This guitar exceeded my expectations and I don't hand out compliments easily. The build quality is excellent and even came set up well straight from the factory. The pickups sound fantastic. I had expected to have to swap them out but I really like them. They aren't super-hot, but they have plenty when you need it and they clean up really well. Not being Jaguar player before, I'm finding that it's a little tricky switching from the bridge to neck pickup and back quickly in mid-song. I love the tonal range in this instrument. It's my main road dog from now on.

Picked this guitar up at GC, entered the loud room and compared it head on with other humbucker guitars (les paul, esp, etc.). The string tension literally felt like strumming spaghetti. Single note patterns sounded ok, but any chord I played sounded like a big, muddy, muffled mess. Don't let the humbuckers fool you, this guitar HATES gain...even classic rock crunch tones sounded like flubby garbage...I literally almost puked, because this guitar is sick looking. I bet with a decent setup (heard fatter stings help with string tension weakness) and swapping in a pair of decent humbuckers might make this guitar less embarrassing, but why spend all that extra money to mod it when you can get a stock guitar that sounds much, much better for a similar price? Pass on this one...

Not for everyone. . .

By Patrick Fitzgerald _ _ _ _

Comments about Fender Jaguar HH Electric Guitar:

I wanted to add a Jaguar/Jazzmaster style guitar to my gear, so I bought one of these used from GC online, but returned it after trying it out for a couple of weeks. Here's why. The fit, finish and playability were all excellent (although it's quite heavy), and the black/chrome color scheme is gorgeous. The problem for me was that it didn't produce any distinct tones. Even with all the switches it basically sounded like any mid-range dual humbucker guitar with mediocre pickups installed. I already have two dual 'bucker Schecters that sound much better, so back it went. If you're a Strat player and Fender loyalist looking to add a solid body, fixed bridge, dual 'bucker to your sound, this is certainly not a bad choice at this price point, but there are better, less expensive options out there in my view. By the way, I found all the looks and tone that I was searching for in the Squier/Fender J Mascis Jazzmaster.

best guitar ever!!!!!

Comments about Fender Jaguar HH Electric Guitar:

When worried about purchasing a guitar that fulfills all expectations and necessities of the modern musician.... this is it! Lets begin with whats relevant. The sound. If you purchase this guitar it gives you the broad variety of sound you have searched for. I will not sell this guitar as a perfect substitute for all guitars (even if, in my humble opinion, it is), but it does give you the ability to transform between high gain thick sound and thin delicate sound. Between the mellow jazz and the aggressive rock/metal sound. It?s perfect for recording, no buzz, no noise, no issues that might trouble you. The high pass filter allows you to also release the low end for the bass not to fight the guitar and the multiple settings allow you to easy access the sound you need, when you need it. As for the action and built.... amazing. No twitching nor adjustments from the original factory setup. Just amazing. The action is smooth and fast and the access is easy. This baby is rock solid and clean and the fact that it was built in japan means the built standards are top notch. No fret buzz and the spacing of the strings is amazing. It stays in tune easily and the fact that there's no tremolo should be no issue against a finely tuned guitar. The sustain is remarkable. It?s an inspiring sound that will push you to improve. The guitar is a bit on the heavy side but that's no problem for me. It just makes me respect more the quality. The nobs are metal and the only plastic are the pickup selector and rithm pickup selector. But in contrast with the metal surroundings doesn't feel bad at all. As for the looks.... speechless. If you are looking for a guitar to handle sound, looks and play-ability, this is the one for you. I have no regrets so far.

It came to me in perfect condition. When I first started researching it, I was drawn to the just look of it. However, when I received it the way it felt and played was just amazing. I highly recommend this guitar.

Nice but a little too sweet for me

By Alex Locke

from NJ

Comments about Fender Jaguar HH Electric Guitar:

This is a pretty nice guitar. Before I knew more about guitars, this was my "dream guitar". Since then, I've learned more and see its limitations. Very comfortable neck, nice action. I don't mind the slickness of the veneer altho some people may gripe about it. The tone is kind of glossy and sweet, very melodic, trebley. You can alter the tone quite a bit through the various controls. You can get a nice twanginess out of it. But it doesn't have much edge or deep, low resonance. Also I'm not sure the pickups can really handle a lot of distortion. It starts to sound a little too trebley for my liking. Personally I like the other Jaguar, the Classic Player Special HH with Enforcer pickups better. That one has a richer, tougher sound. But obviously this is a judgement call. This one has a nicer neck and fretboard than the Jag with Enforcer pickups for what it's worth.

5 years and I still love it

By jordan constantine

from Cleveland Ohio

Comments about Fender Jaguar HH Electric Guitar:

I bought my special edition HH Jaguar in early 2008. This guitar just rocks. It fits perfectly to your body when you sit. its a little on the heavy side but no more than a les paul. The tune-a-matic type bridge its great for staying in tune as are the tuners which resemble Fender bass tuners. The esoteric switches and dials are quite useful for achieving different tones which cove a large range. My one problem was the "humbuckers"... There not. thats right they are single coil I kid you not. I liked the sound but it wasnt heavy enough so I swapped in a pair of Seymour Duncan Invaders and made one of the bottom switches a bridge double to single coil switch. I still love this guitar and it remains my favorite

First electric

By Mark Lira

Comments about Fender Jaguar HH Electric Guitar:

I recently made the switch from acoustic to electric. The Jaguar HH seemed to offer the type of versatility I was seeking (along with neck to accommodate my smaller hands). As somewhat of newbie, I relied on previous reviews. Couldn't be happier.

Best guitar I have ever played!

By Tyler B.

from Aurora Oh.

Comments about Fender Jaguar HH Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar at the beginning of winter, and I have played it everyday since. In my opinion, it is the perfect guitar for a versatile musician like myself. I play folk music and this guitar can plug straight into an amp and sound nice and clean without anything to help it get there. I also play screamo music, and it handles heavy distortion better than my Gibson SG. All the controls may seem confusing, but after a while they will become 2nd nature to you. If you're thinking about buying this guitar, just do it, you won't be disappointed.

Amazing guitar

Comments about Fender Jaguar HH Electric Guitar:

I played this guitar today at my local Guitar Center store. I must say, I am extremely impressed. The tone is crisp, clean, and can go into a mushy... deep tone like that. It is an amazing guitar that I hope to add to my collection in the near future.
