The Fender G-DEC 3 Fifteen puts 15W of power into a 1x8 combo amp in Fender's Guitar Digital Entertainment Center series. The G-DEC 3 Fifteen takes an exciting leap forward in technology and content with easy computer connectivity. An additional bonus is that many of the Fender G-DEC 3 amp's 100 presets and audio performance loops are created by the world's top artists and session aces.

The G-DEC 3's wealth of backing tracks consists not of generic presets and loops, but rather a stylistically diverse sonic smorgasbord of tracks created specially for Fender by top rock, blues, metal, and country artists and session players.

These include Eric Johnson, Charlie Benante and Frank Bello (Anthrax), Phil Collen (Def Leppard), Joe Trohman (Fall Out Boy), Brad Paisley, Dweezil Zappa, Jim "Rev. Horton Heat" Heath, Keith Urban, Hatebreed, Nils Lofgren, Gary Hoey, Crooked X, Strung Out, and many others.

Consequently, the G-DEC 3 can be easily configured as an "all rock," "all metal," "all blues," "all country," etc., amp personally tailored to the user's own musical tastes.

The G-DEC 3 Fifteen also includes the exclusive Fender FUSE software interface, which lets the amp connect to a computer as easily as a digital camera, without need for any special adapters or hardware. Fender FUSE lets the user download and upload backing tracks, edit performance parameters, and swap files with a worldwide community of players.

A wonderful learning amp with many features

By Jose Martinez

from San Jose, CA

Comments about Fender G-DEC 3 Fifteen 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I'm teaching myself guitar using a couple of DVD/CD learning kits. This amp is ideal for this type of instruction. I can easily put MP3 play-along lessons on an SD card, and this amp readily allows me to play alongside. Basically, this is a full-featured emulation amp and MP3 player all-in-one. A couple of points. The FUSE software is excellent. It installed quickly, and provides dozens of amps, settings, modulation options, effects, and more. It's graphical, and looks great on the laptop, with large, detailed pictures of each amp, along with great pictures of various effects pedals and processors. It's very intuitive to just click and change settings. In face, you can completely control every aspect of amp operation through the (included) USB cable and the FUSE software. First rate, a jjoy to use. Stand-alone, amp operation is bit trickier, but not difficult. My minor shortcoming is documentation. It's pretty sparse, even with the online manuals. The amp does come with a video tutorial on DVD, but hey, if I'm watching video tutorials, I want to watch guitar lessons! Anyway, given the many options, it takes a bit of looking around to figure things out. For example, MP3 files play readily, but you have to place them in the "Audio" folder of the SD card to get the amp to find them. Volume, tone, and other knobs in the software look great, but they operate a bit funny. You don't rotate them on-screen, you actually click on the "knob", then mouse straight up or down to vary the setting. A bit non-intuitive, but once you know this trick, very easy. All-in-all, and excellent product at a great price that allows a beginner like myself to try out dozens of amps, effects chains, etc. while easily playing along with downloaded or included backing tracks. Thanks Fender!

Totally worth it.

Comments about Fender G-DEC 3 Fifteen 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

Ok, where the heck has this thing been all my life? Seriously. This is not only a decent amp, The Fender propaganda for this product shows that it can record loops and playback music for you to jam along. Which is very cool. But what it doesn't show you is that the 3 series is also a computer interface that sends your guitar to the PC, it comes with a multi track recording software and a computer controller for the amp that has a variety of effects, amp emulations, and play along clips. Downsides, it's a little expensive, but considering what it can do it's worth it. Also, it was way too tricky for me to get it to work with the multi track software. I did eventually figure it out but it was not intuitive. Also, as mentioned in other posts, the included DVD is pretty much worthless. And online support isn't much better. Anyway, if you're a hobbyist or beginner I highly recommend checking this thing out. If you're semi pro this might help you out too to easily and cheaply experiment with gear to find the sound you're looking for.

I needed this 40 years ago. I played with many bands and groups over the years and this would have expanded my ability to play with a lot more creativety.

Innovative failure

By Don Brozz

from Providence RI

Comments about Fender G-DEC 3 Fifteen 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I was very excited to get my new G-Dec home and take it for a test drive. My excitement however, was short lived, I'll explain. First off, I'll mention the things I love about the G-DEC. It's small, lightweight and has a ton of functionality built into a user friendly compact package. The backing tracks are very well done, sound great and are a lot of fun to jam with. Unfortunately, this is where the fun stops, and the ugliness begins. The FUSE software that runs the amp is horrible. Its has more bugs than the initial release of Windows 98 ((or Windows Vista, for you younger folks)). The amp crashes, locks up, refuses to save your settings and saved files and generally misbehaves as badly as any beta version software Ive ever seen. Sadly, the software isnt beta. Check out the official Fender FUSE forums, you'll be able to read all about the debacle that the G-DEC software has become. Also, even though the amp does many things, it does none of them particularly well. ((except the previously mentioned backing tracks)). The amp models are poor, and the effects are worse, particularly the overdrive effects. They are by far the worst Ive encountered, anywhere, ever. The included Abelton LIVE recording software is so badly crippled that you will feel like they offered you a watered down demo just to get you to try the program. Its also has a VERY steep learning curve. When its not crashing / locking up your pc, that is. overall I cant recommend the G-DEC series to anyone. Its just too buggy, poor sounding and seems generally "unfinished" compared to other modern day hardware / software amps that are available. 1 out of 5 stars.

Good Amp - Poor Documentation - Software SUCKS Bigtime

By Rick Simpson

from McLean, Va

Comments about Fender G-DEC 3 Fifteen 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I got the amp for practicing with backing tracks, particularly tracks that I can make myself and later add to or play along with/practice. The amp has lots of capability, but you have to be willing to learn it all on your own since Fender's "Owner's Manual" is just awful. The barest of information (likely to save paper since they give you the manual in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, and Japanese!!!! Try recording a "phrase" as Fender calls it; not easy since the instructions are sooooooo sketchy. Want to make your own music? Fender gives you Ambleton Lite Live 8 - you would need a semester course to run the software. The touted "FUSE" software also is poorly documented. Bottom line - a nice idea, poorly executed because of the documentation and cumbersome software. Maybe some user will take pity on us not tech types and generate a better "how to" users manual.

What a hoot!

By James Garrick

Comments about Fender G-DEC 3 Fifteen 15W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I recently purchased a Fender G-DEC 3 Fifteen from Guitar Center and wanted to pass along how pleased I am. I was looking for a small practice amp to use that would not annoy the wife and keep me amused at the same time. The G-Dec 3 fifteen fits the bill beautifully. You can read from the specs and other reviews here about the capabilities of this amp. Very impressive. I will say you need to be a bit of a computer geek to get the most out of it. I recommend you immediately download and install the latest FUSE software and amp Firmware. The Firmware upgrade seemed to improve the sound of the amp measurably. The FUSE software rates a WOW. Its very complete, institutive and compelling to use. The sound of the amp is better then I expected. I have had other larger modeling amps in the past, and I can say this one sounds better to me, especially after the firmware update. It also sounds very good a low volume levels, which is what I am looking for. I would recommend this amp for anyone who wants a compelling practice tool that has massive flexibility and support available directly from Fender. You can download packages from the G-Dec 3 site to convert focus your amp on the style of music that interests you, Metal, Country, or Blues. Good stuff.
