Feature-Packed, But.....

By T-Bone

from Durham, NC

Comments about Fender Quilt Top Jazz Bass 24:

At first glance this bass is packed with features that would make it appear to make it a bargain. Here's the pros and cons of this bass. The Pros: The Seymour-Duncan active electronics allow you to dial in just about any tone you want. In fact, this axe makes my old Crate practice amp gain a whole new personality. The slap switch allows you to play what I like to call "funk-a-licious grooves." The finish on this bass looks good, and from what I can tell, it would hold up very well especially for gigs. The Cons: Although this bass looks good, and has great electronics, I was very disappointed with the acoustics. First off, the factory does not set these basses up at all, no matter what they tell you. Second, no matter how you set this bass up, you will always get fret-buzz. Finally, I've already taken two Fender 24 Jazz basses back to the store and had them sent back to Fender. I'm waiting on delivery of my 3rd as I write this review. Overall: If I had it to do over, I would not purchase this bass. For an instrument in this price range the quality is just unacceptable in my opinion. I've had basses that cost far less that had far fewer problems. This bass does have some nice features, but when its playability is so adversely affected by the way it handles, it's just not worth the hassle.

Great Sounding Bass, But....

By asdfjwpoeijfwaijp123

Comments about Fender Quilt Top Jazz Bass 24:

Just a quick warning...make sure you have a warranty. The active pickup/preamp thing is prone to breaking. DO NOT put the battery in the wrong way like I did (not even for a second) because it will fry the preamp, a costly and long repair. Seymour Duncan failed to include a part that would prevent the reverse flow of electricity from frying the preamp, so be REAL CAREFUL! Besides that its a great sounding bass with a lot of tones, plenty of frets, and is great for slap and other styles. I recommend it, just be real careful with the preamp battery placement

The Do-It-All Bass

By bass-for-hire

from Milwaukee, WI

Comments about Fender Quilt Top Jazz Bass 24:

I picked this up to get a lightweight 4-string as a back-up for my 5-string Warwick. For the last 6 months, I've played only this Jazz Bass. The bass needed a good set-up, but after I finished some adjustments and beat on this bass through a few shows a week, I love it. Put flatwounds on this baby and you're good to go. All styles, rock, funk, blues, r&b, all with just adjusting the knobs. I start the show and never need to touch my amp for new tones. I never have to tune this bass. I play it out, put it away, take it out and the tuning is locked. I've had numerous fellow bassists offer me more than I paid for this instrument. The price, the versatility, the looks and playability all make this the best Fender I have played. I wouldn't trade it for any other bass.

This bass is amazing!

Comments about Fender Quilt Top Jazz Bass 24:

I don't know what it is about this bass, but it makes me want to just congratulate the guys at Fender and anyone who was involved with the design or making of this bass. Maybe it's the great Fender tone, the excellent playability, the sweet looking quilt top, or maybe even the price, but whatever it is it's great. This bass sounds great, plays great, looks great, and is affordable. You'll have a lot of trouble looking for a bass this nice at this price. Buy this bass please if not for you then for the people that love you!

jazz bass 24 is the best

By conortheman

from austin, tx

Comments about Fender Quilt Top Jazz Bass 24:

I did a lot of shopping around when it came to upgrading my gear. THe jazz bass 24 was the most interesting bass I could find for the money. With active electronics and that extended neck anything became possible. The sounds I have been able to create with it has been awesome. Just the ability to create all the different harmonics with ease has been sweet. The basslines pickups do pick up a lot of sound and help even a pro bass player find great new sounds to put into those monster bass solos. And the beauty of it is worth the money. People and musicians walk up to me all the time and tell be how beautiful it looks. Looks may not be important, but it is nice. But with any new bass some tweaking is needed per bass player. I took care of some minor imperfections in the neck and dropped the pickups down a tad and it was perfect. Buy this bass and you wont regret it. It doesn't kill your wallet and adds such a marvelous sound to whatever type of music that you are playing.

AWESOME!

Comments about Fender Quilt Top Jazz Bass 24:

If your in the market for a good upgrade, as I was, and don't want to spend a fortune for a good bass, get this one. For starters, it plays great, and has a natural feel to it. There are almost limitless tone options with all of the knobs, which take a while to figure out, but when they are mastered, you can do awesome things with them. On top of all of that, this bass has a switch flip, which is usually not available on other models at this price. It also looks awesome. Get it and your not gonna regret it!

This bass wears many hats!

By Coop.

from Whittier, CA.

Comments about Fender Quilt Top Jazz Bass 24:

The Fender Quilt-Top Jazz Bass 24 is just the bass a musician like myself is looking for. This bass can handle some heavy funk riffs and also chill into a cool jazz vibe. It is very responsive to slap and pluck riffs. I am very pleased with my purchase, I think any bass player with a variety of styles in his back pocket will be pleased too!! Not a bad price for a bass with so many hats!
