Great tone/playability

By STANISLAUS PALUCH

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Great guitar, great pickups, great features. I love the locking tuners!! This won't let you down when you play live. Fast neck, controls are very simple! I play through a H and K Switchblade going into a Dean Amplification cab with Eminence speakers and the tone is luscious. I highly recommend trying one out.

Everything I want in a guitar

By TRISTAN BAEZA

from Orlando, FL

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar is just an absolute masterpiece. As a fan of Jim Root, I've always wanted one of his signature guitars. I finally bought his signature telecaster in White with an Ebony fretboard. The guitar unlike most Telecasters, the body is made of Mahogany with contour on the back of the guitar with a modern neck joint which makes it much easier to access the higher frets. Straight out of its case it was ready for a gig and even recording. The locking tuners work great and stay in tune perfectly, the Schaller strap locks it comes with are great and work perfectly, the EMG 81 60 combo is perfect in combination with the wood. It has a very warm and clear heavy tone. The 60 is just perfect for everything, I even found it to have good blues tones. The bridge is my favorite thing about it, it's a hard tail bridge that is the most comfortable bridge ever. It's placement along with the one volume knob is great, I'm not slapping the volume with my hand while playing like other guitars I've tried. The neck of the guitar is perfect too, the shape of it is based off of Charvel and Jackson necks. It's a little fat and round, but that's what I like about it. It's comfortable to play on. The fret radius is flat, it's perfect for soloing on, you can bend all you want and you won't fret out. The quality of the guitar and craftsmanship is exactly what I would expect from Fender. I can't find one thing wrong with it. I've had this guitar for a few weeks now and it's still in perfect condition even through the hundreds of hours I've spent playing it. It's just a beautiful guitar. The weight of it is not too heavy and not too light, it's a perfect weight. Overall if you are looking to buy this guitar, buy it. You will love this guitar. I'm definitely going to buy the black one too.

Best guitar in the arsenal

By drew terlizzi

from nj

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Ive had this guitar for 5 years, I was actually one of the first to get it. It is without a doubt the best playing and sounding guitar Ive ever played or owned. Ive owned close to thirty guitars and this is the only one i have kept out of all of them and i will never get rid of it. Most people say that all guitar loaded with emgs sound alike but this is a prime example that they dont. This guitar has the high output but has a really low bassy sound to it which makes it sound huge which is from the excellent combinations of wood.

Best guitar I own

By Sherry E

from Superior, WI

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

First of all, I love this guitar. Jim Root is my biggest influence and I've always loved the tone of his guitar. So when I got enough money to buy this I didn't hesitate. When I got the case I was pleasantly surprised, and when I opened it, it was even better. All in all this guitar is perfect in my opinion. Great sound, very comfortable, it's just great. The only complaint I have is the fact that the case began to turn my guitar pink (luckily I noticed before it was obvious) due to the red fabric inside, so I had to swap cases for it. I'll probably just sell the case despite how nice it looks.

Solid, heavy duty rock guitar

By Dan in S.IL

from Southern Illinois

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar recently (Black, white pick guard, maple neck). The locking tuners are simple, easy to use and maked restringing very fast and easy. Guitar stays in tune with deep hard bends. The neck seems finished well and the frets feel meaty, it seems like I can play faster on this neck than my other guitars. The body is big, solid and heavy, which I like. The pickups make natural and pinch harmonics easy to achieve. Should not have to tell you what the EMGs can do, great pickup combo. However, in the middle position, I have not found useful on clean or distorted. The finish, paint, color is not pretty nor flashy and that is why I love it. It comes with a very cool case and pluch red interior. The only reason I rate this guitar a 4 is because there is no tone knob, which I think would be very useful for tweaking some sounds. I recomend this guitar for hard rock to metal players as it serves lead soloing and rhythm/riffing styles.

This guitar is making me give fender another chance

By Andrew A.

from Stafford, Virginia

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

my experience with fender guitars haven't been that great my first guitar was a red mexican strat wasn't what I wanted and was the worst guitar I have played. I went through many guitars and different pickup brands and became favored EMG. I talked to a friend of mine about what I was looking for and he happened to have a fender flathead custom shop model and I loved it and since fender discontinued it I found this guitar which was the closest thing I could get and being a big fan of Jim Root I wanted it. EMG 81 in the bridge and 60 in the neck. Mahogany body. I have had it for a week now and love the guitar I bought the white one and it is great for all my styles from classical to hardcore and metal, soon I will go after the black one and Jim's strats... oh and heads up for those who are choosing the flat white finish the reason I chose it was because when it ages it will go from a flat white to a cream yellow I have had it for a few weeks now and it is actually starting to get a little darker in color.

Best Tele Yet

By Mike

from Yuba City, Ca

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I've played over 30 years and have played several Teles trying to find the right one. For harder rock/metal and even killer clean stuff, this Jim Root Model is the PERFECT choice. It has a solid Mahogany body with that killer c shape Fender neck and the Dunlop jumbo frets are perfect and fast. Very fast. The EMG 81/60 combo is the best you can get. Talk about clarity. I love this thing so much, I bought another! One with maple neck, the other with Ebony. Sweeeeeet!

New EMG 60 Fan

By Rick Q.

from Ridgecrest, CA

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Mine's an '07 and I picked it up because I love hot-rod Teles. I use this one in C# drop tuning and run Ernie Ball 12-56 strings. It was a bit tricky getting the fat 56 through the locking tuner, but persistence paid off. I also had to slightly widen the nut slots to accommodate the fattys. The big surprise for me on this guitar was the EMG 60 in the neck position. I've got another fiddle set up with an 81 & 85...great for heavier stuff. I figured that I'd just leave this one set on the bridge all the time and ignore the little guy. Not so! That 60 is wonderful! I'm very pleased with the tone choices afforded by the pickup configuration on this Tele. I don't miss the lack of a tone control, and it sounds great even when played clean on the 60. I like the locking tuners, EMGs, bridge & overall tone. I rated it a 4 because the initial set-up and finish fell below what one would expect from an American Fender product. I had to adjust the truss rod to bring the action down to an acceptable height & move the bridge saddles a bit to put the intonation spot-on. That said...it's a nice Mexi-Hot Rod, the EMG 60 was a great discovery, and I don't regret the purchase.
