Comments about Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special Electric Guitar:

I am a hobbyist. Mostly I play in my home, sometimes with friends when I can catch up with them. I own and play ten guitars. This is one of my favorites. I bought it used in mint condition from Guitar Center about six months ago. I bought it to play surf music and relive my youth playing experiences. It is extremely easy to play, sounds great, and plays surf music very well. I wish I had one of these when I was a kid. It also plays blues, country, and classic rock to my satisfaction. I like to play rhythm more than leads, I was afraid this would be a one trick pony. I like to play rhythm on it also.

Quality Problems or Design Flaws

By Frank

from Houston, TX

Comments about Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special Electric Guitar:

I had to order this guitar as no shops in my area carried them in stock. Guitar looks great, sounds great, but I am on the second one and thinking about returning it. First one I received sounded and played great, then developed a rattle when played. Turns out the truss rod came loose and rattled in the neck. I returned it. Ordered a replacement. Looked good, sounds good, but the bridge screws rattle like crazy. Also, doesn't seem to play as well. Going on line the rattling appears to be a common problem with the "Adjusto Matic bridge". Many fixes suggested on line ranging from higher gage strings (comes with 10's), "Loc Tite" on screws, replacing bridge with after market, shimming the neck etc. My internal debate is whether to deal with a "fix" on a new $800.00 guitar, or return and get something else.

Classic Player Jaguar is a true Classic

By Mike Mongelli

from Boise, Idaho

Comments about Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special Electric Guitar:

Iv'e been playing about 50 years (too old to Rock and Roll too young to die) I bought my first Fender Strat in 1965 and when I was looking at Jaguars after reading reviews and specs I decided that the Classic Player was the best buy in a Jaguar. Iv'e owned lots of Fenders and when it arrived I was blown away by the fit and finish of this one. The sunburst was the best I've seen on any American Fender to date. This guitar has very unique tonal capabilities. The lead settings bite hard and Rhythm settings chunk along sweet and smooth. Fender Mexico has proven they can build a very solid instrument. To be honest, the early MIM Stratocasters and Teli's left alot to be desired. The Jaguar Classic Player MIM guitars display a quality of construction I never thought possible compared to anything at this price point. I considered an American built Jaguar, but buy comparison The Classic player shines. I wasn't driven by price, at my age I can well afford any guitar I want. The 9 1/2 neck radius is the same as my custom Strat and the pick ups are red hot. This is not a guitar for everyone. Short scale and Fenders modifications have vastly improved the sixties original Jaguars. To add a touch of nostalga Fender has left a little rattle in the bridge but compared to the sixties production this guitar more than not represents the great guitar Leo Fender was shooting for in his last true design. Plunk down your money and enjoy it. from surf to grunge to metal this guitar can hold it's own with any Fender guitar. It looks sexy, has that vintage Fender guitar classic sound and plays like a dream.

The definition of cool

By Steve Cartwright

from San Jose, CA

Comments about Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special Electric Guitar:

Playing "Brown Sugar" just doesn't feel right without a Tele. "Little Wing" on something other than a Strat? Forget about it! And if your song selection includes Pipeline, Walk Don't Run, Surf Rider, Perfidia, or anything by The Beach Boys, you gotta have one of these! Don't let MIM worry you... I cant discern any difference in quality compared to my 52 Reissue Tele or my American Deluxe Start. Pair this baby up with a vintage looking tube amp and a reverb pedal and you'll swear your in Southern California in the 60's!

Great Guitar

By Art Rice

from Largo, FL

Comments about Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special Electric Guitar:

Bought this is September'10. Unlike some other reviews, mine was set up perfect, flawless finish. This does stay in tune if you lock the trem. otherwise, it does need occasional adjusting. Great action. All in all, this is a great guitar. Is is as good as the '62? No, but for the price, you won't find any better.

Amazing

By Will

from Lindenhurst, NY

Comments about Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special Electric Guitar:

i've had this guitar since may 2010 when it replaced my epiphone les paul standard. i've played it practically every single day, and have fallen helplessly in love with this instrument. this guitar has already seen more action than my old one, which i had for 3 years. i've recorded an EP with this guitar, and although i have yet to be on stage with it, i wouldn't think of holding any other instrument. the looks are too kill for. it is just a sexy thing to behold. it sounded amazing, right out of the box. the strings weren't too bad, and i had them on for a few weeks before i changed them. the pickups were a little sharp sounding at first, but mellowed since, and now sound gorgeous. the tuners are great, vintage looking, and rarely lose tune. it also feels great in hand. smooth neck and lightweight too. i mainly play indie pop and alternative stuff on it, but i always venture outside of that. i can't resist playing breakdowns every time i play, and although it wasn't meant for it, it can hold its own on (respectively) metal stuff. i would've never PLAY metal with it, but i do. seriously though, it's a wonderful guitar all around. definitley worth every single penny.

Great Guitar!

By OffsetBodyFan

from HB, CA

Comments about Fender Classic Player Jaguar Special Electric Guitar:

Beautiful guitar and surprising quality craftsmanship for an MIM of its price. Sounds great too. However, if you are undecided about getting a Jazzmaster or Jaguar, I would recommend the Jazzmaster. I have both Classic Player guitars and the Jazzmaster was near perfect out of the box. I'm still fine tuning the Jaguar for perfect intonation. I would still highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a Jaguar. A true Fender!
