I've been playing for quite a few years now, and this was the amp I started out on. I still own it but I rarely use it because I replaced it with something a bit louder. Really though, that was my only problem with it. Don't let size or wattage fool you...I've been using this for band practice and recording for 3 years now and it still sounds great. I recorded with a producer I knew one time and he told me I had great tone...so for 80 bucks, this thing really kicks out some great fender tone, from warm distortion, to metal, to clean. It has awesome distortion from low gain to high and can really be used witha variety of styles. I played with a band over drums and one loud bass and they even had to tell me to turn it down sometimes. This thing sounds great and beginers will definatley not be dissapointed altough if you're looking to play shows of any type, I'd got for something a bit louder.

Well, this amp has a decent sounding clean channel, but that's where the positives end. The Drive channel sounds terrible. I would suggest instead of buying this amp, get a low wattage tube amp. Something like a Vox AC4TV or a Fender Champion 600. The Vox AC4TV does many different types of rock easily and the Fender Champion 600 is great with a tube screamer in front of it. Don't waste your money on any of Fender's Frontman amps, they're all like this.

A Great little amp

By Brian1711

from Wickliffe, OH

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

This was the first guitar amp that I ever owned. It is a pretty impressive amp, with a very clean sound, a pretty good distortion mode, an equalizer, and an excellent price. For a beginner, I would highly recommend this amp.

Loud + Clean Tone

By Mandotar

from Virginia

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

The 15G has all the features that a beginning guitarist will need. That doesn't necessarily mean that it's for beginners. It's clear, loud sound can be used for small gigs. I've owned this amp for about a year and it still sounds as good as new. I recommend this AWESOME amp.

Just for kicks

By Wish I was Jimmy Page

from Ohio

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

I'm borrowing this amp off a friend and I'm playing a Hamer Scarab on it and it sounds pretty good. I usually have the gain up to 10, the bass and treble up to 10 and the mid up to 3 or 4. With the volume set at about 5 or 6, you can easily be over a drummer. I play almost weekly with a drummer and bass player and everything is great. I'd much rather prefer a 120 watt head with cab and all that but I just don't have that kind of money laying around. Reverb would be nice too but as I said, this will get the job done very well. The clean is nice to although I rarely use it unless I'm playing the intro to Bring It On Home(Zeppelin version) or similar stuff.

Great Fender Tone

By Teleman392

from Cali, Colombia

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

Just like all Fender's great amps... Great clean tone, and excellent distortion... You can play all styles you want. This amp is a must-have for players that want a Fender quality tone, but do not have the money for a Twin Reverb or Tone Master.... Fender rocks!!!!

beginners only

By joey pedroza

from Santa Ana, CA

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

When i first started playing guitar, this amp was great. It did everything i needed. However, beyond that, i would not recommend this amp. In order to hear this amp over drums, it needs to be set almost at full volume. this eventually burned it out for me and it cannot be heard unless the volume is at almost 3. Even at 3, the sound dies out pretty quickly. In conclusion, if you are anything but a beginner, i would not buy this amp. But if you are just learning how to play guitar, this amp will satisfy all of your needs.

Pretty sweet!

By J-Dizzle

from Wichita, KS

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

This is actually quite a surprising little amp. It came as a package deal with my Squier Affinity Strat, which was my first electric. So here goes my review on this amp, which will be based on three qualities: tone, power, and lifetime. TONE: This thing is a monster when it comes to sound. The clean channel has a beautiful sparkle, while the distortion channel has a real fat tone that varies from a light overdrive to heavy metal distortion. Overall tone = 5 stars. POWER: Let's be real. If you buy a 15 watt solid state amp, you'll get what you pay for. 15 watts. But hey, it's a great little amp for practicing until you can handle something with a little more muscle. Power = 3 stars LIFETIME: Man, was i impressed with this... I owned this amp for 6 whole years and cranked it up every day whenever i played. I even played "shows" at my church and it held up. 6 years with an amp like this? definitely worth it. Lifetime = 6 out of 5 stars. So when it comes down to it, if you're buying your first electric (no matter what genre you play), check this amp out. you WON'T be disappointed!

