Got this as a birthday present a few months ago, and I can honestly say that I could not be more satisfied with it. Once you get past the learning curve of figuring out how all the functions work, this amp allows for limitless possiblities. The only thing missing is a loop function (which is easily solved by purchasing a loop pedal). The sound is crystal clear at low and high outputs. Extraordinary array of options and settings to create any kind of sound you are looking for. It's possible to play literally any genre of music with the number of options that are available. I love the fact that you can go in and deep edit each individual stomp-box and effect right there on the amp. The display and controls are simple and clear. It's also extremely versatile. Low volumes are still clear and are great for a "bedroom amp," the USB-out is great for home and studio recording, and with 100 watts, it's definetely loud enough to rock out smaller gigs. All in all great product that I am sure I will be using for a long, long time.

First off if your a jazz player, I am at times, run from this amp as fast as you can. It has no ability to produce a decent clean sound. Now for the rest of us, mostly rockers. I have had this amp for five days now and I am still trying to complete the programing. I have 15 hours in so far and nothing satisfactory is comming from the amp. It has a large variety of voicings, about 100, but each has to be tuned to your particular guitar and string set-up.It does have plenty of power. If you have your own pedals then this amp is a waste of your time. If you have no pedals then this amp gives you a lot. One last note this amp does not work well with loop stations.

What a deal

By Frank

from Santa Clara Ca.

I have a Marshall DSL40C and the Boss ME-80 and I will sell them both. This Fender is so much fun and SOOOO versatal . I can just set up the first 10 choices out of 100 they way I want and play play play! The sound on my Strat thru this amp is amazing! Im not that good but this amp gives my that warm feeling and a lot of hope for the future. If your on the fence get off and buy it you will not be disappointed. I bought the 3 and when my brother heard the tone and distortion over the phone he bought the 4 and he loves it. Thanks GC

Great amp for under $350

By Matt

from Castle Rock, CO

I started with a Mustang 1 (v1), so I knew I was getting a good modeling amp. (I will say now that I can't speak for tube and modeling comparisons, as I have never owned a tube amp). I play an epiphone les paul and it sounds great through it. (as many say, try to stick with passive pickups through this). Pro's- really good sounding for the price. The twin reverb with a compresser and delay pedal (built in) still surprises me how good it sounds. Just how many things can be adjusted, 100 presets that can be customized, diatonic pitch shift effect, ability to connect to p.a., which honestly, to play live with a heavier, more metal/hard rock tone with a drummer, is the the best/only way for this to sound good for high gain. Or miking the amp works too. Foot switch options are nice. Con's- aforementioned high gain issue, very short (4-5') power cable (can use extension cord though). There may be almost too much to tweak for some people. The british 80's amp model (and that model in the mustang 1) has no sustain at all. Overall, I really like it. The Fender amp models sound great.

VERY Surprised ! Fender Mustang 3 V2

By Luke

from Greenville, SC

I'm a "tube" amp lover and have been for a very long time. In recent years, everyone seems to have gone to the pedal boards or modeling amps and I just couldn't handle the tones. The clean tones were flat with no dynamics or warmth and the distortions sounded like a chainsaw to me. I have a bad back and was tired of having my back go out handling my tube amp so I decided I was going to have to get a lighter amp and just learn to deal with the tone deficit. I started researching different amp types and came across the Mustang series amps. Seemed like "maybe" this would work ... OK. I went to GC and sat down and tried it. Lots of the presets are useless in my opinion but there were a few that caught my attention. I played around with a few of them and I started to get excited. I don't need 3 million different sounds. I need and look for a certain tone to hopefully continue being an individual. I believe I've found it with this amp. All the effects and more I'd ever use and I'm able to adjust the amp settings to get what I want (Sag,Bias...etc). I never would've believed it nor would anyone who knows me.... but I "L O V E" this amp. I've not played a gig yet but sitting beside my tube amp, I've matched the tones and I really can't tell the difference. I AM HAPPY!!! This amp also weighs half as much and my back is breathing a sigh of relief !!! I do have a "tech-support" background so this is easy as pie to me but really...the setup is very straight forward and shouldn't be a problem for the majority of people. I "WILL" be adding the 4 button switch though...

