There seems to be some confusion about Highway Ones. These guitars are American, and they play nearly identical to their American Standard counterparts. They merely lack the ridiculous lacquer coating. The satin finish is beautiful (I picked Midnight Wine with Maple), and the AlNiCo pickups are, in my opinion, much stronger than the ones offered on the American Deluxe. The neck pickup sounds fantastic for rhythm. If you want to rock, this is the Telecaster you want. Fender has discontinued these puppies, so buy one while you have the chance.

I keep looking at teles and keep thinking I will find one I like better, but have not. The pick ups sound nice. I have the Joe Bardon saddles on it mostly just for looks, but it helped the intonation. Went with 10s due to the big frets (like those too). It stays in tune amazingly well. Love the baseball bat neck. I probly have more hours on this guitar than both my strats.
Very good tele.
The tone is very very good. To me it sounds as good as more expensive teles. Also it has the best ashtray. The material is thick and formed very well. The corners of the ashtray are not crinkled and wrinkled like the reissues. The greasebucket tone control works well. Lots of folks are put off by the finish. I was too, so I polished it - done - thick nitro finish.
Excellent value in a tele. Dont go MIM get one of these.

2008 Fender Highway One Telecaster

By Leo Donoghue

from Delray Beach, FL

Comments about Fender Highway One Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

For the price, new or used, you get an American made iconic sounding Telecaster with that very important "Made in USA" decal on the headstock. The pickups rock the house with no 60hz humm like I had with my strat till I swapped out the originals for noiseless. This guitar is just a no bones workhorse ready to be used and abused and with a little tlc now and then should last you a few lifetimes!
Whats to feature on a no bones guitar?
The only drawback is the standard 3 saddle bridge which I remedied while the guitar was on it's way.
The only thing other than the bridge would be the finnish on the body but it gives the guitar character!
I bought this guitar almost new for a song, Not a scratch on it but I have since knocked it around a bit in the studio. (see character comment above)

Wonderful Telecaster tones with extra warmth

By Lawrence Intalan

from Qatar

Comments about Fender Highway One Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

It still amazes me just how versatile a Telecaster can be, and the Greasebucket simply adds more and more sounds to your fingertips. Tons of sound can be made from this, especially when matched with a good amp. But even on small practice amps, the guitar sounds excellent.
The big frets, thin nitro finish and no-nonsense approach make this guitar extremely alluring.
Best quality and affordable American-made Telecaster.

Comments about Fender Highway One Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Great guitar for the money. I added a black pickguard & brass saddles. Pickups are great, I have no complaints. Maple neck plays beautifully. Buy one before they are gone.

Not Bad, Fender...

By Martinman

Comments about Fender Highway One Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

If you want a good, solid, American made electric guitar, check this out. You can pay more and get a fancier one, but this one is all there for the money. And you can swap out components to suit yourself. If you are a fan of an ash tray bridge, try this baby out. I bought mine for playing in the bar so I don't have to abuse my favorites, but it is rapidly growing on me. You really can't go wrong...
Features on a Telecaster? That's why I like them, they are all simplicity and function. However, I could do without the greasebucket tone control (it is properly named). I am not a fan of super jumbo frets (speed bumps), although some people like them. The nitro finish is a joke. I love nitro, but this is more like whitewash for a fence. I changed out the saddles for brass barrels, and what a tone difference! And I love the ash tray bridge.
This guitar is well made, with no quality control issues. The tuners are good, the fretwork is good, and the pickups sound decent, although I prefer the ones on the American Standard. I even managed to get the intonation close...
This is the best deal going. Plain Jane, but a US made Tele with good quality control for a reasonable price. You get your choice of a rosewood or maple fretboard. What American electric guitar is a better deal? So what if it's ugly?

High One Tele

By Robert Webb

from Arkansas

Comments about Fender Highway One Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I love to play this guitar. The frets are perfect, the action is good, and the tone is classic tele. I wish the finish was a little more durable, but other than that I am pleased.
As it came, it was alright. I made a few adjustments to better suit my playing. I changed out the 3 saddle bridge for a 6 saddle bridge. I replaced the tuners with locking tuners, but other than those few little changes, I love the guitar.
It is not an American Standard. However, for the price (American Made) it is an good quality guitar. The finish is kind of a disapointment. I like the flat finish look, but if you bump the guitar the pain flakes off. Mine is black with a maple neck. I have had it for about a year. I am an active player. Every time I set up it seems to have a new character mark. I have a 20 year old American Standard Strat that travels with me. It looks new in comparison to my Tele. I LOVE this tele for it's tone and feel, but I think I am going to just give up on the finish and go for the weathered look.
