The Fender Machete 50W 1x12 guitar combo amp is unlike anything Fender has created before. It’s a high-performance, high-gain, high-end tone machine that combines tube sound and highly distinctive cosmetics. Discerning guitarists and amp connoisseurs who are both meticulous and adventurous about even the finest details of their sound will find the Machete a formidable new member of the Fender family.
The 50-watt, dual-channel Machete combo boasts a completely new high-gain channel unlike anything ever seen on a Fender amp, an extremely clear-sounding clean channel that can be pushed into aggressive rhythm guitar territory, and onboard digital reverb. Its heavily robust enclosure construction and single 12” Celestion speaker deliver full, rich and pummeling response, with a midrange notch control, adjustable speaker damping for finely tuned performance, XLR output with switchable speaker muting and cabinet emulation, and push-pull pots for bright boost and gain boost on the rhythm channel. Its distinctive cosmetics include black vinyl covering with inlaid white piping and gray vinyl “steering wheel grip” accents, new Black Silver Strand grille cloth, heavily knurled chrome knobs and all-new corners and hardware. Four-button footswitch and fitted cover included.

I was looking to move from a Fender Mustang V amp to a tube amp. I was thinking of a Super Sonic or Twin as I didn?t care for what the British manufacturers were offering in that price range. I wanted an amp that could give me the Fender clean sound but would get really aggressive when needed. Lucky the GC I went to had one of these in stock. I could get that clean Fender tone; or an overdriven sound; or a full-blown mean screaming tube wail that allowed me to move towards the other side of the pond by turning the Notch control. The amp sounds good with single coils or humbuckers and has quite a few options.
This amp is very under the radar but is really fantastic for all kinds of music. After buying it I have sold my other amps. It is very high gain but at medium gain settings really gets a fantastic rock and blues sound. Notes are very articulate and it is possible to dial in all the singing sustain you could want. Clean channel is a bit more crisp but can go from a nice clean to a rock crunch. The lead channel has a ridiculous amount of gain but it does not get mushy. I typically run on the lead channel with gain half way up. Then I roll back the guitar volume to get a great clean tone and up for leads - nice! Lots of features on the amp. A real boutique winner from Fender!
