I've had this head for about 3 months now, so I'll share some knowledge. Let's start with the cons: 1) This head does not offer a whole lot of tone options. You can find a few pleasing settings, but it takes a lot of trial and error. I'm only noting this as a con because it was advertised as a versatile head, while in actuality it is pretty simple 2) Not rackmountable. Doesn't kill me, but it'd be nice 3) The built in overdrive is pretty weak, and should not be used a replacement for your overdrive pedal HOWEVER, this head has lots of pros: 1) Reliability! I've used this for at least 20 shows and it has not failed me once. Never overheats or cuts out 2) Carrying case is a HUGE plus. Protects it and makes travel easy 3) Power! The amp is rated for 350 watts but it can sure pack a punch when you crank the gain. Definitely loud enough for any small-medium venue 4) Selectable mid-range options. The two-knob midrange saves this amp's otherwise simple EQ options, without which would lack severely in tone. Choose a frequency and either cut it or boost it. Awesome! All in all, this amp is not for those looking for some Ampeg-esque tone. Maybe a pedal will save this amp (I'm about to try it with a Tech 21 Bass driver--we'll see!) However, if you need something with enough power and reliability for practice & gigs at a good price, this is your best bet. 4 stars because the tone was not as desirable as advertised. Still recommend for someone who needs a cheap bass head
I paired this amp with the Rumble 112 cabinet and am very pleased. It's a great sounding, super light weight rig! Plenty of tonal variety and I love the footswitch to activate the built in overdrive. 350 watts, 6 pounds...a lot to like here!
