Working mans amp!

By ruben trevino

Comments about Fender FSR Hot Rod Deluxe 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

First let's be very crystal clear on this: the Guitar Center Fender FSR Surf Green/White Hot Rod Deluxe III is a working man?s amp and it?s so good out of the box: nothing comes close. That said, I've personally played them all people, and this Guitar Center (F)ender (S)pecial (R)eserve in surf green/white is spec per Guitar Center's input. It is not just another production unit with surf green tolex, it has been tricked out to some degree under the hood and hearing it proves it. Wow, it?s totally smooth, and warm unlike the other Hot Rod Deluxe amps in the range including other FSRs. This 40 watt gem is a must have if you can still find one, outstanding tweaks, and fit and finish from Fender. For your next gig, recording etc., insist on the Guitar Center Fender FSR Surf Green/White Hot Rod Deluxe III. Bottom line: SUPERB!

couldn't be happier

Comments about Fender FSR Hot Rod Deluxe 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Several months months ago I was searching for a new amp to purchase. I was bias towards fenders because I love their clean channel sound. I finally narrowed my choice between a Blues Jr. NOS, Blues deluxe reissue and a hot rod deluxe. I really loved them all but felt the blues jr. would work really well with the styles I play ( blues, fusion, rock) and would be great to practice with at home at resonable volume levels. To go along with this amp I also purchased a a boss digital delay and a a boss sd-1 overdrive pedal. This amp is just great and I absolutely love it. One late night I was on the internet checking out amp reviews when I happen to come across this wild linited version of the Hot Rod Deluxe. There is no way I could justify buying it but I just has to have it. I called Guitar Center the next day and they had never seen one or really new what I was talking about. Steve was kind enought to look it up and found that these amps had just arrived at the warehouse in Kansas and that they were available for shipping. I ordered right then was a bit nervous what I had done without ever actually seeing this amp in a picture or in person. Needless to say I am in LOVE. Not only is that amp incredibly cool looking but I "couldnt be happier" with its absolutely breathtaking performance. The clean chaneel with the additon of the presence gives the warmth and fullness not available with the blues jr. The bright switch is just fantastic as it clearly enhances the output. I know there has been some discussion of the drive channels. All I can tell you is that My Blues Jr. NOS sounds great and crunchy but at lower volumes the boss sd-1 would be something I could not live without. I absolutely was surprised what I heard when the first overdrive channel was played through. It is perfect! The control you have over the tone is amazing. Wouldn't change a thing. NOw for the "MORE" overdrive channel. This channel again exceeded my expections. I absolutely love it. I cannot imagine a more versatile amp. NOt only that this thing is so Fricken cool looking I don't want to put the cover on it. The controls are very easy to read and adjust and have a creamy action to their adjustment. I am playing an american Strat, Les Paul, es 335 and a tele and I just can[t get enough of this amp. If I had to have just one amp there is NO question this would be it. Unbelievable power a variety of tones that would please any musician ( except metal ) not designed for that but I cannot say enough about how much I am impressed with this amp. All of my friends who have come over to play are just in awe of it. Thank you Fender and thank you guitar centar. I love my blues jr. nos but I have to say that this HOt Rod is just flat out sick!! ANother thing I forgot to mention was that this amp is certainly easy enough to move around. NOt quite BLues Jr. easy but still very manageable. Aprrox: 50 lbs. If you are considering a new amp I just don't know how you could go wrong with this gem. Fender hit a home run with the improvements on this version with the volume pots. The quality is just so obvious. I have only owned this amp for a few weeks now but I am confident by the feel and the workmanship that this Fender is something special.
