Overview

Fender Standard KoilKords Cables are not the typical vintage coiled cable designs from the 60s with severely rolled-off highs and questionable construction methods, but rather a new interpretation that does justice to the past without ignoring modern needs.

These newly designed instrument cables are engineered to preserve what is good about the original coiled cables, without the problems and compromises. They do have the distinctive coiled cable voicing, but with a quieter background resulting from a twisted-pair design using separate signal and return conductors, in addition to a double shield over this. The stranding of these cables is optimized to compensate for the coiling, which adds inductance, and affects the sound.

The use of heavier gauge OFC copper conductors and better noise isolation provides a wider range, more open sound, as well as freedom from noise and interference that can compromise recording, or live sound performance.

This cord is pretty frikkin' awesome! It's got the looks of an awesome vintage cable with the sound clarity of a new skool cord. It's got all of those fancy metal in it so it's got all of the latest technology, but it's got the classic looks that make any setup look vintage. It's also very good for small places as stated in the other reviews. And it does make some noise when you move it dramatically when there's high gain like the other review says too. So if you want classic looks and new-age technology, you can't go wrong with this cord. Also, it's Fender and you can't go wrong with them.

I got them about two years ago, and at first every thing was fine but with in the first two band practices they started to put out a low hum then stopped working with in the first month. I just thought it was a bad set of cables so I sent it back to GC and got a new one. It lasted for about six months and then it also gave up the ghost. I mean they look great and they are cheaper then the Vox coil cables. However they just didn't last well. I wouldn't buy them again, but I would try them again if they were given to me.

Kool Kord

By Ralph

Comments about Fender KoilKords Standard Instrument Cable:

The coil cord makes perfect sense for tight playing environments, no tangles, and it eliminates getting stepped on. Very retro and cool to boot.

Decent Cable for the money....

By Rusty

from Stow, OH

Comments about Fender KoilKords Standard Instrument Cable:

For the price, this is an decent cord. The cord generated some noise from moving the cord at high-gain amp settings. Adequate cord for live gigs.

All style no substance...

By Ray Benesh

from California

Comments about Fender KoilKords Standard Instrument Cable:

It looks great but... I literally used this cord 3 times before it failed. Super scratchy and useless. Guitar Center was awesome however & replaced it with something better. Fantastic customer service. You get what you pay for.

Bad cable

By Jack Zigrang

from Iowa

Comments about Fender KoilKords Standard Instrument Cable:

I bought this cable, and after after about a month, it started buzzing like crazy. You cannot turn your body 3 degrees without making an explosion sound. Do not buy this cable!

The 60s style coil cord is back

By Wolf

from CA

Verified Buyer

Comments about Fender KoilKords Standard Instrument Cable:

Fender has brought back the 60s style cord. Using the standard guitar cable was messy and tangles frequently. The coil cord by Fender stays neater (when in use and storage) and still provides the flexibility of movement. The cable sounds great with all of my guitars. I purchased more than 1 in case Fender stopped the manufacturing of the product. I can honestly recommend the cable for anyone.

Comments about Fender KoilKords Standard Instrument Cable:

After receiving this cord I was turbo pleased to find it well exceeded my expectations. The wire itself is very thick yet super flexible. The end connections are very well made and both ends feature the fender logo. I have since bought one for every instrument I own.

great cable (if you stay very still)

      By Leonard the rock star

      from Detroit, MI

Comments about Fender KoilKords Standard Instrument Cable:

Sorry, but this thing is horrible. If you play in any manner other than sitting down and remaining still, you will get a lot of noise from this cable. move it a bit, and you hear a lot of static. don't bother with this. Get a decent straight cable or look for a better coily cable if you don't want noise

      Good so far

      By Russell Evans

      from Las Vegas, NV

Comments about Fender KoilKords Standard Instrument Cable:

So far so good. They sound good, no extra noise, and best of all it doesn't get tangled up. I have yet to use it on stage but at my home studio it seems to work very well. Vintage looks and no tangles. The only thing keeping it from being 5 stars is that it's 30 feet long which makes me worry about signal degradation. I haven't noticed any, but the longer your signal has to travel the higher chance of it, but no complaints so far.
