Comments about Fender Special Edition '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Picked it up today. Tried a few others including a tele and other Stratocasters. Kept going back to this one classic sound Love the color Blue. Crisp bridge and mellow neck. The middle clean and useful. Love this sound Have a CIJ 50's re-issue and a USA Nitro. Love them all This one will be worth the buy. As you all know All Stratocasters are different. So do what I do get a few for test driving.

Comments about Fender Special Edition '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Back in the day I saw this model at Musicland in Seattle, unfortunately my mother wouldn't let me buy it and it was discontinued by the time I could get one without needing permission.

When I learned there was going to be a reissue I couldn't resist and had to get one. Granted it is right handed but I play it upside down like I did before I could get decent left handed models.

The guitar is pretty much the way I remember the original one I had coveted, it basically satisfies an unfilled 45 year old desire and is a really nice guitar in its own right.

      Outstanding Addition to Tone Collection

      By Dave

      from Chicago Suburbs

Comments about Fender Special Edition '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

With two Maple Fretboard Strats already in the collection (Amer. Std., MIM Standard modified with Clapton 25dB/TBX kit), I was looking to add a rosewood fretboard version. I've always been a sucker for the look of the classic 50's/60's "Custom Color" models that used the same color paint as cars of the day.

Stopped by the GC in Arlington Hts., IL to see what was available and found they had all three colors of the SE Series 60's Strat on the wall. While the Lilac and Canary Diamond Yellow were good looking, the Cerulean Blue grabbed me and just wouldn't let go! The contrast of the dark rosewood fingerboard against the light blue and mint pickguard is simply stunning!

The first thing I noticed was the 7.25" radius on the neck. A deeper curve than the other two Strats in the herd, I found the shorter radius actually a little easier to fret chords, and no problem for lead work. Very comfortable to play.

Fit & finish is top notch, and the classic design hardware intonates and holds tune just fine. Setup right out of the box was pretty good -- A couple of very minor tweaks to pickup height and bridge saddles made it perfect.

Pickup tone quality is what you would expect from a 60's style guitar. Solid output and nice balance between lows and highs with plenty of Strat "Cluck" on the in-between positions. As a perpetual tweaker, I took it a step further by installing a set of Fender Custom Shop 69's into it that I had in the parts box to give the guitar a full-on classic vibe. (I also discovered by doing this that Fender did not scrimp on the electronics -- High quality CTS pots, switching, wiring are standard equipment under the hood!)

Bonus -- High quality, Uber-padded Fender gig bag is included.

An excellent looking, great sounding, easy playing Strat at a great price -- I highly recommend this one!!!

Comments about Fender Special Edition '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I walked into my local GC to pick up a cab and walked out with this guitar in 'Lilac'.

I saw it sitting on a floor stand and it caught my eye. I always wanted an Olympic White Strat w/ mint pickguard and rosewood fretboard. It felt REALLY nice so I decided to plug it in. I ran it into my home rig, which is an Orange Dark Terror into an Orange PPC212 closed back cab. I played with the amp set with almost no gain to full gain.

I was amazed at how it nailed that 60's Strat sound. It plays as well as all the American Standards I have ever played and honestly sounded better to me.

It wasn't until a GC salesman told me that the guitar was not Olympic White, but rather 'Lilac', that I noticed an EVER so faint lavender tint. I got 15% off for Labor Day and got 24 months interest free financing on my GC card.

If you're looking for a Strat that scratches that 1960's itch, look no further. This is deinitely the guitar you've been looking for. The fit and finish is also as good as any USA Fender.

Does not have "soft v profile" neck

Comments about Fender Special Edition '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Strolled into local GC and found this new offering from Fender. Apparently this model is exclusive to GC and will come in 6 retro colors from the 60's. I was attracted as I have been looking for a strat in Vintage Yellow. They are calling this color 'Canary Diamond'. That being said, I was extremely impressed with the playability and fit and finish of this ax. I played mostly though a Fender Blues Junior and it was really hard to get a bad sound out of this combo (aside from my playing ability). I have been playing American stats for the last 15 years so this is my reference point. I think the frets are thinner, not medium/jumbo which come with the American necks. Anyway the guitar has that vintage mojo going on. Plays great. Seems really solid and well built. The neck is definitely not a soft-v as is stated in the description on GC's site. The 50's special edition does. The neck is "C" shaped.
