I've owned this little amp for about two months now having bought it in a panic when my small venue amp gave out. My first gig with it was a mid-sized blues/jazz venue. The band had two horns, guitar, and keyboards. And despite getting kind of rowdy on a few tunes, I was amazed that I never had to crank the volume up. It was steady, responsive and very impressive. The sound is amazingly vintage Fender bass. There's even a "vintage" (and contour and bright) button that is supposed to, I assume, enhance the Fender sound. But I found these buttons a bit annoying as they do little more than give you options that quite frankly were a little weak, in my opinion. What I found to be the true heart and soul of Rumble 200 is the equalization - bass, low mid, high mid, and treble. They're rotary dials with indents at the six o'clock position. Rather than nipping away adding to the bass or treble frequencies, these mid settings actually do dial in their frequencies to such an exacting state that they truly give you the ability to dial in wide array of sounds. Turn the bass dial to nine o'clock, and the low-mid to three and be prepared to say wow. Or dial in the overdrive "channel." on neutral EQ but with a bump in the hid-mid. Yikes! The Rumble 200 brought a whole new experience to my fretless bass. I could get as much or as little "growl" as I wanted without having to give up a fine deep tone. The upper registers are exacting, brilliant and clear as a bell. And on the fretted bass, the bottom end was a true note-for-note reproduction of that buttery "Fender bass" sound rather than muddy cover up like get with a lot of smaller amps. And again the highs were amazingly clear and brilliant. I've never used overdrive, not my style. But this amp has started to change my mind. The 200 offers a what they call an overdrive circuit which for all intents and purposes is a second channel (footswitch) which I've got to tell you is a gas to play with; it's just way too much fun to ignore. Add in all the expected extras like FX loop, speaker out, (but you won't need an extra cab with the onboard 15 in Eminence,) XLR out, mini-plug auxiliary in and headphones out, and at 35 lbs and the price you just can't go wrong because, in my opinion, Fender got this right.

this is a 140 watt combo UNLESS you add a 4 ohm extension cab. The TC bg250 12 pumps 250 watts into it's 12" speaker. There is too much treble content even with the horn off! There is no Pre/Post eq option on the balanced out. There is no blend on the fx loop. I would happily give up the drive option AND bright switch for the addition of the options I mentioned above.

Best in the $400 range.

Comments about Fender Rumble 200 1x15 200W Bass Combo Amp:

I gigged with this amp last night. I was pretty happy with it. Though we're not a metal band or anything we do get loud at times and this amp delivered. Lots of power and really clean if you need it to be. I used the XLR out to our PA though. This amp is quite the chameleon. Lots of different sounds. Super light. I'm done carrying the heavy stuff. If you want to buy new and not go over $400 this is the one. Plus the 5 year transferable warranty? You can't go wrong.

No regrets so far

By Sonny

Comments about Fender Rumble 200 1x15 200W Bass Combo Amp:

This is a solid bass amp. I have yet to find the "catch" or the Achilles' Heel with the thing. The tone is warm with present mids, the EQ is powerful and the input gain provides a useful range of hardness to the tone. The power amp is muscular with fast transient control of the speaker and it runs cool even when worked hard. Digital switching power amps seem to have matured at this point in their history and this one doesn't do anything weird or cold / hard to the sound. The speaker doesn't want to get flappy. The cabinet seems tightly loaded and tuned for the traditional bass fundamental, not super low subwoofer wind. FOH engineers like the DI output and usually run it flat, satisfied with what they hear. It's a handsome amp with its classic Fender cloth, logo and black tolex -- the Rumble now looks like a Fender. I've used mine regularly for several months and it seems rugged enough. The 37 pound weight and compact size are really great. The frequency response doesn't go quite as low as my Acoustic B200 combo, nor is it quite as loud. But it has a thick Fender tone and it is a loud amp in its own right - much louder than you'd think by looking at its size. I use it all the time since I got it. Here's hoping it lasts. I'll have to use it for ten years to find out if it lasts ten years...

Comments about Fender Rumble 200 1x15 200W Bass Combo Amp:

The Fender Rumble 200 gets a lot of things "right".
From the start, it has power. Enough power to give you a nice bass sound with a band! Clarity that is has no "fluff tones", your sound stays tight and focused. But the real pleasure is the amp's light weight.
Finally, we have a bass amp that won't break your back or your wallet.
The Rumble 200 looks like an old Fender amp with it's gray grille cloth, vintage knobs and amp logo.
I really love the whole concept of this amp. Fender has done it again...like only they can.

