Well Worth It

By ChronicB

from Cottage Grove, MN

Comments about Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass:

Wanting this bass since hearing about it, I finally broke down (with help of Income Tax Refund), and made the purchase. At first, I was little nervous about the whole shipping thing (the GC in TC,MN did NOT have one in stock at the time), but this was my only option. After all, they get shipped to GC's via UPS, trk or other so...why not. Upon arrival, I quickly opened the box to find absolutely nothing wrong. Packaged well. The box didn't even look like it was tossed around like some "other" packages. Ripping the box open, my eyes were graced by the thing I so coveted for at least 2 years! This guitar looks beautiful! Without hesitation, I plugged her in and my ears were now graced by the crisp, clean and deep sound! I have to admit, being that this bass is made in Japan, my first thoughts were that it wasn't gonna be as good sounding the US models. I was proven wrong. Play ability and the neck are as smooth as glass. Like all the other reviews I've read. For me though, I'm not a fan of having the action as high as what the bass arrived with. But with a little internet searching (actually, Fender.com has a real nice tutorial on bass setups), I proceeded to make the neck/bridge adjustments my self. It's not as scary as one might think. The only problem is that you have to take the pick-guard off in order to the neck truss. A little opposite of most basses. But that isn't a problem...more of a inconvenience than anything. After getting the action to what I want, it was like magic to my fingers! Not to fond of the stock stings, I'm a Rotosound guy and I like my strings a little lighter but once again, an inconvenience. I will do some more tweaking to get this bass exactly where I want it. All in all, well worth the price! Thanx Guitar Center and Fender and most importantly, Mr. Lee for providing all that us bass players want and need.

AMAZING BASS!

By Dino

from Windsor ON

Comments about Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass:

I played this bass at one of the local music stores, and I loved it. I currently own a Schecter Stilleto Custom 5, and I thought that nothing would ever beat it but I was wrong. I am planning on buying this bass in the next couple of weeks. I would easily trade in my Schecter.

Great Bass

By Mrmojam

from Sound Beach

Comments about Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass:

This bass plays exceptionally well. The neck is super smooth and fast. I also own an Epiphone, Schecter Elite 5 and Warwick Rockbass, but the Geddy Lee Fender is the one I reach for most of the time. I read all of the great reviews before I tried the bass and I have to say they were dead on. If you are looking for a bass and haven't tried this one please do so before you buy anything else, you will be glad you did.

New First Love

By Ken Woodward

from West Haven, UT

Comments about Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass:

I've been playing for 35 years and have to say I've never played a Bass that had this good of tone right out of the gate. No wonder Geddy loves this bass. Fast neck, Tons of growl with great harmonics. I have 7 Jazz basses that I have used in the past for live and studio performances. This one tops them all. I think the only change I'll make for mine is to put a white perloid pickguard on it. From one bass player to another, "You must have one of these. Ken

Awesome

By Al

from Fredericksburg, VA

Comments about Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass:

I am use to playing schecter basses but I think that this will be the next bass I buy. It's lightweight compared to my schecter 5 string and the neck is so comfortable that I played things that I struggle with originally. This is a must buy for any bassist.

Love at first feel

By Art

from Ocean City NJ

Comments about Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass:

Finally found a bass I like as much as the '68 P-bass I sold 5 years ago. I like everything about this bass, nice thin comfortable neck, basass bridge and looks great too. My brother talked me out of buying anything but a Fender and he was absolutely right. If you play this bass you won't settle for any other, its that good.

Great Bass

By Wince

from Orlando, FL

Comments about Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass:

I purchased my Geddy Lee three years ago. I play it through an Eden rig. It is a great bass guitar. While I have five bass guitars, this is my primary bass. I love the sound of a jazz bass (I have two), this one is the best of the best. The action is high from the factory set up. Spend the extra money to have it set up by a good luthier. But if you do you can play this bass for hours on end at a gig. For the money, nothing else will beat this bass.

Unique - tp say the least

By Cygnus X-191

from St. Louis, MO

Comments about Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass:

I've been playing the GL J-bass at guitar center for several months now. Compared to my SX Guitars PBass custom, the Fender GL Bass is superior in all regards. The neck is very slim, has great action, and looks beautiful. While the pickups are a nice change from a knockoff brand P/J bass combo, I believe a lot of Geddy's particullar tone may reside in the ampheads he uses. While this is a great bass (especially for the price!) as far as tonal variety goes, it does leave a bit to be desired. For example, the active pickups on an Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray (my other bass) have a much much wider tonal variety than the GL. BUT...for a budget, you can get the bass used my GEDDY LEE of Rush. For a sample of what this bass can do, I recomend RUSH IN RIO (MX multiangle view on YYZ). Overall, one of the best deals I have ever seen on the market.

Great Sounding Bass

By Mr.Anderson5150

from Noblesville, IN

Comments about Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass:

While it's true I'm not a bass player, the bassist in my band just bought this bass a few weeks ago and I think it sounds so much better than his old one. This one doesn't make a bad popping noise when it's slapped, like his old one did. Since he bought it, he's been playing so much better than before, so, needless to say, that makes me and the rest of the band happier.

Must Have for Bassists!

By Philly from Motown

from Modesto, CA

Comments about Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass:

I played this at the store on an Ampeg Amp. The sound was amazing. It's easy to tune, fun to play, and a blast to show off with. A bit pricey, but wait for a sale and snap that sucker up. That's what I'm doing.
