Overview

The new Pawn Shop series instruments draw inspiration from strange and storied pawn shop finds of the 1960s and ’70s, and emerge as all-new Fender guitars with a bold element of eccentricity—guitars that never were but could have been.

The Pawn Shop Fender '51 has a Stratocaster® body and a "C"-shaped Telecaster® neck, with a single-coil Texas Special™ neck pickup, Fender Enforcer™ humbucking bridge pickup and a dual-knob chrome control plate-a creative alchemy of diverse Fender components.

Features include maple fretboard with modern 9.5" radius and medium-jumbo frets, master volume control with push-pull coil split, three-position rotary pickup selector knob, '70s-style hard-tail Stratocaster bridge, white pickguard, vintage-style tuners and strap buttons, and deluxe gig bag.

Surprisingly usable with good tone choices

By Dennis Brown

from Lexington, NC

Excellent feel, nice rolled edges on the neck of the MIJ ones. Humbucker is pretty solid, slightly brighter than a LP would be but just as nice for gain. For the neck, they picked the right pickups, nice and thick blues tones, but plenty of highs. PUs are good enough that most gigging players will find them just fine without replacing. With split coils, the guitar actually sounds good, not like it is a compromise at all. Very Tele like. Same for the bridge pickup in single coil mode. Not quite a Tele, but close enough. The hardtail is solid and great for those of us that hate tremolos. The pickup selector is odd but can be swapped if you don't like. All and all, a solid guitar with exceptional craftsmanship going into it. I would guess it is more of a rock guitar that also does a lot of nice cleans, but on the whole, makes a reasonable Swiss Army knife guitar for any gigging musician who doesn't want to keep swapping guitars out in the middle of a gig.

Straight Up HotRod

By BURT ARTHUR

from East Spanaway/Tacoma Wa

...If I were going to be getting a new Guitar this would be it...The Blonde on Blonde is esquisite...with the Black pick guard what a great accent...I'm not a fan of the Telecaster but this verson of the Strat goes well with the Tele neck...just enough difference to make this 'stand out' from a standard Stratocaster...and that my friends makes it a Production HotRod for me! Peace!

Amazing Piece of Gear

By Stephen Olszewski

from San Francisco CA

This is the guitar I've been looking for - Enforcer humbucker at the bridge to pump out that sizzling tele sound, Texas Special at the neck for sweet singing Knopfler-esque lines, thin, fast tele neck, hardtail string-thru strat body. Pulling up the volume knob splits the coil for that tight mean thing... For blues, country, or straight up rock-and-roll, this is your weapon. I've had it for over a year now, and still marvel at how perfect this guitar is. I can't think of a thing to complain about - 5 stars.
