I was flabbergasted when I found such a quality guitar for $99.99 and a Fender at that. Personally I have a special place in my heart for Les Puals, and I really was not looking to start on an acoustic. Especially because as a girl I have small hands. And every book, online article, video, & so forth warns girls not to start with acoustic because it's harder and the stings will hurt more. "Well bite me, cause this baby rocks!" Other than having the action set higher and not having a acoustic pre-amp it's perfect for a beginner like me. It has a very friendly neck, even my little hands can handle larger chords. I definitely give this a girl friendly 5 Stars! For high quality, light weight design. With good action and a neck I can wrap my hand around. Regarding the gigbag, I wished they had posted pictures. Don't get me wrong it is very nice, and well made. It has a handle on the side and straps so you can carry it like a back pack. But this baby really needed at least one big pocket. So you could carry you sheet music, picks, or practice book.

Great Starter Guitar

By Krystle

from Dallas, Texas

Received this guitar as a gift after wanting to learn how to play the guitar for ages. I've had this guitar for a year. It's a good guitar, it can take a beating (great for parents, its all laminate), however it's very scratch prone (high gloss finish). Once you take the strings off and add your own strings (I use Martin SP light gauge in Phosphor Bronze or D'addario EJ16 Phosphor Bronze light gauge) the guitar sounds amazing. Now it's not a high end guitar but its great for a starter guitar or a nice knock-around guitar. The only problem that I have is that the neck is a tad bit too thick for my liking, I'm a woman and I have smaller hands so when I play I feeling I'm holding on for my dear life, I prefer a slimmer neck now. It's also important that you get the guitar properly set up because 1) I've been hearing that even though the tone on a Fender acoustic is nice, they are poorly made 2) Guitar Center doesn't check for stuff like that, it's not their fault they don't know what's in the box until the customer opens it. I had a cracked saddle on my guitar when I bought it and didn't realize it until I started playing up the neck during my lessons. I got the saddle replaced at GC for $-. This isn't a guitar that you'll play for ages but its a great starting point.

Good tone bad saddle

By Joseph

from Tamaqua, PA

plays very well out of the box action was okay but please take the time to have the techs in store set it up my action was a bit high and the saddle which is plastic broke in a week. had to replace it was only 12 dollars but a worthwhile upgrade to a tusk saddle. Overall a good guitar for beginners and like me who picks up a guitar after not playing for a few years. i will be passing this on to my girlfriend who is learning from scratch to play.

Broke in 6 months

By Christina Pagan

from New York , NY

Bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday because he wanted to learn how to play. Reviews were great and the guys at the store said it was a great buy. 6 months later the lower part of the guitar where the strings are attached (the bridge?) became detached. He went to the store and they told him that it would cost more to get it fixed than to buy a new one. Bummer, purchase fail!

Great Value for the Money

By Charles Brown

from Minden, LA

Great sounding guitar and it's been built well, one of the best guitars I've owned and the first one I bought with my own money. I like the fact it has Strap pins at the top and on the bottom, most acoustic guitars only have one strap pin at the bottom.

COMPLETE SATISFACTION !

By Elina Waithe

from St. Petersburg , Florida

To begin with I'm a novice in regard to guitars and playing it, but I recently purchase one. Without previous preferences I conclude it is a wise invested generally. Second, I noticed features of a mahogany body with maple veneer, finishing up to the neck , giving me the right impression. Furthermore, upon playing immediately after purchase, a sound check and the light weight test. Then in some time I'll obtain the necessary accessories, practice and learn more about musical instruments !

What a great value!!!

By Ray Montgomery

from Cartersville, GA

After many years of not being on a guitar, I chose this one to get started again. For the price, you cannot beat this value! The tone, the feel, the looks and even the strings that come with the guitar speaks of great value. A beginner or even a person who wants a second acoustic guitar will not be disappointed. You may even choose this one as your first guitar after you see how good it is. I would suggest also for a beginner, don't fail to get the "Play Guitar Today! -- A Complete Guide to the Basics" package. It will greatly enhance your experience. With this Fender and the DVD package, I don't see how you can miss. I am simply blown away by the value this is!

Did not want an import

By Karla Rogers

from Amarillo, Texas

Very pleased with our purchase except that I specifically requested that we wanted to buy a guitar that was not made in China. The sales person told us that all Fenders were made in the US and so we totally trusted what they said and ordered 2 guitars for our grandchildren. When we received our guitars I saw that they are indeed made in China. I was very disappointed but did not have enough time to reorder. The guitars came with high ratings and the quality is great for first time instruments. I do wish however that the sales person had been better educated on the origin of the product. I feel that we should all do our part in supporting products made in the US and be informed as sales people as well as consumers. I will be more diligent in investigating on my own in the next purchase that I make!
