Versatile and Gorgeous Funk Machine

By Bassman

from California

Comments about Fender Jazz Bass 24 V 5-String Bass Guitar:

First of all, let me start by saying this is an absolutely gorgeous bass, in fact, it's the nicest looking bass I've ever seen! I always get complements on it and people always want me to play it more. The finish is just spectacular. In terms of features, you'd be hard pressed to find a bass with more features in this price range. The three band EQ and series/parallel switch allow to dial in about any tone you could imagine from deep, fat bass, to trebly grunge. I have d'Addario half round strings on mine, which are a good mix between roundwounds and flatwounds. The neck might be a little thick for those used to a four string, but I got used to it in about 2 minutes. You can also pan between the two pickups and change to passive mode by pulling up on the volume knob. Passive mode leaves something to be desired though, so I usually keep in in active. For a Korean made bass, the quality is very good, but there are a few sharp edges and other things that prevent it from having the feel of an American made bass. In terms of durability, I've never had a single problem in the year that I've owned this bass. I use this bass as a secondary bass when I need a more extreme tone or sub E notes that my 4-string American J-Bass can't handle.

Great Bass Amighty!!

Comments about Fender Jazz Bass 24 V 5-String Bass Guitar:

I love Fender basses and I swore if they ever made a 24 fret five string Jazz bass I was going to buy one. Well they did and I did too and am I glad they did!!! This is one of the easiest basses to play. I've played lots of jazz basses in shops and by far this was the best one I've encountered. It's not just a great Jazz bass, it's a great bass. You can get that traditional Jazz bass tone or, with the active mode, the "Marcus Miller" tone (among others). I've been playing a Peavey Tl5 for years and it has great tone but it distorts when you crank the on-board EQ in the lower mid and bass range. This bass does not and it has BALLS when you do it!! And you barely have to touch it!! It sounds great unplugged. It's almost as loud as an acoustic bass guitar. The neck is SWEET!!The C-shape contour is just right for me. I love this bass!! You CAN"T go wrong with this one!!!

For me, this bass and I ...

By Bass-Man G

Comments about Fender Jazz Bass 24 V 5-String Bass Guitar:

For me, this bass and I felt a bond easy. I have been playing another bass similar to this bass when I happened across it. I immediately knew I wanted to take this bass home. This bass has a great tobacco burst finish, and it compares a little bit to the Roscoe Beck 5 and with a sprinkle or two of a Squier Precision 5 and with an ebony board with a plastic nut. It seems like if they were laid side by side one day and Fender said, lets take this from this and this from this and let?s add some more frets and call it a Fender Jazz Bass 24 V. My bass weighs in at ten pounds which is the same weight as my RB5's. I had to get use to the neck at the nut because it is a smidgen wider than the RB5's. I really dig the tonal shaping?s of the active equalizer, but I am not getting what I want in the passive mode for tone for some reason. Again, I love the looks and finish of this bass, its top notch and near flawless. I plan to spend lots of time with it. I wanted a multi-purpose active-passive bass and I think this could be it. I use an Ampeg SVT 4 Pro amp and Ampeg bass cabinets. This is a great bass and I am glad to have it. The bass is priced appropriately but it should have come with a gig bag.
