A solidly built and beautifully finished instrument that has a perfect 'feel' and is incredibly playable!! Seven different pick-up settings provides a fantastic array of sounds. As I frequently play a lot of classic alternative music (I'm a huge fan of Johnny Marr), a clean, slightly chorused/delayed, sound is incredibly important to me - and this guitar sounds beautiful on all settings! With this Tele and my Standard Strat, I feel confident in saying that I have every tone I could ever hope to produce, and that I have no interest in ever buying another guitar.

I love Telecaster's and over the years have bought about two dozen of them. This is by far the worst one I ever bought (or for that matter worse guitar ever). Once I returned it I saw a second one in the store and played it and it was every bit as bad. The only positive thing I can say about this guitar is the finish looks great (made in China no EPA to deal with!). At its price range I was not expecting it to be the greatest telecaster in the world but I was expected to be at least as good as the Squier telecaster I got (made in Indonesia). In First of all the playability was poor so I had to adjust the neck and the intonation (not a complaint). Once I set it up though I realized it still played horribly and the reason was the angle of the neck to the body was not even correct! I was going to have to re shim the neck which was beyond my skill level. Even on the cheapest guitars they don't normally mess that up. Next was the sound, the best way to describe it is if you had a presence knob on your amplifier and instead of it going from 0 to 10 it went from zero to -10. This guitar makes any amplifier sound like it's presence control is on a -7 or 8! Regardless of which pickup you select it is flat out the thinnest and most sterile sounding guitar I've ever played in the last 35 years. I didn't even think it was possible to make a humbucker sound thin but somehow they were able to do it. They talk about it being made of pine (the cheapest possible wood available) like it's a big deal, there is a reason guitars are not made out of pine it's not like no one ever thought of it. If you own a bar or restaurant and want to buy a guitar just to hang up on the wall and look cool this is it. But if you are even slightly serious about playing guitar you could not pick a worse one even if you tried.

Junk fron Jhina!

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

I was excited to try this model, but after 5 minutes...it is utterly unplayable! The fret board is so inferior to the MIM models! I play a MIM Strat and it is nice, but these Made in Jhina aren't worth it at all! Compare the awful heavy pine to the MIM Alder and you will understand. The MIC finish and fret board is utterly unplayable! Such marketing hype by Fender, which is insulting! There is NOTHING about these MIChina that I would touch. Simply cheap junk. At least the MIMexico/Japan/Korean models plays at a level that is worth owning and sometimes better than some USA models.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

I've been playing guitar for roughly 8 years now and this is the first Fender guitar I've ever purchased. I purchased the Transparent Charcoal finish and man does it looks beautiful. The maple neck contrasts nicely and pine underneath the finish really shows well. I will say that the finish color is much more black than the image online indicates, but for me that was a major plus.

I like to play anything from country and blues to rock and metal and this guitar covers all the bases. The number of tones you can get with this guitar, especially at it's price point are the selling point for me. It feels slightly heavier then my previous Schecter C1+ but I think it makes the guitar feel more durable overall. My highest praise on this guitar is that it really kicks when you go clean on it. Jazz and blues sound simply incredible on this guitar, even on the stock neck pup. The tone is clean and deep while the sustain is really remarkable. The quality of the build on this guitar is exceptional and I'd say it holds it's own against it's Mexico and USA made brethren.

My only con is that the stock pups aren't to my liking, but that's all personal preference. I'll have them swapped to EMG's in short order.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

About 10 years ago I sold an American Custom Strat when I was laid off. It had a beautiful maple neck so I wanted something similar. I went to find another Strat but decided to pick up this Telecaster in the store and boy was I shocked. The sweet sounds, action, tones I could play with endless resonation of each. I played it straight with no effects and was amazed at how well it sounded. I couldn't stop playing it and hearing the perfect pitch and intonation. Everything sounded so much better- chords and lead! I put it down and played several others...Strats,Ibanez,Gibson, etc but none compared to this Modern Player Telecaster! I tried the Mexican and American versions but they paled in comparison this one made in Indonesia/China! The honey burst is so pleasing to the eye.

One of the best guitars I've played. Extremely versatile because of the switch only issues I've had are it needs a setup out of the box. Don't let the elitist jerks sway you because it's not a$10000 guitar its amazing my band is Confederate Attitude look us up and see for yourself

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

I have always been a huge fan and player of Fender basses and guitars. I went to GC looking for an inexpensive guitar that had the right feel, sound, and features at a certain price point. Although I would have preferred to purchase an American made Tele, I don't have enough spare money at present. I saw the Honey Burst model, played it and fell in love with it. The feel, sound, and look were all really great, especially at this price point. My friend who is just an amazing jazz/funk/rock guitarist played it, and said emphatically - buy it! He and I demo'd it on two different amps and really put it through a work out and it played, performed and sounded great! I won't pretend that it's on the same level with the high-end Tele's, but at this price it is a great guitar. I will eventually change the pick-ups, but even with the stock ones, it is worth having.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

I just picked this up a few days ago. I'm well aware that it's bottom-end for Fender, and that I'll probably need to update the electronics before too terribly long. BUT, that being said... the feel of this thing is killer, it has fantastic action, and the tone is as sweet as the honey-burst finish. The lipstick in the neck position is phenomenal - my new go-to for rhythm work. I really don't have anything bad to say.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

I went to Guitar Center to buy a new guitar and had a decent budget of around $1,000. I must of been in there for two hours playing dozens of guitars, even a Les Paul Studio. None of them compared to this Tele! For what I do, Classic Rock, Old School Country, and some Ska, it really gets the job done! The action is very low and no fret buzz. I feel like I have about three guitars in one when it is in my hand. The single/double humbucker option in the back in tremendous! And the lipstick pickup up front is very warm and sounds great on leads. I even took mine back because there was a few dings on the headstock from being a floor model and when I got there to exchange it I played several more guitars just to make sure and I still was happy with this Tele. The finish is very smooth and thick and allows your hand to glide down the neck easily. The body looks fantastic with the wood grain peeking thru the finish. Highly recommended!!!

This is my first electric. I love how easy this guitar is to play. I've wanted to go electric for a while now and after months of research and playing dozens of guitars I settled on this one because it spoke to me. I kept going back to it as I was shopping. For the price you cant go wrong. Pick one up.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

Overall guitar has great versatility, nice neck, and very nice aesthetic beauty (I have the honey burst and the wood is just as gorgeous as the photos). This guitar can be set up to give you a great blues sound and the humbucker can crunch and allow you to a "rock" tone . I am not overly impressed with the electronics and will replace the humbucker though. The main issue is frett buzz and tons of it. Guitar was poorly setup on Fender's part. Almost every note on the G and b string were littered with frett buzz. Upon inspecting the neck I saw that my guitar was back bowed and adjusted the truss rod and setup up the action. This seemed to eliminate 90% of the frett buzz and now this guitar plays like a beauty. Worth checking out.
