Surfs up!

Comments about Fender Classic '60s Jazzmaster Lacquer Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar new from the Northridge Guitar Center. I play Surf, Rockabilly, Alternative and Rock N Roll. The feel: Feels great, I really love the neck. It's not too thick not too thin, just perfect. The Tone: Surf all the way, the American Vintage P90 Jazz Master pickups sound all though balanced they are a touch higher in tone which fits well with this style of guitar. It sounds great with Flatwound strings on it as well. Not only surf tones but it sounds great overdriven as well. The bridge sounds pretty twangy, the middle position adds that almost out of phase sound. The middle position you have a nice balance of low and high, but not so much mid, if that makes sense. Almost as if you turn the mid down. This guitar is great for layering when you are recording. It's the perfect guitar to add accents similar to the Alternative bands of the 80's and 90's used Jazzmasters for. I owned the Classic Player Jazzmaster and never grew attached to it, honestly this feels more high end and sounds completely different, I am guessing because of the American Vintage Jazzmaster Pickups. It looks way cool in the SeaFoam Green, feels great to play just a top notch guitar! I love mine.

Wowee!

By STEVEN

Comments about Fender Classic '60s Jazzmaster Lacquer Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

This is my new favorite guitar! The finish is flawless (the photos don't due it justice because the green looks washed out... it's actually a deeper surf green color) The white pick guard with the aged pickup covers and knobs looks amazing. I haven't had any of the bridge problems that often plague Jazzmasters -- even though this has the old original 60's bridge and tremolo. And the sound is perfect for surf music... slightly more grit than a strat or a Jaguar -- but not as dirty as a humbucker. I did need to oil the fretboard (pretty common for Mexican guitars) -- but the setup was spot on. And the pop-in them arm is a nice change from the screw-in strat arms.

Comments about Fender Classic '60s Jazzmaster Lacquer Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar brand new earlier this year. I've played Jazzmasters for most of my playing career, and I think this lil guy is the end-all-be-all for me. Since purchasing it, I've sold more guitars than I'd like to admit, and frankly, I don't miss them. This is about as Jazzmaster as a Jazzmaster can be. The only weird thing is that the tremolo doesn't have a lock on it, but oh well! I don't miss it that much. Of course, this guitar is plagued with the typical Fender offset bridge issue, but I was able to fix this with a spare Mastery bridge I had lying around. (Trust me, those bridges are worth it.) It will need some minor set up out of the box, but what new guitar doesn't? Something interesting about this guitar is that it comes from the factory with 1MEG pots, which is absolutely insane. This is the reason that many folks say that "the pickups are way too bright!" Thankfully, it's a lot easier (and cheaper) to drop in some 250K CTS pots than it is to buy new pickups. Speaking of pickups, these AVRI '65 pickups are by far my favorite Jazzmaster pickups for cleans, and I've tried many, including SD Antiquity i's & ii's. I record and play many shows with this guitar. The tone of this instrument through my Princeton Reverb is the most inspiring thing I've ever come across. I hardly even find myself using effect pedals any more, as I just plug straight in to the amp. Excellent, excellent instrument. And it comes with a super nice case, too!

Comments about Fender Classic '60s Jazzmaster Lacquer Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

I use the guitar for personal enjoyment & occasional gigs with various blues & vintage rock groups. I am 73 years old & have played in some wonderful Louisiana large bands with keyboard, horns, etc,. In my opinion, there is nothing better than this guitar run through a Fender Twin as it will cut through anything. Further it's made in Mexico & that's a good thing as it puts the guitar at a great price point . Oh yea, when I look inside my "American made" Amps they are signed by Hispanics! My friends 1953 Bassman was built by a Hispanic. So, you can draw whatever conclusion you want. But, I know & can say that this is wonderful instrument with its so called faulty Bridge & non locking Tremelo arm. But, I love it's authentic build because that's the way Leo Fender designed the thing & he has stated on occasion that the Jazzmaster was his favorite design!

Comments about Fender Classic '60s Jazzmaster Lacquer Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

Out of the box the 60's Fender Jazzmaster was outstanding. I already have a MIM Telecaster and Stratocaster with polyurethane finishes, but my lacquer coated Jazzmaster seems to have a smooth sound and playability that the other guitars cannot match. My guitar was on backorder from GC for about 5 weeks... This was the first guitar that I had purchased online and it played perfectly after some normal tuning. I had no trouble with the overall setup or tremolo and bridge that some of the other reviewers experienced. The only con I can think of is that the tremolo arm will occasionally drop down when I'm playing, but for me it is not a big deal. The case is outstanding and has a lock. When I saw the guitar for the first time it surpassed my expectations as far as beauty, fit and finish. I also noticed that the guitar has a completely different smell since it is finished in lacquer which is pretty cool. I love the color combination of the woodgrain neck and the surf-green body, along with the aged knobs. The guitar's ability to switch to rhythm and lead gives you a lot of flexibility according to your needs. If you play in a church praise band it can generate smooth/soft tones that are perfect for worship services.

Comments about Fender Classic '60s Jazzmaster Lacquer Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

This guitar is gorgeous!! The second i took it out of it's case i was blown away by its beauty. It also sounds as good as it looks. I'm playing this through a vox ac15 and i am getting gorgeous clean tones out of it. The neck feels great and is the perfect thickness for me and allows very easy playability. Highly recommended
