I wanted confidence when using my tremolo bar on my American Strat, so I installed these locking tuners. The locking tuners are not great, the locking nuts on my Ibanez/Floyd Rose systems keep my strings in tune even after some violent tremolo use.
These locking tuners are fine if you want to keep the standard strat nut configuration. But even a half-step down on the tremolo will cause problems.

if you don't have these on your Strat or other Fender that they fit, buy them and put them on. You will never regret it. In fact put locking tuners on every guitar you play.

They are what you are looking for. They replace the standard Fender modern machine heads. Pull out the old ones and put these ones in. It is that easy.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Locking Machine Heads:

I have a Squier Tele Custom and upgraded the stock tuning keys with these. So far, they look great and are a vast improvement. HOWEVER, be warned that if you have a Squier, you will probably have to drill two extra holes in the neck per key to install them properly (12 holes, total--took me about fifteen minutes). Fender didn't make these for dropping into Squiers. Unless you have a headstock that isn't very valuable or you are very good with power drills, be careful.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Locking Machine Heads:

Just installed. Took advice from a former review and made sure I installed the shorter heads on the lower strings. Since they are thinner it puts them lower to the frets. I hope this helps my running problems. I will review again after a few weeks.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Locking Machine Heads:

I?ve replaced the tuners on my two American Standard Stratocasters with these locking machine heads. As a preforming guitarist, I like the faster string changing speed, stability and build quality they offer. Installing them is a breeze and they fit perfectly. However, no instructions are included so I would caution the novice to pay attention to the lengths of the tuning posts before installing. Three machine heads have shorter posts. These are for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd string tuners positions. The machine heads with longer posts should be placed in the reminding 4th, 5th and 6th holes. This keeps the strings angled downward past the nut and thus, minimalizes buzz. Oddly, the video Fender features on its website doesn?t address this point.

              Tune Away Your Tuning Problems

              By Elio

              from Tampa, FL

Comments about Fender Deluxe Locking Machine Heads:

No matter what I did I still had problems keeping my strat in tune when I used the whammy bar. A brand new tusq nut, a Super-Vee Mag-Lok tremelo stabilizer, (don't waste your money folks), and new string trees. Nothing worked. Then I broke down and bought these. My tuning problems disappeared. Now I can whammy away all day and only have to fine tune after having used the tremelo for quite some time. Having tuning problems? Trust me, these babies will fix the problem!

              Do It!

              By Jason Murphy

              from Chicago

Comments about Fender Deluxe Locking Machine Heads:

Just went through a pretty intense Hot-Rodding of my MIM Strat. Threw these tuners on as the icing on the Cake. I've never used locking tuners before, but these are great. They seem to hold the tune very well despite HEAVY use of the whammy bar (I also replaced the bridge and the nut which helps as well). Of all of the upgrades I have done to my strat, this was by far the easiest, you could easily do it during your next string change. One thing nobody else has mentioned: there is a minor problem built into every strat/tele neck. In order to prevent excess vibrations and hold tune there needs to be a sufficient angle between the nut and where the string contacts the tuner (most guitars have a bent back headstock to create this angle). This problem doesn't typically cause issues for strings 4-6 because of how close they are to the nut. Because the angle between the 1st and 2nd strings is very small on fenders, they have installed a small widget to pull the strings down and make the angle bigger. That leaves string number 3 causing unwanted buzz every time you play it open killing your sound and sustain. (Grab your fender and play an open G if you don't believe me). These tuners sit shorter on the headstock, which effectively eliminates this problem.
