I bought this bass a few years back and it has been great! Not only does this bass have the signature Jaco Pastorius sound, it also holds multiple other sounds just by twisting a few knobs! Not only is this bass very versitile, but fender got everything else right on this bass to. It stays in tune, it has ajustable action, it has a very fast neck, and this bass is affordable (which is always a plus)! So if you are looking for a bass that is right up there at the pro level, extremely versitile, great quality, and affordable, then buy the fender jazz bass.

The jazz bass is classic, the MIM Fenders are, well, not so classic. It is worth the extra money for the Made in America series. Most of the MIM have a poor set-up with cheap electronics. Electonics are usually noisy. If it is all you can afford, get it to play, but you will want something nicer later. Hey, it beats all the Squier stuff hands down, though.

Worth It!!!!!!

By Ed

Comments about Fender Standard Jazz Bass:

I bought my bass in 2000 just to take on gigs where I would have to leave my equipment in the trunk afterwards. I didn't want to leave my Pedulla MVP in the car. I have played the Fender as my main bass ever since. I did however change the pickups to Dimarzio Model J's (small investment but not necessary). All in all great sound from slapping to plucking to picking. Great highs, lows and so many sound variations without breaking the bank.

My God....

By Doublev

Comments about Fender Standard Jazz Bass:

Wow. Just wow. This bass is amazing. I just got mine yesterday for Christmas and, my god, this thing is amazing!I used to have one of the cheap, beginner basses off of eBay, and this thing just outnumbers it in every which way. This bass is an easy slapper and has a good growly tone when you set it right. The only downer is the strings. The stock strings aren't very good. Slap some D'Addarios on and your good to go. This is a very good 'waste' (as my parents called it) of money.

Awsome Bass, Good Price

By TheOwls

Comments about Fender Standard Jazz Bass:

I got this bass at the beginning of the summer as my first bass after borrowing a friends Kramer for a while. It was a HUGE step up in quality sound and even looks. I own the Brown Sunburst design and i still cannot stop admiring it. It has a fast neck, and many options to fiddle with the sound. Dont be fooled by the Jazz in its name, i play Rock, Indie, Alt and Jazz and it sounds amazing for each genre. I give it 5 stars and would definatly recommend purchasing it. Awsome Bass for the Price. If you want Quality purchase this Bass or its sister Bass, the Precision Bass, both are good, but this one is by far my favorite!

When i first sat down with this bass i instintly fell in love. This bass has so many great qualitys to it. The neck is really really smooth, you can shred on this bass. Its not a heavy bass. The sound is Amazingly great. I would def recommend this bass, it has an awsome price, an awsome sound and an awsome feel, way better then allot of other basses. So if you are good enough to own one of these then I would say go buy it!

Comments about Fender Standard Jazz Bass:

I got this bass in arctic white about a month ago. it is the best bass i have played (aside from musicman stingray) but its less than half the price. It has great tone, sound, and is easy to pick, strum, pluck, slap, and tap. i would reccomend this bass to anyone!

Great bass - a winner at the price !

By Exshellente

from Dublin, Republic of Ireland.

Comments about Fender Standard Jazz Bass:

Was on vacation in S.L.C. this week so decided to check out the MIM (as the MIM series are not available in Ireland at present). Originally I was interested in a Standard Precision - however I found the tone/volume options with the MIM P-basses I tried somewhat disappointing (zero change until you hit around 8-9 on the pots - kinda like the inverse of Spinal Tap's 11). SO - I was VERY impressed with the Standard Jazz. Because I was taking it back to Ireland I took some time to test it and it passed. Great range, great tone, lovely sustain and the action was ideal (for my shortish fingers). No dodgy frets, no irritating rattle. In fact, it plays and sounds a LOT better than other, more expensive, mainstream production models I've looked at. In a nutshell, I reckon the MIM J-bass is a winner. I would like to have a pre-installed thumbrest (as I seldom use a pick and never thumb-slap) - that's my only quibble (not a quibble, more a request). Overall - nice one, Mr. Fender. Buy and Enjoy!

I LOVE IT!!!

By Gregory

Comments about Fender Standard Jazz Bass:

This bass is absolutely amazing, it has a great, rich tone that will rock your house. I consider buying this guitar especially with a 100W Ampeg amp, it sounds incredible. Believe me you can't go wrong with this bass.

Great High End

By Garrett

from Kansas City, MO

Comments about Fender Standard Jazz Bass:

If you love a growly high end sound, check this out. First of all, this bass is great for any type of music. The Neck pickup is for deeper tones, the bridge pickup has trebly sound and you can control the volume for each and the tone as well. Personally, I go for the geddy lee tone, which you can easlity achieve. Once again, the high end is very thin and higher notes are very easy to hear. The lower notes sound just as good. Try it out.

No wonder the jazz bass is the best bass in the world.

By Playin4God

Comments about Fender Standard Jazz Bass:

I got my Fender Standard Jazz Bass yesterday. It is in midnight wine and absolutely a masterpiece. The neck is probably my favorite thing about this bass. It is very slim and fast. You can get your hands around it very easily. The sounds that you can get out of it are amazing. Any kind of music you may be playing you can get the tone you want from this bass. If you are looking at getting a new bass, I strongly recommend this bass. You will not be disappointed with it.
