Overview

Fat frets and hot alnico-magnet single-coils equip this Highway One Telecaster electric guitar so that it's music to your ears, candy for your eyes, and butter under your fingers. The new pickups on the Highway One Telecaster guitar produce a more round sound with that great Fender sparkle; it also has great high-gain sounds. Vintage-style bridge sports barrel saddles on an alder body with a maple neck. Ultralight satin nitro finish lets the wood breathe and ages sweetly.

There seems to be some confusion about Highway Ones. These guitars are American, and they play nearly identical to their American Standard counterparts. They merely lack the ridiculous lacquer coating. The satin finish is beautiful (I picked Midnight Wine with Maple), and the AlNiCo pickups are, in my opinion, much stronger than the ones offered on the American Deluxe. The neck pickup sounds fantastic for rhythm. If you want to rock, this is the Telecaster you want. Fender has discontinued these puppies, so buy one while you have the chance.

I was looking for a tele and picked a highway one model up and was impressed, but that is, until I picked up the American standard. If you want a decent guitar, this is the one, but if you want a great guitar and have the extra couple hundred bucks, go for the standard.

close, but

By terry

nice price of US made and a nice nitro on the body. Pickups sound good. But, quality is a bit off. I got fret buzz on the G. Some of the frets have sharp ends, but worse of all is the three saddle bridge. I can't get this thing in tune. I have a 52 reissue with the three brass saddle bridge and I can tune it fine....and it stays in tune, but not this Hwy One. First thing I'm doing is putting some locking tuners and a good bridge on it. Then, it'll be a nice guitar. Come on Fender and Gibson, take a clue from PRS and improve the QC.

Solid all around

By Jonas

I traded my Studio Les Paul for this thing and couldn't be happier. I've played tons of Tele's and this is one of their best besides the standard. Great sound out of the neck pickup like a normal Tele, but looks cooler with the 3 color. Holds a tune like a charm. Please get this thing. Look up Mogwai too. Proves how boss Tele's are.

INCREDIBLE

By Carson

from Greenville, South Carolina

I have been playing guitar for 10 years, haveht owned 17 guitars, and played several gigs. I have resented Fender guitars from the day I started playing only because I wanted to play something different. I bought this guitar a week ago and have not stopped playing it! Its fretboard is fast and its tone is smooth The only thing i changed was the pick guard. I bought the midnight wine so i thought it would look better with a black pick guard. Its a beautiful guitar and i would recommend it to anyone who plays guitar!

Will evoke Tele-envy from other guitarists.

By Rhodes

from Columbia, SC

This guitar is my new favorite. I had been playing an old Les Paul for years, but wanted to pick up an American Telecaster for country, chicken pickin' and that traditional Fender sound. We play everything from Johnny Cash to the Stones to Delta Blues and it never disappoints. This tele screams and cuts like a knife. It's an excellent deal - I actually prefer it without the frills and the fancy finish. I've been surprised by how many of my gearhear friends have developed tele-envy.

An amazing guitar..

By brian

from Indianapolis, IN

From the second I picked this thing up, it just felt like quality. I went to GC and played all kinds of different Fenders to find that "perfect" one, and once I started playing this one I couldn't put it down. The tones you can get are amazing, from a great classic rock tone to warm blues, anything is possible. I played strats, higher priced teles, and everything else and this really stood above the rest. It's built like a tank and the finish looks amazing. It does scratch really easy, but why pay more for a "relic" when you can do it yourself. This is built to last and the tone is amazing. I highly recommend it.

Really,Really nice!

By GTR-TECH

from Pa.

I may have gotten one of the first year of these to be sold. NIFTY! I still don't like the frets. Way too jazz. NOT jumbos. I love blues and really love to bend, still, after adjusting the neck FLAT I was not displeased with with the overall playability of this gem. The reality is, once this axe has been profesionally set up I have never seen one player, regardless of experience, unhappy with the results. You'll like it. One note: This neck is FAST!

Plain amazing

By munchie

I've had this guitar for about a year now and I've had no trouble with it. It's not a metal guitar, but you can play some early AC/DC riffs on it. If your a big Rolling stones fan then your gonna really like this guitar.

One Attractive Instrument

By Bluebeard

from Tucson, AZ

I picked up one of these in the sunburst finish, with a maple fretboard the other day, and it is an instrument I just can't get over. I love the feel of the neck under my hands; I can't put it down. The pick-ups are great for overdrive, and the controls are simple and tight. The finish of this guitar looks and feels soo sexy, and playing it is a completely different experience. Everything Fender did for this guitar just works, perfectly. Truly American made for true guitar players.
