Overview

Fender introduces the Mustang Floor guitar multi-effects pedal, its first ever multi-effects unit; a versatile high-performance floor unit that delivers pro-level amp modeling, effects and artist preset sounds in a richly varied wealth of musical styles. And you don’t have to be a tech expert to use the Mustang Floor. It’s easy to use right out of the box.

A natural offshoot of Fender's Mustang series amplifiers (basically a Mustang amp without the power amp and speaker), the Mustang Floor is designed for a variety of applications, only one of which is a great multi-effects unit for any basic guitar amp that puts more than three dozen digital effects at your feet. It’s also a modeling preamp with low-impedance speaker-emulated outputs for running direct to a PA system, a modeling preamp with line-level outputs for use with a power amp and speakers, a silent practice system with stereo headphone output and auxiliary input perfect for playing along with an iPod or other media player, and a fantastic tone machine for direct-to-digital USB recording.

Mustang Floor features include nine footswitches and a solid aluminum treadle-style control pedal, intuitive Mustang III control panel and LCD window, 12 amp models, 37 effects, 100 onboard factory and user presets, “individual stompbox” mode in which amp models can be bypassed, headphone output and auxiliary input, dual XLR and dual 1/4" line outputs with level control (outputs can be programmed for optimal response with PA system, power amp or guitar amp), chromatic tuner, and easy USB connectivity for high-quality low-latency audio output and interface with free Fender FUSE application. Fender FUSE software, included as a free download, offers on-screen parameter control, deep editing, “hidden” parameters, unlimited preset storage, easy firmware upgrades and additional free content from Fender, Fender artists and other users worldwide. Additional control available with optional EXP-1 pedal.

Great for the price

By Joseph Mancuso

from Weirton, WV

This is a great multi-effects pedal. The only reason I gave this pedal 4 stars is they put the compressors and wah on the same setting as the distortion pedals and you can only use one instance of these settings. Luckily the amp models all sound great and you can work around this easily. This is one of the best pedals out there in this price range.

The ultimate value in floorboard effects units!

By Joel Anderson

from St. Peters, MO

At the new price point, the Mustang Floor is simply the best bang for the buck as far as effect pedals go! I defy anyone to find better Fender amp models in any unit on the market and the VOX and Marshall models are very good as well. Unit is rounded out with convincing Mesa Dual Rec and Peavey 5150 models for great metal tones... do not believe it if anyone tells you this Fender unit can't get heavy! The Mustang Floor also gets kudos, from me at least, for being extremely easy and intuitive to use. The users manual is actually fairly short and you will be dialing in patches in no time. The board has all the effects you really need and cuts out endless obscure effects and synths that few people actually use contained in the far more complicated (and expensive) floorboards out there. The unit is very well built. Another huge plus is the integration with Fender FUSE software via usb. I have never used a more intuitive software editing package and you can download tons of great extra presets created by Fender, famous artists and other users... and you can upload your own user patches to share with others. The only thing I feel this unit is missing is a looper. But at this price point you have more than enough money saved to buy an independent looper pedal to use with it that would be superior to a built-in looper anyway! Bottom line, you are getting a terrific complete effects and modeling pedalboard for about the cost of two stompboxes! Can't beat it!

There's far more here than I'd hoped.

By David Waldenberger

from Phillips Ranch

I have played guitar for 22 yrs, I have a lot of gear and have played with a lot of gear. I'm not a metalhead (no offense) just not what I play. I play rock, blues and churches. I have used the Line 6 multi-effects pedals (XT, HD400, HD500) somewhat extensively and I like them. I just dont NEED everything they're capable of. This pedal, with the 65 Princeton Reverb, the 59 Bassman, the Supersonic and the 57 Deluxe does what I want it to and does it pretty well. The effects (overdrive, choruses, delays) are not so much modeled after anything but are just effective and tweakable. This is not the pedal that will do EVERYTHING. Get an HD500 or the GT100 for that. This is the pedal with which you still sound like you. Just an opinion. Not to mention the price difference!

