Stop your search with this guitar package from Fender; an absolute great deal and simply the best value when compared to the rest. This is the first guitar I ever purchased, let alone played, and honestly, it is the perfect guitar. The quality of the sound and overall construction are both superb. The tuner which is included is excellent (a must have since you will want to tune it before each time you play/practice). I would suggest that you buy a new strap (I did not care for the one given), get some polish for the body of the guitar, and lemon oil for the neck). If you are also a beginner, I would recommend buying an instructional DVD (I did not like the one included). You will not be disappointed with this guitar.

The guitar sounds fine, but if you ever try to change the strings it will break. At first I thought it was my fault when I was pulling out the bridge string pin and it broke but then I had my brother's friend who has played for years take out the next one as a test and it still broke. The pegs are so weak if you ever tried to change the strings they will break and then half of it will be stuck in the guitar. As nice as it is getting a guitar for that value that sounds good, if it breaks so easily I'm not sure it's worth it. It is for the buyer to decide.

I am honestly impressed...

By Chris R. Carlson

from S.E. MN

When it comes to instrument construction, I know very little. I do however, understand good sound. This particular guitar sounds incredible, which surprised me due to the price of the starter pack. It is a sound product, so far, and I can't wait to learn more about the sounds this instrument can make. Enjoy!

Don't let the low price fool you

By Christopher Lee

from Vine Grove, KY

I played on a a few different Fender DG-8S guitars that people bought for their spouses or kids who wanted to play. I figured they'd need to be set up, but all the ones I played were set up great right out of the box. And they sound amazing. So good in fact, I asked for one for Christmas and my wife delivered. Don't let the cheap price fool you. This is an excellent guitar, especially for the price. Fit and finish is top notch, definitely not what I would have expected from a Fender starter pack or a Fender acoustic in general. The tuners are of the sealed Grover style, and the thing stays in tune wonderfully, even when banging out blues riffs and bends the way I do. The solid spruce top gives this thing a really full and rich sound, and you won't find a guitar that comes close to it in the price range. If you are looking for a great acoustic on the cheap, stay out of pawn shops or the second hand racks at your music shop and buy one of these instead. You won't be sorry. I can't say enough good things about this gem!

Awesome guitar with great sounds

By Jason Kim

from Mukilteo, WA

I just bought this guitar as my first guitar, and I completely love it! I love the contents of the package, except for that they gave me a electric tuner which is not Fender's. But the quality of guitar is awesome compare to other guitars I recommend this guitar.

Great guitar

By Mike Gaeth

from South Florida

I bought this guitar about 4 days ago as my first acoustic (been playing for about a year now). I have been playing electric exclusively (Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro) and I have had a ton of fun playing this thing the past couple of days. It needed about 15 minutes of fine tuning out of the box in order to get it to sound good, but once it was in tune, it played like a champ and the sound and tone was rich and full. The action is a bit high and the stock strings are a bit tough, but it is helping my fingertips keep those needed callouses going. There is a bit of fret buzz on a couple strings, but I think a professional setup and tuning will take care of that in a couple of months. While at Guitar Center, I tried out probably 10 - 15 acoustics to find "that one" that felt good and wouldn't kill my wallet. I found that this guitar held up to some of the $500 - $600 guitars I tried out (Martin, Ibenez, Taylor, etc.). I am very happy that I went with this guitar and see it getting plenty of use in the future.

Amazing Guitar

By Deborah Wisneski

from NJ

This guitar is great for any style of music. I have no complaints. It also stays in tune for a long time. No matter what strings I put on it, it still sounds great. The accessories that came with it are good for a beginner, but the guitar can be for any level of play.

Good to start off with

By Shaheed Shabazz

from NY, NY

The DG8S is a good guitar to start off with. It has a solid spruce top and unlike some other guitars in this price range, it actually sounds like a guitar when you strum it. It stays in tune and feels good. If your budget is small but you want a good guitar. This is what you get.

Dont be fooled by these high reviews

By Hank

from Melbourne, Fl

First off , I am new to guitar. I was going to buy an old Alverez, but read all these great reviews on the Fender DG8, its sound can't compared to the Alverez. Yes, the Fender has a wood face, the guitar at best is for a beginner. It looks good nice wood feel. However, how experienced guitar players could write and say that this is there go to guitar is beyond me. For me the guitar sounds a bit tinny, and echo's, maybe that is my inexperience playing it. The other items in the package are cheap. The gig bag is thin, the electronic tuner is Ok but there are so many better out there for not that much money. The strap, well you might as well get rid of it now, before you ruin your guitar from a fall. I would recommend that the buyer beware and spend the extra money right away and go for the guitar with the best sound that you can afford. Like the salesperson told me a good guitar will always keep its value and will get better with age. I hope that the Fender will start to sound better as I get better as a player.

GREAT!!! GREAT GUITAR!!

By Guit4rHunt3r

from monroe NC

got this guitar not too long ago from a friend. its def better than my old guitar (epiphone DR100) and let me tell you, this guitar is AMAZING!! i wouldnt take a martin or a taylor over this thing (even tho i do want one lol) but when i got it, it needed a little work. the action was wayy too high. but a few turns on the truss rod fixed that. then i put some elixr's on it and the tone came out!! my friend plays a 800 dollar ibanez and is jealous of this guitar. but i did notice the sound was a tad muddy, but its hardly noticeable. if your thinking of getting this guitar, dont think. GET IT NOW!!!! im getting a duncan woody to put in it so i can play some gigs with it. hope this helped your decision!!! keep on rockin
