused Fender to retire it. Good for any style: slap; funk; rock; jazz; country; R&B; metal; surf -- if you've listened to music since 1951, you've heard the Standard P-Bass. And the price is right. BUY THIS BASS!
