Overview

Combining vintage looks with modern features, this Fender® Hot Rod Deville 212 Special Edition amplifier looks amazing in lacquered tweed covering and Bassman® grille cloth! Hot Rod amps deliver unmistakable Fender tone and are the perfect platform for musicians to craft their own signature sound. These no-frills amps are affordable, reliable and loud, and they pair extremely well with stomp boxes.

The Hot Rod DeVille 212 III is a 60-watt combo with a classic 2x12 speaker configuration borrowed from the legendary Twin Reverb® amp, the low-end headroom characteristic of 6L6 tubes, a versatile all-12AX7 tube preamp, an effects loop and more. It produces amazing clean and overdriven tones and luscious Fender spring reverb, and a 4-ohm extension speaker output even lets you add a cabinet for additional stage coverage.

Additional Hot Rod DeVille 212 III upgrades include an easier-to-read black control panel with front-reading text, new badge, streamlined footswitch, graduated volume and treble pot tapers, and dual Celestion® G12P-80 speakers.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod DeVille III 60W Tweed 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I use this amp primarily for home recordings. The only way this amp could sound better would be in a dream. The amp is heavy, could use a handle on each side in order for two people to carry it, but for my purposes I put it on a small 4 wheel furniture dolly, problem solved.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod DeVille III 60W Tweed 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Great sounding amp at just about any volume. This is the third Deville I've owned going back to the mid 90's. (still have all three) I prefer the two 12" config. over the over the four 10".
Tighter, warmer sound. For the money you can't beat the reliability and that counts if your're gigging three to four nights a week.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod DeVille III 60W Tweed 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Yeah,it's me again. I tried my luck and ordered a used Deville. It arrived today and upon inspection, saw the orange-cast lacquer, again. The only reason I'm writing this time is to say , there's got to be a way to be sure of getting what you want, especially when you're spending a lot. I simply trusted MF in supplying the correct image of the amplifier. The amp is a close rendition of a 1956 small box Twin, so I'll keep it. It will look great with the other Tweeds.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod DeVille III 60W Tweed 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I got mine used and it looks like it's seen a lot of gigs. This amp (in tweed) looks very cool. I tried one in a store by accident as I was trying a guitar out (which was a Gretsch Electromatic) and I happened to plug into the Deville with 2 12"s. The amp sounded so full and warm. Even though I had just bought a Fender Blues Jr., I soon bought a DeVille. The Blues Jr is also a great small amp which I will use when I can no longer lift this 63 lb. DeVille. A new Blues Jr has a very bright and sharp attack that is hard on the ears when you play lead. I've read that they must be broken in with many hours of loud playing. This DeVille sounds so much smoother and so much like the classic tube sound of the 60s when I grew up. I've had a couple Twin Reverbs- also great amps but heavier. I play a Strat, a Gretsch 5420 and mostly an Epiphone ES-175 through this amp and honestly you can't go wrong unless you're really looking for a Marshall type breakup in which case you should get a Marshall. The 2nd channel on the DeVille is OK for a little more growl. I play solo and want clean tone with old reverb. I love this amp but I wish the knobs faced right side up. It's annoying however I've gotten over it mostly.
You're never going to get the nice fat tone out of an amp with a single 12 speaker that you will get with 2 12"s. If you love tone and can lift the Deville or Twin, my advice is to go with these. The blues Jr is great if you need the lower weight, the lower expense and if you can break in the tubes. If you get your amp in tweed, you will get credit for being cool and I get compliments about the amp. Other musicians love it.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod DeVille III 60W Tweed 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

To you Amp collectors, the Fender factory sprayed this Deville with an orange-cast lacquer that is different than the picture on the website. It weighs closer to 63 lbs. too. The amp has a Big Sound with lots of potential. I would order another one if I could get the tweed in a more traditional shade.
