I bought this amp this past summer and I couldn't be happier. The reverb is great on this amp. It really adds great depth to the overall sound. I have yet to crank up this 60W mammoth to the max. It is very loud, and the noise complaint I got this quarter at college is proof! If you are gonna be practicing at home you better not crank the volume past 2, this beast goes to 12. The distortion? I like it but I will be buying a distortion pedal soon, only because I just want to have have a little more crunch. The clean channel is pretty smooth, really seems to glisten. The presence knob on the amp does not really do anything. The two inputs are pretty sick if you are gonna be jamming with one of your buddies. So far so good, if you want an all tube amp with some volume and nice distortion... look no farther.

You can read all the good reviews about how good the amp is they are all true. However,do your self a favor before you leave the store get a new handle. The rubber is weak and the time you lift it in a hurry that strap is going to break ( mine did after a month). Why put a cheap handle on an expensive amp? I have less expensive amps with nice leather handles. You will thank me on this!!! either that or buy pro coverage and watch your amp break into pieces but they will give you a new amp..lol

I couldn't be happier. The clean fender sound you want with a gritty distortion channel that offers diversity for whatever type of music you are playing. Plenty of power and high quality sound,

Fender Hot Rod DeVille 212

By Richard Peninger

from Phoenix AZ

Comments about Fender Hot Rod DeVille 212 III 60W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Fender's Hot Rod DeVille 60 watt tube amp with 2x12's is a loud, bright, bassy and clean combo amp, with rich bottom dispersed around the amp by it's birch open back combo cabinet and stock Fender 12's. Because it is a combo amp (open back), Low-end(which is plentiful), disperses round the stage. To get further out front if not mic'd through the P.A. or for larger rooms, Fender recommends any of it's 8 ohm enclosures. The DeVille provides good clean support for guitar sound and effects, with generous highs, mids, and bottom end for great versatility. The over-drive channel, can be used judiciously, to get speaker sustain at lower volumes, but there are much better overdrives in other amps. DeVille has three disadvantages: 1.) It's heavy 2.) EQ switches make subtle changes unlike the later models of Fender amps 3.) Volume is fast gain, and it can easily get too loud. A speaker attenuator placed between the 8 ohm speaker output and speaker set can be used to lower volume switch gain. I subtract one star because of it's weight, and being a combo, it still needs a means of getting tone other than highs out in the room. Boss pedals and tonelabs sound great through it.

Hot Rod Deville 212

By Scott Francis

from San Antonio, Tx

Comments about Fender Hot Rod DeVille 212 III 60W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I replaced my 1977 Siverface Twin Reverb with this amp because it weighs 35 lbs less than the Twin. Too heavy for an old guy.Great tone for Country, Classic Rock, Pop and Jazz. I like the drive channels, but a Metal player would not. The reverb is standard Fender, very nice. Extremely loud amplifier. Can't set the volume above 2 for playing in the house. The 40 watt would be more than adequate, but I like big amps and could plug my 2 x 12 Vibroking cabinet into this amp for a very full, rounded sound. If this amp lasts as long as my Twin did, it will definitely outlive me. I love Fender amplifiers.

Deville 212 III

By Donald Sjoblom

Comments about Fender Hot Rod DeVille 212 III 60W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Purchased it used at GC. I play a cover band - outdoor venues and benefits in large halls. We play some classic rock, some country, some classic metal, blues and some more recent stuff. I'm a Fender guy and this one is a great addition, easy to transport. As clean as the 70's Bassman 410, reverb sounds as good as the Twin RI, and the distortion sounds better than the Fender Distortion pedal through the 60's Super Reverb. Hooked it up to the vintage Bassman (212 Jensen) extension cab and it sounds awesome, big enough for a medium venue with volume on 5, or a large outdoor venue using the preamp line out into the PA. Pleasantly surprised at the price, a great value new or used.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod DeVille 212 III 60W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp sounds very good and has nice clean sound as well as distortion/overdrive. It is loud and you WILL notice the low tones, something that is missed on smaller amps. The high frequencies are very clear and sparkly and the mids are full and not hollow as experienced on other amps. The foot switch is made of metal and seems very sturdy. I like the simplicity of this amp and the effects loop is nice if you want to add a pedal or two or three or......

I've read on the web elsewhere that a lot people slam this amp for the tone of the overdrive channel, I like it and sounds very good on my Les Paul, Casino and Strat. Just crank down on your gtr volume and crank up the drive and master volume controls then gradually turn up on the gtr volume to get the sound you're after. I guess some just don't like the sound or have gtrs with not-such good pick-ups or are just ego-dorks. If you want that heavy metal distortion go get a pedal and hook into the effects loop, that's what it is for.

It is a heavy amp and you will notice it compared to single speaker, solid-state amps. If you never worked manual labor a day in your life have some one who has move this thing for you.

All in all.....this is a tube amp and you will notice the difference if you are moving up in the gtr world from a single speaker, solid-state modeling practice amp. The weight thing is a trade-off and is worth it, if you can lift it.

The only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of a 5 is because it was made in Mexico. I hate that.
