I purchased the Fender Rumble 500 a few weeks ago and used it for the first time today at an outdoor event. I was totally pleased with this amp. It had way more power I would need. The main reason I purchased it was its lightweight 36 pounds. I can carry my bass and this amp in one trip. I had the master volume at "2"and I was plenty loud. I was totally pleased with it. I always loved the classic Fender look (I have a 1966 Bassman as well, and a Fender 112 Plus).
I actually purchased the Fender Rumble 200 (1-15", 200 watts) before this and later noticed that the Rumble 500 (2-10", 500 watts) utilized the same exact cabinet, yet for $100 more I have more than twice the power at the same weight. My local Guitar Center had the Rumble 200 and Rumble 100 (1-12", 100 watts, 22 pounds) in the showroom and, because I wanted something with power, I purchased the Rumble 200. If, the Rumble 500 was there, I would have purchased it at the time.
I'm considering purchasing the Rumble 100 for rehearsal use. At 100 watts and 22 pounds weight, it is a great portable amp. Depending on your situation, I would not hesitate to recommend any of the Fender Rumble bass amps.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS: I would prefer the controls at the front of the amp, not the rear. I would also add an AC outlet (for devices, such as pedal tuner, pedal board, etc). I would also add a compartment on the back to keep, at least, the amp power cable and possibly, accessories (tuner, power strip, etc). Just a thought.

I bought this amp thinking it would blow away my ACOUSTIC b200. This amp is said to have 350 watts by itself (no external cab, just the combo itself) When I turned the gain up to about ten o clock and the master volume to about one o clock, I figured I would get moster volume out of this baby. It wasnt nearly as loud as I had hoped, and the speakers sounded farty (like when an amp cant produce enough power to push them). I ran my acoustic b200 in a side-by-side comparison,(using the same bass, an american standard p bass v) and the acoustic was TWICE AS LOUD and sounded cleaner than the rumble 500. Keep in mind, this amp only 200 watts, and the fender rumble has 350? Something doesnt add up to me... I never thought I would give a bad review for a fender product, but this has proved me wrong!

Comments about Fender RUMBLE 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

I'm very pleased with this combo. At the moment, I play mostly blues, and I was able to get an ideal tone for my bass (tweeter off and contour selected), deep, full and loud. Those 2 x 10s put out a lot of sound. I've only played small venues with it, but there is plenty of power to spare. My only negative is I still haven't figured out how to use the overdrive effectively, but I haven't had a need for it, anyway. At 36 pounds, it's very transportable, so no complaints there.

Comments about Fender RUMBLE 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

I been playing bass guitar for about 20 years now. I recently owned a Yamaha Combo bass amp 440 watts. That did not have the punch and power. I sold it. I decided to try the Ampeg bass combo BA210V2 2X10 450 watts. It was ok, but honestly I was not impressed. It lacked the low end punch and power. Some of my friends asked me to try a fender rumble bass combo amp. So I went to the Guitar store and tried out a Fender rumble 200 watt combo, amazing! The sales man asked me what kind music I played. I play old Metal, hard rock, black sabbith, ozzy, motor head, megadeath, metallica, cream, etc. So I decided to get the fender rumble 500 watt combo! wow it is an amazing amp! awesome low end, awesome punch! very powerful bass combo amp! it is really what I have been looking for in a bass combo amp. I use a Sterling by Music Man S.U.B. Ray4 Electric Bass Guitar and it sounds amazing!

first of all I been playing bass for 20 years now and I recently picked it back up. I always used Ampeg combo amps and Yamaha combo amp. First forget Yamaha combo amps they do not have the quality sound and they do not have the punch. I recently bought at Guitar Center a Ampeg BA210V2 2X10 450 watt combo amp. At first it sounded great but then it grew dull and it lacked the low end punch. I brought it back and explained to them what I was looking for and what sound I was looking for, so they hooked me up with Fender Rumble 500 watt combo amp. Let me tell you, this amp smokes! it sounds awesome! it gives me the low growl and punch I was looking for! it is an amazing amp!!! my bass guitar I use is a Sterling by Music Man S.U.B. Ray4 and it sounds amazing! I play old hard rock and metal like Led zeppelin, Metallica, Megadeath, Motor head, Back sabbith, ozzy, cream, Dire Straits, zz top, DIO, Triumph, Rush.
