Overview

Jeff Beck wanted a bigger sound and better tonal dynamics than a standard single-coil pickup could deliver, and he got exactly what he was after in the new hotter Noiseless design of these Fender Hot Noiseless Pickups. Warm and punchy neck pickup tone with a bluesy feel, and a bridge pickup that screams at high gain. The clean tone is clear and very full. These pickups deliver the best definition and sensitivity that has ever graced the Strat. Set of 3.

Decided to update my 1980 Strat as the original pups were picking up noise from all the electronics at home and shielding made no difference. AMAZED that they are absolutely noiseless. The sound is very detailed with lots of highs especially the bridge pup and the output is hotter than the originals, but not nearly as loud as the humbuckers in my other axe. With the old pups I always left the tone and volume at 10, but now I use the both controls to good effect, bringing the highs down for a more even or fatter sound, and bringing the highs back to cut thru on a solo or with heavy distortion. They do not sound like humbuckers, just louder single coils with lots of range using all new 250K tone pots (not included). 2 things to note, they are 1/4" deeper than my original pups and required routing on this model strat and the bridge poll pieces are spaced wider than the other 2 pups which prevented me from swapping with my original black pup covers. Had to stick with the aged white covers for now.

I have had these in my MIA strat for 7 mos. These pickups don't make me smile. They don't have the mojo I was hoping for. However-- after endless adjustment-- they are a very useable set of pickups, and dare I say, an upgrade from stock. The hot noiseless are a very warm, balanced pup with just noticeably more thickness, output, and sustain than stock (and of course, they are noiseless). Now some of the "bad" stuff. 1) While still clearly strat pickups, they lose a lot of the characteristic quack and twang. 2) I found the pups very dark. I had to tune up from E-flat and change my strings to 10s. 3) These are not hot pups. In fact, no guitar in my arsenal drives my amp less. I play though a vox AC15C1, and the cranked top boost might as well be clean. 4) The bridge pup has the same resistance as the other two. Maybe this was on purpose as my bridge is now my only twangy pickup, which is nice. 5) What people are saying about the sweet spot being hard to find is true. Mind you: these pickups are not bad. If you *need* a noiseless pickup and want a fuller frequency response at the expense of some character, these could be your pups. Hell, I am keeping them for now-- I just got them where I like them. But I bet you and I can both do better.

Best of both worlds - Single coil chime and no buzz

By Kevin

Comments about Fender Hot Noiseless 3 Pickup Set:

I wanted to bring my HH Big Apple Strat back to the basic 3 single coil configuration. I listed to every sound clip I could find on all Fender's pickups and some Seymour Duncans. I liked these the best and am very happy with the sound. NO BUZZ, but loads of Fender chime and tone to spare. I had the switching built with a 6th pickup option for neck and bridge, like the Telecaster. Perfect tone. No regrets.

Owned and played for 5 years

    By Phil

    from Bolivar, MO

Comments about Fender Hot Noiseless 3 Pickup Set:

After 5 years, I can tell you they are a drastic up-grade from my original Mexican strat's pick-ups and they haven't given me a single problem. All of the pick-up reduce or eliminate noise, sound great with gain and effects. The bridge has no twang, sounds a bit more clear than the other two, and is perfect, PERFECT, for woman tone. The middle pick-up has a great crunch to it and channels amazing classic rock and dirty blues tones. The reason I wrote this review and why I didn't give them 5 stars is the bridge pick-up. The bridge is loud and has a great blues twang to it. I play a lot of blues and I love it for that, however, it lacks the iconic brightness we're used to from a strat bridge pick-up. As much as I love the blues tone, I'd prefer a brighter bridge pick-up. That lack of brightness takes some energy and sharpness out that I miss when playing. My set-up: Blackstar HT-5, C.O.T. 50, Joe Bonamassa FuzzFace, EVH Flanger & Phase 90, Verbzilla, Deluxe Memory Man OX.

    Amazing Pickups

    By Kevin

    from San Clemente CA

Comments about Fender Hot Noiseless 3 Pickup Set:

Dropped a set of these into my MIM strat and now, not only is my Strat absolutely humless, but it sounds amazing as well. Not something that I've seen most people talk about, but the neck/middle pups are great for funk. 5/5 definitely.

    Excellent Fender Pickups

    By Russ B.

    from Alexandria, VA

Comments about Fender Hot Noiseless 3 Pickup Set:

Upgraded the pickups on my electric and am completely satisfied with them! From the bridge pup, to the middle, to the neck, they offer a great range of tone. Definitely more powerful, clearer, and toneful than my last set and works great with a Boss SD-1 pedal. Highly recommended pickups!

    Much Better!!!

    By mrmitch31

    from Dalton, GA

Comments about Fender Hot Noiseless 3 Pickup Set:

I ordered last Monday, received last Thursday, and installed that night in about 45 minutes. They went into a Sunburst 1997 Fender California Series Strat (Made in America). That guitar orginally came with the Fender Tex Mex Pickups which were ok and had served me well for the last 13 years but were slightly rusted and were picking up a lot of noise from electronics so I decided to drop in some of these Hot Noiseless Pickups. The install went very smoothly and this was my first time changing pickups on any guitar. The difference in sound is drastic, these have more sustain and a much more dynamic tonal range than the Tex Mex Pickups did. I can still get that twangy strat sound just fine but these pick up harmonics and tremolo fluctuations much better! If you like distortion you will be in for a treat because you can really get some raunchy sounds out of these pickups. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. They haven't made my guitar completely silent but it is pretty close and compaired to the noise it you used to pick up it is night and day. Do you and your strat a favor and get a set!

    Fender's Hot Noiseless 3's

    By Capt.Casual

    from West Bloomfield, MI

Comments about Fender Hot Noiseless 3 Pickup Set:

These are the pickups that Jeff Beck worked closely with Fender to develop. The order arrived quickly and the pickups went into my 1998 Roland-ready American-made Strat without a hitch. They are quiet as expected, and the middle/bridge position and middle/neck positions (positions 2 & 4) still have the bite, without the noise you get at the 1, 3, & 5 positions. Very nice improvement to anyone looking to goose up your tone without the 60 hz hum. All settings are usable all of the time now. Only one small problem: They call the pickups "white", and as of this writing you can only order "white", but the pickups are acutally an IVORY color. So if you're a perfectionist and your pickups have to be white-white....for me, it's worth it, and the color mis-match is truly not all that noticable and my pickguard/knobs/GK-3 are all pure white.
