In the playfully diminutive form of a vintage tabletop radio, the Pawn Shop Special Greta model is quite possibly the most unusual Fender tube amp ever. In fact, nobody would blame you if you saw a Greta and, not yet realizing its true identity, tried to tune in the local weather on it. But an amp is exactly what it is—a two-watt tabletop beauty with a 4” Special Design speaker, old-school VU meter with “clean to overload” indicator display and simple volume and tone controls. Its charmingly vintage-style enclosure has front and rear wood panels finished in bright red, gold-finished metal top and sides for increased shielding, “Greta” script badge on the front panel and tabletop feet. Under the hood and on the back panel, the Greta features a single 12AT7 output tube and 12AX7 preamp tube, with a 1/4” instrument jack and 1/4” line out jack (for preamp use with another amplifier). Greta produces a variety of low-volume clean and overdriven guitar tones, but even if you never plug a guitar into it, the 1/8” back-panel auxiliary input is perfect for iPod or other media player use, with great mono tube playback sound that’ll have you rocking right there at your desk.

I waited looking out the window .....At last the UPS man comes my 5 day wait is over. I tore into that box and there she was .....The the one I love....GRETA.....the answer to my prayers! First I looked her over..... very nice ...love the look but she needs a handle also needs some numbers on the control knobs......next I plug in the Les Paul I mess with the knobs and start jamin' this thing sounds great now for the test I plug into my Line6 and now I'm blown away ...Long story short if you can't afford a Delux reverb this setup sounds darn close for less than half cash .....I wish it had a Fender logo on it...GRETA will give you dirty sound you love....JB
I didn't even know this amp existed until I happen to catch it out if the corner of my eye at my local GC.I was looking for a small practice amp that sounded great at low volume for late night noodling when the family is in bed. I plugged it in and was very impressed. I noticed it had a ext. speaker output so I plugged it into an Egnater 12" cab and Wow it totally blew me away. Bought it, took it home and used it as a preamp into my Laney and was even more impressed. Great sound & tone with the ability to use the amp controls also. This thing is Awesome. Sounds good, looks good, very very cool! Love it!
This is a great little amplifier that would be perfect for someone needing a small amp that won't get you evicted. I have used it with both electric and acoustic guitars and it just sounds great no matter what I plug into it. It is very responsive with the guitars volume knob and can go from screaming distortion to clean as a whistle with the guitars controls. The amps volume and tone controls are very well voiced and it is easy to dial in a good tone. Plugged into a larger speaker cabinet this little guy rocks...my 4x10 cab really makes it sing. It can also be used as a pre-amp when placed in front of another amp to serious effect. Just be sure to have the Greta's volume and tone at zero and bring it up slowly to taste...WOW! Another use for this little chameleon is as a powered speaker system. Plugging my MP3 player into it and playing 50's and 60's R&R transports you back to the days of table-top tube radios. The VU meter is an interesting addition as well showing how hard the amp is being pushed, it is lit up by two L.E.D.'s that should last about forever. Yep I really like this little amp for what it is, a mini-treasure chest of surprises.
So amped on this thing. It has replaced my ihome ipod dock. It's awesome being able to listen to my mp3 player through this somewhat small all tube amp via its aux input. Mates with my strat very naturally. Solid tonal versatility using its tone knob. I recently connected an Orange PPC108 mini cab to it's speaker out jack and man does it sound sweet through this larger speaker...I can't wait to play some vinyl through it :)
