Stop your search with this guitar package from Fender; an absolute great deal and simply the best value when compared to the rest. This is the first guitar I ever purchased, let alone played, and honestly, it is the perfect guitar. The quality of the sound and overall construction are both superb. The tuner which is included is excellent (a must have since you will want to tune it before each time you play/practice). I would suggest that you buy a new strap (I did not care for the one given), get some polish for the body of the guitar, and lemon oil for the neck). If you are also a beginner, I would recommend buying an instructional DVD (I did not like the one included). You will not be disappointed with this guitar.

The guitar sounds fine, but if you ever try to change the strings it will break. At first I thought it was my fault when I was pulling out the bridge string pin and it broke but then I had my brother's friend who has played for years take out the next one as a test and it still broke. The pegs are so weak if you ever tried to change the strings they will break and then half of it will be stuck in the guitar. As nice as it is getting a guitar for that value that sounds good, if it breaks so easily I'm not sure it's worth it. It is for the buyer to decide.

A Good Guitar

By Jacob

from New Haven, CT

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This guitar is good for the beginning player. It has good, loud sound, and i have not noticed any major frett buzz. The action is perfect, and in my opinion you don't need to change the stock strings right after purchase. I tried mulitple acoutics including epiphones, and this was the best out of all of them. The cons of this guitar are that the tuning heads are pretty bad, and I need to tune it every 20 minutes or so. Overall, this guitar is perfect for a beginner, or just a player on a budget.

The guitar is the reason....

By Viper122

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I bought this as a cheap travel guitar I wouldn't have hearbreak over if it's damaged. I also own a Takamine GS330S and a little Hagstrom 0-78S. I haven't looked at the accessories cause I'm really not too concerned with them; I bought this for the guitar. I was in GTC looking for something cheap to take on a trip in my full-size hardcase (my Hagstrom only has a gig bag, and I must travel with laptop. That one is for car trips!). I went in to look at the Epiphone 150 ($99) and the Yamaha (? model; $149). Guitar rep there "sold" me on this guitar. Main sellers: Solid top, good tuners, and good feedback from previous customers. I can say, the sound is great, even off the factory strings. The action is great. If I would have played this when I was purchasing my first guitar (the Takamine), I probably would have went with this just to save money. I did play a Fender acoustic, but the Takamine's sound was far and away better than any of the $500-ish acoustics (Fender, Martin, Yamaha, etc). For a first guitar or a traveler you can replace if it's damaged, or justa second guitar, this is a great deal. I would buy another if it was damaged. Very pleased.

Just replace the strings and your'e set!

By Roy

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

All you need to do on this baby is get new strings, and you can start jamming right away. Perfect for the person looking into guitar and has a good deal of commitment laid out for it. It's good to start on an acoustic guitar because electric guitar is alot easier than acoustic. Perfect gift.. for yourself, even. Check it out!

Highly recommended!

By Lindy

from South Paris, Maine

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

Always wanted to learn to play guitar and Fender has made it possible! Guitar has great tone, even my experienced guitar friends were amazed at it's sound, equal to theirs at several hundred dollars less. With comments like "Wow!" and "Now that's a nice sounding guitar!" made me feel confident about my purchase. The tuner is fine, does it's job quickly. The case leaves alot to be desired, good if you never take it anywhere except from room to room. A nicer padded case was one upgrade I made and would recommend, but hey for the price of the package, the guitar is worth it alone. The extra strings, picks, DVD, tuner, and strap are just icing on the cake. The 60L strings have great sound and easy on the fingers. A great sounding guitar makes practice & playing a pleasure, I'm very pleased with my purchase and sure you would be too!

Great guitar, great pack

By Mike_L

from Cleveland, OH

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

The Fender DG-8 acoustic pack is one of the best deals out there. the extras are certainly nice, but I want to talk about the guitar. A guitar in this price range with a solid spruce top? Wow! It stands out from everything else priced near it because it doesn't sound like it's made out of a piece of plastic. Comes with good strings, and the tuners are actually not bad. If you're looking for a guitar just to have around, you won't find much better than this.

Great product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By Alternative Grunge Artist #13

from Princeton, IL

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This guitar was my first acoustic, and I must say that it blew me away at first! It has a finish that shows off the beautiful woods, the extremely smooth tuners never become de-tuned, and has sounds that I've only heard on higher priced Martins, Tayors, and Gibsons! If you are on a budget, or looking for another acoustic just to fart around with, this is the guitar for you. But you may have to get another strap because the one that comes with it is really short. I recomend getting a Ernie Ball guitar strap for taller players.

Greater Starter

By Shelly

from Fairview Heights, IL

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I bought this guitar one year ago today and waited an entire year to write my review on it. I wanted a cheap guitar to learn on and this guitar was absolutely perfect! It has great sound, great action, and has never had any issues staying in tune and I'm still playing on the strings that were originally strung on it. I learned everything I ever needed to know with it and have since moved up to a more expensive acoustic-electric but still find myself picking it up occasionally because it has a distinctive sound and is very easy to play. I fully recommend it to any beginner out there and have recommended it to two beginners who now own it and love it too!

Quality tone and finish

By JAson

from St. Louis, MO

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I was skeptical about buying a "Value Pack" guitar, but after sitting and playing this guitar, I was pleasantly surprised. While it is made in China, dont let that scare you off. The fit and finish on my instrument is top-notch. The finish was flawless and there are no signs of a rushed or careless assembly, like scratches, nicks, or globs of dried glue anywhere on the guitar. The factory strings were surprisingly comfortable and the action is perfect! Not enough can be said about the full, round tone either, it may be due to the quality bridge and the solid top, but it does sound like a much more expensive guitar than it is. The "extras" it came with are OK. The spare "Fender" strings are nice freebies, and so is the gig bag (though it is NOT a replacement for a good hard case) and the included tuner is decent. The strap is functional but nothing special. I havent watched the instructional DVD yet. Its a great looking and sounding guitar and I have to admit, having "Fender" on the headstock without the word "Squier" anywhere near it is nice too! This is probably the best value for the price in acoustic guitars.