Love this amp

By JACOB

from Shreveport, LA

Recently bought a Squier Classic Vibe 50's strat in fiesta red and I have an old late 80's I believe Roland blues cube BC-60 and I felt like buying a new amp for my new guitar. Started shopping and looking around, watching youtube demos and Andertons Music demos of fender amps and decided on either a mustang II, a fender vaporizer (in red to match my guitar) or a superchamp x2. Went into stores and played all of them and decided on a mustang II for a practice amp and I was going to buy a vaporizer later for small venue gigs. Didn't have time to go into guitar center today on my lunch break cuz I was gonna buy the mustangs 2 today and buy the foot switch for it as we'll. was testing the 2 out and then I saw the mustang 3 in a gorgeous racing red color for just this year on limited run. AND IT WAS ONLY $270!!!!!!! So instantly I bought it. And I loooooove it, it's the same mustang 3 100 watt solid state amp in this article except in a beautiful color that matches fiesta red to a T lol. Even though I went through my local guitar shop instead of guitar center like I did for the new guitar I bought, I gotta say this amp blew me away when I heard the 100 watt version, I was sold instantly :)

Great Solid State Amp, as solid state goes....

By David Morrow

from Presque Isle

The sky is the limit with the fuse software as far as what you can program into this little powerhouse. Very loud amp, nice clean sound. But I guess I'm spoiled when it comes to sound. I'm used to my older Fender Super 210 which is a 65W tube amp with 2-10" spks. The tube amps simply have a warm tone I've yet to hear ANY solid state amp match. Even the Mustang III doesn't come close. I'm sadly disappointed with my purchase but its not the amps fault, its just that I'm spoiled to that rich, warm tube sound. Now, I just wish I could trade or sell this thing for a Hot Rod 40W tube amp with a single 12 speaker.

Stupid versatile, amazing tones

By Max Freudenberg

from Alpharetta, GA

I exchanged my Line 6 amp with some cash for this bad boy, and boy was I thrilled by this decision. I love that you can connect the amp with my computer and the switchboard makes switching tones a breeze. Just need to get that 4 button foot pedal and I'm golden. Great practice amp. Never gutting anything other than Fender for a practice amp again.

Get one before the price goes up

By Rick LVPG

from Allentown

Buy this amp before Fender raises the price on the Mustang line. I am a new player who thought all I wanted to do was play the blues. Bought a Strat and Blues Jr. After playing for a month, I used Guitar Centers excellent return policy to exchange the Blues Jr. for this Mustang. IMHO, the sound quality is much better. Better low end and much clearer, open sound. The added software is nothing short of incredible, albeit, downloading, authorizing and learning will take a bit of time and effort. Within 24 hours, I was building my own preset sounds and recording my practice sessions with my computer?with NO ADDITIONAL PURCHASING. It is all included with the amp. Add the all the loaded preset sounds, with all the downloadable ones, to the ones you can make on your own and you have Fenders best kept secret. The options can seem overwhelming. Not only can all amp adjustments be made, but you can also change the speaker cabinet sounds for each amp. Amazing. There is one review, stating the lack of clean sound. It has incredible clean sounds. But, the review touches on the amps biggest challenge?YOU NEED TO READ THE DIRECTIONS AND LEARN THE SOFTWARE. Out of the box, the 100 presets have all options peddles, delays, stomp engaged fully. If you just take it out of the box, plug in your guitar, then spin some dials [as you would with a tube amp], chances are all you will hear is noise. Take some time with the package and it will give you anything you want in guitar sound?plus let you record your sessions?for $300. Get one before they are $500 next year.

Great modelling amp

By NATHAN PREUSS

from Knoxville, TN

I give the Mustang III v.2 five stars. That's five stars for a modelling amp, not against tube amps. If you want one true sound a tube amp is probably what you want. If you want versatility for less money than you'd have to spend on multiple amps and effects then this is what you're looking for. I've been playing guitar for a few years I'm probably an intermediate player. I play music across half a dozen genres so this is a very cost-effective way to get many different sounds.

great amp for the price!!

By aBEL ORTIZ

from vegas

I am not a pro guitar player but I was really doing some deep research about amps and power and about solid state and tubes, and for my budget and for what this amp can do is great. I was planning to buy an amp and an effects pedal but with this mustang 3 I got the whole package. It is loud and i have been only playing in level 4 and it has enough presets and a way to change them if I want to. The only observation is that the pedal that come with it is only two button and once you get the amp i feel i want to buy the 4 button switch so i can have more control of it while playing. For some reason I still wonder if I should have bought the mustang 4 just for the heck, only because is bigger but I know is too much amp for me.