Trucker Friendly

By william judy

from Bridgeport , Il

As a over the road truck driver I look for something that gives me the sounds I need to play with ,and the ease of transportaion. I am able to plug the Fender Floor into my 12 volt supply with a cord I bought in truck stop , just need to make sure of polarity. I hook a cable from the headphone output to a 3.5 input in my truck stero . thus eliminating a need to carry a amp with me. Let alone the awsome sounds I get to play with away from home. When at home a pair up with a Frontman 212.

This should cost more

By tom brant

from Brooklyn Park, MN

What a great tool for the tone snob in all of us. Very intuitive operation, great tones right out of the box and super easy to edit and create your own tones. I've owned the Mustang amps for a while now and thought their capabilities were great so when I had to choose between buying a used Line 6 or this new Fender Mustang Floor for about the same money, it was an easy choice. I'm loving the opportunity to use the full capabilities of what the Mustang amp has built into it. Basically, they've combined the amp and the editing capabilities into the floor unit and then added the ability to switch on the fly. Great job Fender and great price.

A nice programmable board for the price - good quality and sound

By steven delaney

from Thomasville, Ga

I've had this unit about 2 weeks now. It's all metal and solid - the buttons are smooth and don't click like regular stompbox bottons. It's easly to use and programming everything is pretty straightforward. I don't like the Fuse software and it messed the unit up when I installed the recommended update and I had to reset the factory settings to repair it. The distortions do have a digital sound to them but that's really unavoidable in this price range but most sound really good. You can hear the limitations when you back off the guitar's volume - the sound doesn't clean up like a tube amp would - it just muddies up - but you can compensate for it by making a seperate channel for the appropriate volume. I like the unit because you can store so many different sounds and get to them quickly. There are 20 banks with 5 sounds per bank. The delays and modulations all sound nice. It also has stompboxes you can use in front of an amp model just like a real amp/pedal setup which is cool. The foot pedal can be used to control a lot of single parameters and effects - the wah is nothing special really. It's a very flexible unit. It can do very clean sounds up to very cranked Mesa-type modern high gain - don't let the Fender name fool you on this aspect of it. I haven't had a chance to hear it with my amp really cranked up but it sounds good at low bedroom levels. I haven't used the recording or PA outputs. For $300 I think it's one of the best choices out there. Like all programmable stuff it's easy to spend too much time programming and tweaking instead of playing.

Finally, There is Real Amp Modeling.

By Nima Norouzi

from Woodland Hills, CA.

Since I Picked up my first Electric guitar in 2006 I have been searching for good sound. I have tried every multieffect pedal out there, and as much as they all have tried, at the end of the day they all sound DIGITAL. But as soon as I heard this baby I knew this was it. It models all of the best Fender Tube amps with perfect, authentic, clear sounds ranging from shimmering clean to sick dirty metal sounds. Effects also sound great. All 100 channels are very easily editable . Although some are already so good that I wouldn't dare touch them. My only complaint is that I haven't been getting enough sleep since I bought this pedal neither have my neighbors.

Very impressed

By Mike Daniels

from Denver, Colorado

When I opened the box, I was dismayed that the was only one page of instrutions. I soon found out that instuctions are not really needed. The Mustang Floor is very easy to use and edit programs on the fly. The preprogramed sound are great. Very impressed overall. Great unit for the price.

Awesomeness

By Scott Boone

from Asheville, NC

I don't usually write reviews but this new multi-effects pedal is worth it. I own a Mustang 3 and love it, you can't beat it for the price. But after playing and exploring the Mustang Floor for a few hours I realized Fender has another winner here. I have some presets dialed in on my Mustang 3 and imported them into the Floor. I assigned the expression pedal to fit my presets. Having all the I/O's is very convenient when you want to connect to different channels on the mixer or recording equipment. I also have an MS-4 footswitch that gives you some extra switching options. You can't go wrong with this unit, it's awesomeness.
