I've been playing for quite a few years now, and this was the amp I started out on. I still own it but I rarely use it because I replaced it with something a bit louder. Really though, that was my only problem with it. Don't let size or wattage fool you...I've been using this for band practice and recording for 3 years now and it still sounds great. I recorded with a producer I knew one time and he told me I had great tone...so for 80 bucks, this thing really kicks out some great fender tone, from warm distortion, to metal, to clean. It has awesome distortion from low gain to high and can really be used witha variety of styles. I played with a band over drums and one loud bass and they even had to tell me to turn it down sometimes. This thing sounds great and beginers will definatley not be dissapointed altough if you're looking to play shows of any type, I'd got for something a bit louder.

Well, this amp has a decent sounding clean channel, but that's where the positives end. The Drive channel sounds terrible. I would suggest instead of buying this amp, get a low wattage tube amp. Something like a Vox AC4TV or a Fender Champion 600. The Vox AC4TV does many different types of rock easily and the Fender Champion 600 is great with a tube screamer in front of it. Don't waste your money on any of Fender's Frontman amps, they're all like this.

Begginer Perfection

By Carolina Quinones

from Enfield, CT

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

I got this as my first amp with an Ibanez Gio, and at first honestly I didn't know how to use it, because it didn't come with a manual, but eventually I learned how to use it, and now I get the best of it, it's a perfect amp for begginers, and with it's settings it's pretty easy to use, with it's EQ and two channels, I say no amp is better and cheaper for a person who just started playing electric guitar.

NICE!

By John Carr

from Silverdale, WA

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

I just bought this today from my local music store, i was excited to get home and plug it in, and i was amazed at how AWESOME it sounds, especially the clean tone, nice, crisp, clear, tones on EVERY note of every string on my guitar, and when you turn on the overdrive, then the fun begins, the distortion-like effects it gives you, and how loud it gets, the floor was actually shaking, but of courser cause i have neighbors i had to turn it down, but in genreal, very nice sounds, looks nice also, and for a very decent price, i would recommend it to a beginner, or as a practice amp, especially for those on a bugdet

Beginner Amp

By Tyler

from Winchester, CA

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

I got this amp used. The overdrive is good for styles from blues to metal. This amp is perfect for playing in small venues. It doesn't take up too much space. My only gripe, it started buzzing exceedingly except when I plugged my pedals into my computer. Great beginner amp.

Surpisingly Good.

By Nick

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

I got this amp with my fender squier strat a few years ago, i thought it was the best amp i will ever have... WELL it really surprised me when i got the hang of playing guitar that.. THIS THING IS LOUD. for the size, it is actually a 38 watt amp. not a 15, so obviously those 23 extra watts helped. the overdrive channel is sick, if used with hum buckers of course. Its not that friendly with pedals. Actually it hates them. so if your getting this amp it is a PRACTICE amp not recommended for anything but your small church gig. Experienced players stay away.

Good starter amp

By Dirk Figowitz

from Albion, NY

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

When my brother first started playing electric guitar, my mom got him the Squier Strat and Frontman 15G Combo Starter Pack. The clean channel is that "Fender clean' that many hype about (I prefer Peavey's clean channel, but whatever). The distortion is where it falls short. it is a decent, high gain distortion (more gain then my Classic 30 on low volumes, on high, the Peavey will murder this thing). If you turn the Drive past 9 or 10, it gets very noisy with an annoying hiss. It sounds decent though. Very "brown-sounding" distortion. The problem I have with this is no reverb, so for surf music or like an EVH tone, with lots of reverb, this isn't for you. Unless, you have a delay or reverb pedal. You want one or the other if you are buying this amp, so be prepared to spend extra money outside of this amp. Other than that, it is a decent sounding starter amp.

Could be better

By Nick

from Chicago

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

I've had this amp for about a month it's ok but doesn't give out good sound and i know it's the amp cause I have a Les Paul the best guitar ever... But if you don't have the guitar volume on ten the amp buzzes and if the gain is up to high the amp will play the note or chord let it fade out well a high piched sound gets louder and louder

A lot of Boom for the Buck

By milo

from Philadelphia, PA

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp after playing for about ten years because I needed something smaller for my apartment. So far my only issue with this amp is how loud it gets. You can hear it outside when I'm playing at only 2. I don't care for the built it distortion, and I use my pedal board through this with no problem. If you're starting out or need something smaller, look no further, but do yourself a favor and get a nice distortion pedal to run through this.

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

Got this amp and its great. its great for beginners and the drive tone is fair. If your into the metal stuff i recommend a boss MD-2 orML-2. Sounds awesome when you plug your headphones and turn it up with the drive on. A perfect amp to start off with.

Pretty sweet!

By J-Dizzle

from Wichita, KS

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

This is actually quite a surprising little amp. It came as a package deal with my Squier Affinity Strat, which was my first electric. So here goes my review on this amp, which will be based on three qualities: tone, power, and lifetime. TONE: This thing is a monster when it comes to sound. The clean channel has a beautiful sparkle, while the distortion channel has a real fat tone that varies from a light overdrive to heavy metal distortion. Overall tone = 5 stars. POWER: Let's be real. If you buy a 15 watt solid state amp, you'll get what you pay for. 15 watts. But hey, it's a great little amp for practicing until you can handle something with a little more muscle. Power = 3 stars LIFETIME: Man, was i impressed with this... I owned this amp for 6 whole years and cranked it up every day whenever i played. I even played "shows" at my church and it held up. 6 years with an amp like this? definitely worth it. Lifetime = 6 out of 5 stars. So when it comes down to it, if you're buying your first electric (no matter what genre you play), check this amp out. you WON'T be disappointed!

Yes But No

By Austin

from Colorado Springs, Colorado

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

This was my first amp ever and I've been playing a little over two years. I thought it was amazing but then I played with some other amps and realized this one was horrible. the only benifit is that eventually, you will train your ear to notice how bad of quality it is