GREAT!!! GREAT GUITAR!!

By Guit4rHunt3r

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

got this guitar not too long ago from a friend. its def better than my old guitar (epiphone DR100) and let me tell you, this guitar is AMAZING!! i wouldnt take a martin or a taylor over this thing (even tho i do want one lol) but when i got it, it needed a little work. the action was wayy too high. but a few turns on the truss rod fixed that. then i put some elixr's on it and the tone came out!! my friend plays a 800 dollar ibanez and is jealous of this guitar. but i did notice the sound was a tad muddy, but its hardly noticeable. if your thinking of getting this guitar, dont think. GET IT NOW!!!! im getting a duncan woody to put in it so i can play some gigs with it. hope this helped your decision!!! keep on rockin

Great Guitar......

By Stephen King

from Lebanon, Ohio

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

The Good; Solid (two piece) spruce top, excellent finish, narrower neck than most beginner guitars, easy to play, GREAT TONE, comes with gig bag (not the best but hey its something), kit comes with a much nicer winder than the Dunlop brand, and the tuner is now our go-to tuner. The Cons; NONE!! I recently aquired this guitar pack from a friend who decided he didn't have time to learn. It has been at my place for 2 months now and has not been tuned since I got it home. It simply stays in tune. It is played daily. Fender factory strings are actually not all that bad, but I still changed them for some Phosphor Bronzes (Light). This guitar sings. For a cheap guitar I was not expecting much, but it is now my go-to guitar. I would see no problem with someone gigging this at a small venue. I would rate this as more than just a beginner/intermediate guitar but not quite professional. If you want a good solid guitar you cant go wrong with this one, regardless how new/old to playing you are.

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This is a really great guitar, especially for beginners. The Fender pack comes with everything you need and more than other packages come with. I've been playing guitar for about 5 years and this is about the best guitar I've seen for such an affording price. You can be playing in seconds with this pack and it's a very good guitar for the price!

Great for a Starter

By Quiana Godek

from NY, NY

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

My husband wanted to learn to play the guitar, so I was looking to purchase a guitar for him for Christmas. I researched like crazy, considering a more expensive used guitar, a Seagull or Taylor. I went into the Guitar Center on 14th Street and spoke to the guy in the acoustic section and he completely listened to all my novice ideas and questions, he was so respectful and didn't make me feel ridiculous for not knowing anything about guitars. Bottom line, he said that there wasn't much difference in getting a $200 starter guitar vs. a fancier used guitar that would have originally cost $400-$500. Also, this package was very much worth it because it come with all the initial accessories that you need. I would have had to buy all that stuff in addition to the guitar if I went with a used one. My husband loves the cache of having a Fender and he has been playing it since he got it. I'm very happy with my purchase and the entire experience.

I'm Impressed!

By Sean

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I went into guitar center one day with a buddy of mine to go check out some bass guitars since we are primarily bassists. I've been a bassist and a musician overall for about 9 years now. For years now I've been wanting to experiment and learn guitar and I've always thought that a great way to start was by buying and learning an acoustic guitar. As I enter the acoustic section I run into The Fender DG-8S acoustic. I tried it out and I really loved the sound quality and the feel of it.(This was after I had tried a few other more expensive acoustics.) I went to check the price thinking it was going to be expensive due to the great sound quality. I was shocked to see that it was only $199.99! and not only that, I was shocked to read that it was a value pack bringing everything. All these great things and great guitar for only $200?! I had to come the next day and buy it. I am very pleased with it! I play it everyday and it has stayed in tune ever since. All the accessories that come with it are great and useful! I seriously and strongly recommend this guitar not only for beginners but even for any level of guitarist.

Good Deal

By NavArch

from Bristow, VA

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

Just now taking up the guitar at age 55. The instrument's solid top (v. laminate) provides a very rich resonance for chords and single notes when I play them well (new stretches for the left hand). Smooth, dependable tuners. After some additional research on strings, I replaced the originals with a set of D'Addario EXP 10's, which are lighter and a bit easier on the fingers. The only downsides that I found with the pack were (1) the fretboard is just a tad too narrow for easy fingerstyle work, and (2) there is no non-goofy way to attach the strap to the left side of the guitar or to the neck. A trip to a local Guitar Center located a Martin leather strap button thingy that goes between the nut and the tuners. A very good starter. Lots of fun so far. I'll worry about replacing it when my skill level beats its performance level.

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I got this guitar last year. I have learned everything i know on it. I really love this guitar. The case that comes with it was horrible though. It broke a month after i got. I had to tear it apart to get to my guitar. But overall this guitar is perfect for someone to learn on it. My friend who's been playing guitar for 3 years said that this guitar was much better than his Yamaha acoustic guitar. This definetly lives up to the Fender name. If you want to learn guitar you should get this guitar.

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This is a Great Guitar by itself, without the extra's. The "Getting Started" DVD sampler is awsome for beginners, and the entire DVD featuring Keith Wyatt is a must buy.I own Gibson's and Martin's and this Guitar stands right up there in sound quality with them. I recommend this package to anyone. My Gibson and Martin are gathering dust, i can't put this one down.
