Comments about Fender FSR Baja Telecaster Classic Player Electric Guitar:

I've been wanting a Baja for many years now, finally got this "Vegas Gold" model last year and it quickly became my #1 guitar, pushing out my two American Tele's. I love the soft "V" neck, very fat and chunky. If you like thin necks, don't get this guitar. Even though it has the fat, vintage neck, it has a 9.5 radius and medium jumbo frets.

I'd call myself a "semi-professional" (whatever that means??)... I played on the road for several years and now I'm a weekend warrior, but occasionally still play some big shows or fill in for some of my friends. I would have no problems playing this guitar for 10 people or 10,000 people the way it is. It's an amazing guitar with great electronics.

The only real "Cons" - I did have some fret buzz and had to do a "set up" on it to get rid of the issue...I also replaced the stock saddles, not that it needed it, but I prefer compensated saddles.

Overall, this is a GREAT vintage looking guitar with just the right modern specs.

Comments about Fender FSR Baja Telecaster Classic Player Electric Guitar:

The fit and finish are good and the pickups sound great. I installed a Glendale bridge and compensated saddles because it would not intonate with enough accuarcy to satisfy me. This is a classic problem with vintage saddles so I don't really fault this instrument for that. I probably could have kept the Fender bridge, but what-the-heck. The other common complaint with this guitar is that the pickguard is cheap, flimsy and tends to warp. I replaced that as well. I had a well known and respected lutherie go through the guitar from top to bottom. He said the electronics were decent and even the jack is fine. He remoced excess wiring. He said that for some reason the mexican Fenders always have extra wiring that winds up being an antenna.

My only real dissapointment was that I wanted to remove the guard entirely and leave it off, but it does have the classic wire route under the pickguard, so I had to keep the guard on it.

      serious sparkle

Comments about Fender FSR Baja Telecaster Classic Player Electric Guitar:

Just picked it up yesterday and I have to say Im impressed. I would say its the best Mexican made tele I have had or played. I did have to make some adjustments to the bridge but it was on the floor so who know who was messing with it. I would have also liked to see for 800 bucks it came with some type of hard shell case. Now the pro's. I could not believe the growl and squeels I could get out of this thing, its a rocker with country twang. So many tones with the out of phase and 4 position switch. The tone control knob can really put some highs in the tone I found myself rolling it down about half to 3/4 on and still got nice highs and the volume and tone knobs move freely and smooth. I was about to purchase a US deluxe but for the money I saved I am very happy. The paint job was spot on, I like flashy and its all of that and then some. Great buy.
