Overview

The Jaguar Bass has added a new level of cool to the world of electric bass since its introduction in 2006. Though it's based on the design one of the most popular guitars from the early '60s, don't let the Jaguar's retro look fool you”this bass is chock-full of modern features. With the goal of total tonal control, the Jaguar bass gives you the ability to switch pickups on and off, from series to parallel, and from active to passive. This provides you with a tonal palette that works for all types of players, from the set-and-forget player to the eternal tone-adjuster. Stylistically, it has a thin, fast, one-piece C-shaped maple neck that has a warm tint with a rosewood fingerboard, complete with aged white pearloid block position markers.

This is perhaps the best bass I've ever played! Its features, once mastered, allow you to do almost anything with your bass that you want to. As soon as I took this bass out of its hard case, I fell in love with its jet black color and chrome. From the moment I plugged it in, I was in heaven. The sound that this bass produces is nothing short of astounding. Its presence is just so powerful. One thing that is very cool about it is the fact that it has pick-up selectors- UNHEARD OF on other basses. You can choose the "Neck Pick-up" the "Bridge Pick-up" or the "Series Switch". You can do interesting combinations with the three of these to play around with your sound. AMAZING! On top of the standard volume and tone knobs, you get a pre-amp... INSIDE THE BASS! You can adjust it to have a heavy bottom end or a light high end. You can even set it in the middle for a distinct "growl" that is very strong. And if you don't want to use this feature, you can simply flick the switch to turn it off. One of its kind, for sure. I recommend this to all bass players of all types of music. You will NOT be dissapointed... I know I'm not!

This Bass is a mixed bag of good and bad. I have the Hot Rod Red and the finish and looks are awesome. The neck is a J-bass with a glossy finish. The fret ends are a bit sharp and unfinished, but otherwise straight and buzz free. The action and setup out of the box was pretty good with just minor adjustments needed. The tuners, bridge, active preamp and wiring are really sub par. Tuners are clunky and imprecise. Bridge is thin and flimsy looking. Preamp is noisy and muddy sounding. The battery for the active preamp was dead when I received it. I thought that would maybe be why this thing buzzed and hummed so loud when I plugged it into my amp. After replacing the battery with a high quality alkaline no change and twice as bad with active switch on. Come to find out after much research and a dismantling of the pick guard and switch/pot plates that the ground wire for the battery and the bridge were swapped so the battery was on 24/7 instead of just when the cable is plugged into the jack, hence the dead battery. It looked factory done. I properly re grounded and shielded everything and in passive mode it's as quiet as a single coil pickup guitar can get. In active mode it's still pretty noisy with the bass and treble set past midway. So if you want to learn about guitar fixing this is a chance to learn. Some are perfect and some are like this. Mine looked like it was returned at one point by the looks of the box missing foam pieces and it being improperly wrapped, causing some scuff marks on the body edges. Even with all that said, I can't put it down. The pickups are decent and the series/parallel switch makes some great sounding tonal variety.

Just look at the thing! But wait until you hear her voice.. it is absolutely beautiful. I still haven't figured out all the tones I can pull out of this baby. She just looks so killer.. harmonics sound especially pretty, if any of you are into Jaco Pastorius.. but really, she's for anything. THe Fender Jaguar Bass kills. what a smooth body :)

MY Favorite Bass

By Adam M

from Allendale NJ

Comments about Fender Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar:

I had a fender presicion and really enjoyed playing it.But, i was lookin for a more mellow sound so I went to guitar center to get a hollow body. BUt, like any bass entusiast would, I played many other basses in the store for fun. I immediatly fell in love with this bass. THe dude behind the counter was watchin me play it untill he said, " yeah, that's your bass" I love this bass so much I haven't found one that i'm more happy with. I use D'addario flat wounds to accent the mellow sound. THis is the best bass I have ever played

Comments about Fender Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar:

As soon as i saw this bass online I knew I had to own it, it is just stunning. I ordered the HRR with matching head stock, and all i can say is that the paint is flawless, I'm not sure I can say I have seen such ann awsome color befor. As for Playability, this bass is like a dream. The neck is the fastest neck I can recall everplaying on, as well as the slimest fender makes. The electronics are a little different than the normal bass, but once you've got em down, the tonal possabilities are endless. All i can say is by this bass if you have the chance, its worth every penny.

Comments about Fender Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar:

I tried this bass out and i gotta tell you, i couldn't put it down. That vintage look the red one has is incredible. I still couldn't get the whole pontential of the thing because of some many knobs. It sounds incredible and it's easy to play. When i get the money, i will buy. Try it yourself, you'll love it

Comments about Fender Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar:

I Played through an Ampeg 220watt amp, and I have to tell you it sounded Great. What I really thought was cool was that you could totally change the tone of the instrument for an style of music. I wasn't a big Fender fan but now I really enjoy playing on them.

The supaman of basses

Comments about Fender Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar:

Ok, this is a one of a kind bass. I went to guitar center to go get some amp cables and of course tried out basses. I remember seeing this one on the web and seeing all the great reviews so I saw it on the wall(wasn t that hard) and tried it. Unfortantely, I was rushed by my folks so I didnt get to try out all the sounds but I could tell it had endless results. The sound and looks are great and with a great price what are you waiting for?

Jaguar Bass

By Dave

from Sarasota, FLA.

Comments about Fender Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar:

Tried this thing out in a couple of chain music stores. I wound up ordeing it from a local Guitar Center along with a Ash Jazz Bass. This Bass is for my sons 16th Birthday gift. But let me tell you that right out of the box this thing was perfectly in tune with great action and intonation, tight neck pocket and beautiful Hot Rod red that every 16 yearold loves. It has a super fast neck a bit thinner than my Jazz bass and the serial parralell switch is awsome as are the built in bass and treble preamp no need for pedals with this bass. Truly the best bass guitar value out there. Now wish I bought a second for myself. although I love my ash Jazz bass. The Jaguar is the most versital sounding bass I have played.
