I have had this guitar for over a month. I also own a '79 American made strat. DO NOT let MIM scare you away from this guitar! The neck is silky smooth. Beautiful finish. Perfect intonation out of the box. I read some bad reviews on the tuners. I have played two 4 hour gigs and have had no tuning issues whatsoever and I play blues with very aggressive string bending. The texas specials are noisy compared to other single coils. Put it in position 2 or 4 to alleviate this. It is no knock on the pickups. They are just hotter pickups and sound great. The only issue I have is the same with any Fender. They come with light guage 9's but only 3 tremolo springs. You MUST add a spring to go to 10's. Not a big deal but Fender should put 4 springs on in the factory. I'll pay the extra $3! Otherwise, the best strat I have played, hands down. And I have played many. Buy it while they are still in production!
Beautiful wood choices, good finish, sounds and plays great, from crystalline bell tones to very bright sounds. Mine came in a gigbag with no whammy bar, manual and tools.
I gave this guitar sterling reviews a few months after I bought it. I made my purchase in 8/09, wrote my review 2/10. Two years later? I've made no upgrades and this guitar is still my favorite. In that time, I acquired and sold a Gibson Les Paul, a Gibson SG, a PRS and an American strat... among others. There were things I've liked and disliked about all of them, but I still love everything about the mexican roadhouse strat. This is nicer than all of those guitars.
This is exactly what I was looking for. This guitar screams Texas Blues in every switch position. I was steering away from MIMs, but I am glad I took the plunge. Had to adjust the truss rod a bit on arrival to get out a slight bow in the neck. The intonation had to be tweaked just a bit and then it was time to let it scream. The maple neck is smooth and fast. The finish is flawless. I left the bridge pickup without tone control, but all you need is a jumper if you need it. This is a fun guitar to play and I drag it everywhere.
This guitar have 2 awesome things: the 1-piece neck and texas specials pickups who makes the tone perfect. This neck is the best i have played, and the finish is very comfortable and beautiful. I think this is the best buy for the people want play blues and spend a few money.
I'v had this guitar for about a year and it plays great it has such a good sound.I sometimes switch the sound from texas Blues to Jazz.I would recommend this guitar who play alot of different types of blues guitar.
Shimmering, sparkly, singing highs. Deep, growly, biting lows. Silky mids. Very crisp and very responsive. Amazing tonal versatility with the five way switch. The build quality is superb, it should last for a very long time. High quality parts all around- responsive pots, fantastic pick ups, decent tuners. Play a few in the store, I went through 3 to find one I really liked after comparing it to the American strats. This one sounds better and the playability's about the same. Mine's arctic white. The gig bag isn't anything fancy but it fits snug and it's free.
This is hands down the best guitar I own. Everything from the neck, to the finish, to the tone is just perfect! The Texas Special pickups just weep when you play blues. I also own another mexi strat but the overall quality of this instrument is FAR superior. If you have the extra money get this guitar instead of a standard.
Bought this guitar over the summer. Very happy with it. The clean tones are amazing. The texas specials really give it an edge. The neck was beautiful with a deep maple color. The neck is fast and easy to play. Play rock and blues. Harmonics just fly off this thing. The pickups do throw some noise, but the over all tone makes up for it. Distorted, this guitar holds it own for old school rock. The so-so bridge block does not sustain all that well, but for the money its a great buy.
This guitar is simply awesome. The quality is superb. The Texas Special pickups absolutely sing. The action is great and the "feel" of the neck is just as wonderful. I have owned a few different Strats during my 42 years of playing guitar, but this one is definitely a keeper. I get tones out of it that I hadn't been able to with other Strats. I got the Arctic White finish and it is stunning. The singer in the band says he loves it "when I pick up the White Strat". Thank you Fender and thank you Chuck and Dan at the Bridgeton store for putting up with me on this most recent quest.
