Guitarist Dave Murray of seminal U.K. metal heroes Iron Maiden has been laying it down with a Fender since the mid '70s. Murray recently joined forces with Fender to create a signature electric guitar based on his own '57 Stratocaster, previously owned by the late, guitarist Paul Kossoff from the band Free.

The Dave Murray Stratocaster guitar boasts a supercharged humbucker/single-coil/humbucker configuration-a DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary DP103 neck pickup, a DiMarzio Super Distortion DP100 bridge pickup, and a Fender vintage-style middle pickup. The Fender Dave Murray Guitar includes a lacquer finish, and a flatter, soft V-shaped neck with satin back. Includes case.

What can i say about this guitar? Absolutely flawless. I also play a Les Paul Custom through Marshall tubes. It isn't truly possible to compare a Les Paul to a Fender Strat (or vice-versa). Both are absolutely at the top of their respective classes. Both are capable of creating sounds that the other can't quite match. As for this beauty, I am in love! While it has a non-traditional strat H-S-H configuration, the neck pickup is extremely warm for all things bluesy/clean. The versatility of this guitar is amazing! The bridge pickup which is a DP100 absolutely rocks the house for rock/metal. The middle vintage fender single coil really doesn't do much for me. The output is about half of the neck or bridge pickup and is tough to switch without involving volume pedals, etc. It is a custom shop guitar and bears a custom shop price. The best part is that it also has the custom shop sound. From Blues to Metal, I am so happy with this guitar that i hate to admit that the Les Paul has been collecting dust, i just cannot get enough of my new strat!