BEFORE YOU GET THIS AMP!

By Anonymous

from Milwaukee, WI

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is the touchiest amp in existance, if you have any of the settings too high it will screech. This amp does not do well with effect pedals it screeches and gives me headaches even when every nob is set to 1. If your a beginner it is an okay amp, but if you are experienced, you can find a better amp for alot cheaper. This amp is not worth the $90.

100% pure JUNK!!

By Ken

from Lumberton

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

100% pure JUNK!! This amp is best suited for some tone deaf teenager stuck in a basement someplace that just wants to make noise. Fender should be embarrassed to have their name on it. I guess in life you get what you pay for, and in this case that ainۡt much. Good luck!

Prone to Line Hum

By Roadguy

from Houston TX

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought one of these and took it back for another one because it seemed prone to line hum. The next one had the same problem. I kept it because I thought it may be my guitar but I have changed guitars and changed locations. In situations with other amps mine is the only one that hums. I have to say I am disappointed. Several friends of mine have them and they seem fine so clearly it is not all of these amps.

AWESOME AMP

By a great guitarist

from beaumont, CA

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is the absolute perfect amp for beginners. With the 3-band EQ, gain, overdrive volume, and clean volume, it really teaches beginners how to tweak an amp to find certain sounds. With mine I've been able to get tones ranging from Metallica's clean fade to black to Guns N' Roses distorted sweet child o' mine. I've had mine for at least 6 months and I still haven't run into any problems.

The worst amp, even for $80

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

If you have any more money in you're pocket, and even if you don't have any more than $80, do not waste your money on this amp. It has nothing except for a Clean way-too-deep sound, and a annoying dirty sound. Even for a beginner this amp stinks. The quality is nonexistent. Has annoying buzz and blows easily. Sounds gross. I got this wit a Strat Pack and I regret ever getting the amp.

It`s s great amp!!!!!!

By ILIKEROCK220

from Los Angleles ,California

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

I used to have a Ibanez blaster amp for a few months and it broke so I bought this amp and the distortion sounded sort of fuzzy so I bought a simple multi effect pedal (RP50) and it sounded great. So for any of you that want to buy this amp buy with any multi effect pedal you can afford or single effects.

WORKS WELL

By Paul

from Jersey

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

I got this as my first amp. It works fairly well, if your practicing by yourself. It can get very loud and has very nice overdrive features. Although mine is just now staring to crackling noise. I've had it for 9 months. If you want an amp for a beginner or one to substitute for a while this ones great.

bad overdrive

By Michele

from Washington, DC

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

This is the amp that came with the beginner stat pack. I play mostly acoustic, decided I wanted to pick up electric. In normal mode, it's ok. Not the best tone ever, but not bad for someone like me. As soon as I put it into overdrive, that's when the problems start happening. I get buzzing that won't go away, and worse, it's started to pick up radio stations. I moved recently and I did not have the radio station problem in my old place, but now I'm on the 4th floor of an apartment building and it freaked me out a little bit. The guitar cable is acting like an antenna and depending on how I stand, the sound gets louder or softer or just becomes static on top of the hum. Knowing what I know now, if I were a more experienced player, I would not have bought this amp. But since I don't play electric a lot, it's only a little bit of a hassle.

first one

By Dave

from Roseville, Michigan

Comments about Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp:

I have to tell ya, when I got home and took this out of the box, I was blown away at how loud this little amp sounds. I had the neighbor lady behind me ask me to turn it down and I only had it on 5/6 on the gain volume and was in the garage. This little guy has amazing sound especially with the blues and metal. Has great distortion as long as you control the volumes, because you can get a lot of feed back. I love it, and it's loud enough to do a small gig. I only bought it for a practice amp. And for the price, it was well worth it. Rocks my basement as well! Lol! Peace
