Just picked up a Squire Tele to get that Tele sound without breaking the bank however the pickups were terrible. I decided to put these pups in and WOW what a difference. This guitar sounds and plays as good as some of my expensive axes now. Buy them you won't be disappointed!

      A Worthy Upgrade!

Comments about Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Tele Pickups:

Got hold of some extra money, so I bought a Fender Standard Telecaster (MIM). The build quality was surprisingly good, so I played it for awhile stock. I hated the stock pickups no matter how much I tried to dial in decent tone. As a result, I bought Fender's Custom Shop Texas Special Tele set and installed them in my Standard Tele and voila! It is now a true Tele. The tone is so much better. In fact, it sounds similar to my Fender American Deluxe Telecaster. I get clear Tele neck tone and the bridge is nice and twangy. The ceramic stock pickups definitely don't measure up to the Texas Specials. Get these pickups because they rock!

      Amazing tone!

      By John Reagan

      from Nashville, TN

Comments about Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Tele Pickups:

I really shopped around for the 'right' Tele pickup set and these are it-they'll do about anything if you push them hard enough. Especially suited for blues, rock, and country. Great tone and made in the USA! I did not do the 4-way switch mod yet but I plan to. These pups made my Tele really sing and I don't think I could be happier. I would not hesitate to put these in other Tele's I buy or build. I play through tube amps with digi and analog effects and am very pleased with the tones I'm finding using these pups. Very balanced tone top to bottom, dead quiet if all your grounds and wiring are spot-on. You WILL like these in your T-style guitar.

      Texas Specials

      By William Ostrander

Comments about Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Tele Pickups:

I love these pups. I've installed them in at least three axes of mine. I run them through a Line6 PODXT Live and a Roland keyboard amp with a 15" speaker and a tweeter. If you spend some time setting the height, these pups really come alive. I usually have a middle strat pickup with them which gives me some strat "quack" along with the tele sounds. If you want just the tele sounds, make sure you get the four position switch as well! I NEVER run my tone control on the guitar at full. ALWAYS roll off to about 60%ish. Then crank the volume. You will fall in LOVE with these things. Clear bottom and bell-like highs. The only set of pups I like better are the EMG-T, but they are active. As far as I'm concerned, you can't get better than these for passive pups.

      NOT a One-Trick Pony!

      By Russell Smith

      from Denver, CO

Comments about Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Tele Pickups:

I installed these pickups in a Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster I thoroughly upgraded with new electronics, a half tele bridge, bone nut and tuners. After reading the reviews on-line, I wasn't quite sure what to expect but took a chance. I play chicken-pickin' tele, bebop and old-school blues. These pickups cover it all and do so authentically. They truly respond to your playing AND your amp/pedal setup. I play through a number of boutique and modded pedals into a Vox AC-15C1 and found these pickups are just as authentic and wonderful whether dirty, clean or anything in-between. The one area I have to concur thoroughly on with other reviewers is do yourself - and your tone - a favor and wire these pickups with a 4 way switching mod for series or parallel with both pickups on. Although I don't play rock, I couldn't help but wonder if a lot of the Jimmy Page things attributed to a Les Paul aren't actually his top-load Tele with it's pickups wired in series. Yes, it's that fat. I recorded it and A/B'ed it against my Les Paul with friends who had to listen repeatedly to tell which was which. I have Seymour Duncan vintage stack Tele pickups in my other Tele because I can't stand hum, but wanted something different for this guitar. After a couple of weeks, I have to say I got something different AND something very familiar: You can cover a LOT of ground with them. The bridge is beautiful clean, growls like a bear with natural amp distortion, has twang for days and best of all, is VERY agreeable with distortion pedals. The neck pickup is sweet and bell-like when clean, gives authentic Charlie Christian jazz tone and will even do a nice faux woman-tone when dirty. These are wonderful pickups and having heard them, I'd have been happy if I'd paid twice the Guitar Center cost. That said, think twice before going the "boutique pickup" route. I've been down that road and been disappointed. Fender is a great company that just keeps getting better and better. These pickups prove it.

      Great upgrade

      By John K Jones

      from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Tele Pickups:

In November I bought a Squire Affinity Tele at GC. As this would be my third guitar, I wanted to add a tele to my "collection." I was really surprised by the how nice the tele felt, but the stock pickups had no "output." I looked around at all the different pick ups that I could put in. I decided that I wanted to upgrade my Squire, so I went with the Texas Specials. I added a 4 way switch and this works well with the pickups as the neck pick up has a extra ground wire that allows for setting them up for Bridge, Bridge & Neck (serial), Bridge & Neck (parallel) and Neck. I am very happy with these pick ups as they have a lot of power. The pick ups cost me almost the same amount as the guitar. If you are looking to upgrade and want to stay in the Fender line, give these a try.

      Fantastic Sound

      By ANTHONY CLARK

Comments about Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Tele Pickups:

If you are looking for a great set of pickups, buy this set. I put these in my Squier Tele and I have NO regrets. This is the best set of pickups and they sound great. I also installed a 4 way switch and changed the capasitor. Best bang for the buck.

      Excellent Upper End Pickup

      By TJ Nugent

      from Knoxville, TN

Comments about Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Tele Pickups:

I love the tone of the over wound Texas Special pickups. Previously, I had been putting Duncan Antiquity pickups in my guitars, but needed to get finish this guitar, so I decided to try the Texas Special to see if this less expensive pickup would sounds as good. I was pleasantly surprised when I plugged into my Vox amp and heard the sweet overwound sound of these pickups. They are perfect for a 60's Strat. My hat is off to Fender Custom Shop.

      Made a classic even better!

      By Vince Lombino

      from Redondo Beach, CA

Comments about Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Tele Pickups:

My '68 Tele's pickups, switch & wiring finally wore out after 42 years, so my guitar tech recommended these pickups quite highly. After the guitar was "overhauled," it sounded absolutely amazing. They pull tons of tone out of the 42 year-old ash body with plenty of twang & sustain. TIP: get the 4-position selector switch if you install these in your Tele for added versatility.
