Fender Frontman great amp

By Lawrence Coleman

from West Palm Beach, FL

Comments about Fender Frontman 212R FSR Limited Edition Red 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Received this bright red fender frontman amp through the mail system with no problems. That's good because I needed it that very next night at a gig I played at. I was surprised at the clear solid sound it gave me. Just the right amount of reverb. Everything worked out great. Not a heavy amp. Easy to pick up and move around. The guys in the band were giving me a hard time because of the bright red color but it stands out and sounds great. After the gig, they were impressed. Now I need to get a board to hook up with it and channel the sounds I need to use.

Dang! That's loud!

Comments about Fender Frontman 212R FSR Limited Edition Red 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Great amp, in a great color, at a great price! It's light weight, bright in color, and is louder than my ex-wife during my divorce trial! I'm actually downsizing from a full stack Marshall (sick of lugging it all around) and am amazed at the brightness and sheer volume that this little gem throws at you. Thanks for saving my back and my wallet!

Comments about Fender Frontman 212R FSR Limited Edition Red 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

i tried this amp when i got it. It has a nice clean tone, the best tone i have ever heard. the red color really stands out and i dont regret buying it. the disortion is really cool too not that heavy and not that crunchy lol. A good loud amp perfect for small gigs or a little bigger. I dont even get halfway the volume when im at my house practicing with it. A good choice buying this with a good price too. i recommend it to anyone.

Good starter amp

Comments about Fender Frontman 212R FSR Limited Edition Red 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

If you are a beginning musician and you need an amp that will be nice and loud, this is great. 100 watts, 2 twelve inch speakers, its a little monster. Amp weighs just under 50 pounds i believe. Clean Channel) its clean tones are versatile and crisp. Lacking a little warmth but still very good. Goes to very high volumes and doesn't distort at all. Comes with a treble, mid, and bass control. They also adjust volume, so turning down treble will also reduce volume. Not a problem--just something to remember when using it. Crunch) leaves something to be desired. There's too much treble and not a huge amount of gain. You can manipulate it to sound good, ex) killing the treble and maxing the bass. other amps have better crunch. That being said, its not BAD. There is a mid contour button which scoops the sound a bit and gives it a more modern distortion. Or, in my opinion, a better one. With out it the treble and mid's destroy everything. It has a "more drive" button which adds about 4 points on the drive scale (which goes to 10.) this is very handy on the foot switch as the more drive switch can be used as a boost pedal. the speakers don't distort until the volume is around 8, so that's good. Treble mid and bass knobs dont lower volume, just tone. Reverb) tinny, not super powerful, BUT it still works. Tinny isn't really a bad thing in this case--and it may just be a problem with the preamp. This amp overall is just treble-y and bright (too bright sometimes). The lack of power means if your looking for gnarly prog rock fx this reverb won't cut it. other) 5 holes on your amp. 1) main input for passive pickups 2) -10db/-15db input for active pickups. i've run two guitars through it also and it sounds okay. Its just hard to distinguish the two. very handy in practice, not good for gigs. 3)footswitch out. use the footswitch it comes with so you can do clean, crunch, and more crunch channels. sturdy pedal too. you could probably run it over with a car and it would still work. (don't quote me on that) 4) pre out so you can use the guitars preamp and run it into a PA or recording device. Does NOT act as a headphone jack because the speakers still stay on. But if you're lacking a preamp for microphones and you're recording guitar, this will save you 5) power in. This has 2 functions. first, it bypasses the preamp so you could use this as a Cabnet. If you have a tube head, (i haven't tried this) you SHOULD be able to hook it up and use the speakers. Good option if you're moving up to tube amps and dont wanna buy a cab yet, but you have this amp around. Second, you can use it as an FX loop. Im not totally sure how it works but i think it works like this: plug guitar into standard input. then run a cable out of the pre out, into your pedals, and back into the power in. if you need a different order of preamps/pedals this is for you. most people just do all their pedals before the input though. so i don't really understand the purpose. All in all, good amp. especially for the money. its not GREAT but among solid states its a solid amp. pun completely intended. sorry. :D
