Bought a Fender Supersonic 60 1x12 Amp that I love. Great sound & very versatile. Thought it might need a little help for outdoor & larger gigs. Our other guitarist uses a Twin, which is a 2x12 unit. Being over 60, I'd rather carry two units of lesser weight than one heavy Twin (about 100 Lbs) My SS60 is about 50lbs and the Cab is about 38Lbs. The SS60 is a tube open back with a 12" Celestion. The Deluxe Cab compliments it perfectly as it is a closed back with 1 12" Celestion. The SS stacks on top of the Cab nicely with just about 1/2 to 3/4" overhang on each side. Very stable. Got them both in the Tweed & look GREAT ! Very vintage...like ME ! The closed back cab helps the mids and lows project a little better. So, great looks, excellent sound/tone & portability! Just what I needed!
First let me say that the Hot Rod Deluxe III amp is amazing in itself. But in some cases, I've needed a little more presence on stage and a little more low end. This Hot Rod Deluxe 112 cab is just what I needed. I like the Deville but it is a bit heavy, so it stays home unless I need it. I've always like the sound I get through 2 12" speakers. It's just nice knowing I have that option when I need it. The closed back adds punch as well as low end. A very satisfied and happy purchase.
This cab sounds great with the BDRI. It gives it a much fuller sound. I love it!
Just tried my new Fender Hot Rod Deluxe ext. cab w/ my Hot Rod Deluxe Amp.....wow, what a difference a change in impedence makes!! Warm, rich tones, and, by getting my amp off the ground, much easier to hear myself at less volume. Looks great, sounds great ! I love it !
All in all, when all factors are added up the Fender Co. rules the world of the "Blues Sound" produced by a tube driven cab. The 60 watts Blues Deville can compliment just about any Blues artform on this planet or the next. However, one small area of the sonic spectrum that the 4X10 cab need a little help in was the deep and POWERFUL lower bass freqs. In my opinion, you don't need a 2x12 cabinet to get that little extra low bass that was slightly lacking before. I bought the 122 cab with 1x12 featuring the Celestion G12P-80. It is pure heavenly balance when used in combo with the 60 watt 4X10 Blues Deville. For me, that magic balance of just enough lower bass that was not there before adding the 1X12 Fender Cab suddenly appears with the general amp setting (for "average" size club gig 100-150 people): Treble 7-8, Bass 8-9, Presence "cranked" 10-12, Channel Normal. This give be a "slight" scoop sound with the addition of the 1X12 which produces a nice, rich bluesy sound when play chords/rhythm. When a "Brighter" lead is needed I switch the channel foot switch to "Bright" and kick on the on "coloration" pedal that I use which is a Boss BD-2 supplimented with a Boss DD-7 Delay (for a slight amount of "thickening". In summerary, the 122 Fender cabinet is a truely GREAT and balanced adddition to any Hot Rod or Blues Deville. And for the sale price of $299.00 sure makes that great feeling of great lots more tone cheap feel even better. Try it...... you will LIKE it!
If you want a go to amp cab this is the one you want!!!! Punchy, sassy, big tone for a small cab!! Also has a great crunch.....this little guy packs tone, great looks, and class into a small cab. Weather it's blues, rock, classical, grunge, this guy is going to handle it well!!!
I own a laquered tweed HRD and recently purchased a matching HRD 1x12 extension cabinet and had to offer my opinion to any others out there who value the gear they own/use. It's pricey as combo extension speakers go but it's a great bang for the buck once broken in and U find the time to dial the settings in to maximize its potential. The closed cabinet housed with a great 80W Celestion speaker provides a much warmer, deeper tonal output than acheivable by the stand alone HRD amp. It affords the output tubes a bit more opportunity to reach that bottom end which it is capable of without "rattling the cage" too much as when driving this fine amp through the 1x12 that it comes with. Less distortion and more punchy clean low ends are possible & I love the way it looks with the HRD securely nestled atop the ext. speaker, like a mini full stack, with a powerful projection which cuts through the live mix low & hi, with clarity and definition. I am thrilled by the reward that resulted from marrying the HRD amp with the extension speaker cabinet....totally worthwhile. Thanks, Fender, Guitar Center!
After buying the Hot Rod Deluxe amp I felt like the amp needed to be spread a little thinner due to the fact the amp has a ton of power. Adding an extra speaker would do the trick & it did. It adds depth and low end. This didn't make me a better player but I like what I hear. I also bought the JM-4 line6 looper @ GC and they work great together.
I have to say that I'm very pleased with the 1-12 extension cabinet. It provides a level of warmth and depth that the Hot Rod Deluxe was missing by itself. I'd have to say, "if you don't have one, get one, it's well worth the investment in your Tone and your physical Assets".