Comments about Fender Rumble 200 1x15 200W Bass Combo Amp:

I have been playing bass professionally for 30+ years and every bass rig I have owned had has been extremely heavy. My Fender Rumble 200 weighs 33 lbs., but can easily keep up with the heavier tube combo amp systems. If you want a punchy bass amp that is light-weight to play at gigs that utilize reasonable volume control, the Fender Rumble 200 amp is the way to go. Go to a local music store and try it for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

Comments about Fender Rumble 200 1x15 200W Bass Combo Amp:

I was waiting for the 200 watt Rumble with the 15 inch speaker to come out. It was worth the wait. I ordered it online on a Saturday and got it on Monday evening. So delivery speed was fantastic. I unboxed the amp and plugged her in. Sounded great. Just like a Fender amp should sound. I have been using a Kustom 100 watt amp with 2 10 inch speakers and a tube preamp. The Rumble 200 sounds many more times greater than the Kustom. So far I have only used the Rumble 200 for practice. Halloween night we have a gig so it will get the first live performance test then. But I have no doubt its gonna be a great gig amp too.

Comments about Fender Rumble 200 1x15 200W Bass Combo Amp:

This combo amp is a great choice for small to medium venues, and because of the XLR output it works seamlessly with professional grade PA systems for large venue use. The sound quality ranges from a rich, deep classic bass to a sharp cutting edge tone with variable distortion. The switched horn and ground lift are nice features, as is the ability to add a second cabinet (like the Rumble 2x10 for example). It is a very versatile combo amp that's easily transported and a pleasure to use.

Comments about Fender Rumble 200 1x15 200W Bass Combo Amp:

I worked myself nearly to death over the summer on my grandparent's ranch so I could afford this amp, and I can very well say that this amp is worth it. In my house, I can only turn this thing up to about one or two notches worth of volume before the window panes begin to vibrate, and when the time is right, I know I have plenty more power in that amp to give me whatever other volume I need. It has a massive, powerful sound, yet with a lot of control, including a four-band Equalizer and an optional horn as well as three voices e.g. Bright, Contour, and Vintage, all of which help to give you whatever sound you may want. My advice: don't think, just buy.

Comments about Fender Rumble 200 1x15 200W Bass Combo Amp:

Having been a bass player for 50 years I have used them all, and I have used Peavey and Fender mostly. I tested this 200W 15" and the 500W - 2-10" combo when I set out to buy a new amp. I read all the reviews on here and I have to say that some miss the mark. Forget about watts and power; this amp is really loud and very deep in bass. It will fill any bar or hall you can play with a great deep sound. The three selection buttons on here DO make a difference in the sound. The vintage produces a fatter deeper sound than just the normal mode. Without this, the bass is weak, even on full 10 setting. It does sound a lot like the old 4-12" cabinet I used to use in the 70-80's period. It can do any style of music you play. From Jazz to Acid Rock. You can do smooth or slap with this amp/combo. The groups I play with do all forms of music, and do all kinds of venues from raucous bars to wine tastings, so I needed an amp that would perform in every situation and this one did it. The other selection button that I use is the contour. I really like this setting when I have to fill a loud bar setting with deep bass. The contour setting adds the deepness to every string on my 4 string bass. I hate having deep bass only on the E and A strings. Then when playing on the D and G strings, it comes up a little skinny and bright. With the contour setting on you get the deep bass of the E string even on the G string. So this opens up the fret board a lot. You can go all across the neck at the G 3rd fret and stay in that 2 fret area and play the scale of G in a deep warm tone, instead of moving up and down E and A strings to find that tone. The one setting on the amp that I like the most is the the Low Mid knob. Now you can bring up the deeper tone for the A and D strings without making the mid-range come out hollow sounding. This is a big improvement over the Peavey amps I have now and have used in the past.

Used at a gig right out of the box. Plenty of power and great sound for a medium event

Good value for practice and small venues. The horn and added power over the Rumble 100 were worth it.

Perfect Amp. Sounds great and warm-light but powerful-
Highly recommanded - 4 out of 5- because when it was picked up at the store , was unpacked without the box and
                          documentation. :-(
