I have been playing guitar for 20 years. I have owned four acoustic guitars over those years - Larrivee, Martin, Gibson, and Breedlove. Currently I own the Larrivee and this guitar. I bought this guitar for a couple of reasons: first, I wanted a "fun" guitar to haul around, one that I didn't mind taking out in all conditions. Second, it looks cool. What I didn't count on was that it sounds much better than I thought it would. Also, it has the most comfortable neck of any acoustic guitar I've ever owned. I run into wrist fatigue with my other guitars, but I can play this one for hours and hours and hours without any problem at all. This guitar is my "go to" guitar now - the one I play on the couch, the one I record with, the one I take over to friends' houses.

My friend has guitar, and i've played it many times. The sound is muffled, and you can't really get a lot of different tones out of it. My friend has had it for about a year and a half, and already the pickguard is coming off. For a few dollars more, get the Epiphone EJ-200

I never write reviews...but wow!

By Daniel Pasco

from Baltimore, Md

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE California Custom Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Let me just start off by saying that I only write reviews when I'm mad. This guitar is so amazing that I had to write something for the person who might be on the fence about this one. If this is your price range, get it! The sound is LOUD that comes out of this thing! I play with my fingers, so it's never as loud as with a pick. I have to actually play softer so it's not louder then my singing! BIG plus in my book! Everything sounds very crisp! Perfect bass, good mid range, treble is a tiny bit low. Not enough to bring down my rating though, and it might be perfect for other people. I like my treble up a tiny bit! The tuner on this thing is awesome and makes tuning a breeze. The action was a little bit low when I picked it up in the store, so they put a shim under the bridge and it was perfect as easy as that! Took them about 5 minutes to do while I looked for a strap. The strings that come on it sound good. I also like the shape and feel of the tuning keys. It also stays in tune REALLY good. I played this thing hard and after about 5 or 6 songs it was still in tune. The fingering is like butter on this neck! I haven't plugged it in yet so I can't report on that. The only problem I have that really made me sad was when I looked inside on the sticker it said "Made In China". This may be a problem for some people, so I wanted to make sure that you know you will walk around with that stamped on this baby forever :( Other then that, it really truly is an awesome guitar. Just wish Fender would make them in America!

Wow, Just Wow

By Sebastian Magann

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE California Custom Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have to say, this is probably one of the best quality acoustic guitars for the price. I have played Martin and Talyor guitars and they are a bit better, but are definitely not worth their price. I love this acoustic guitar with an amp it even get off some decent distortion. I use this acoustic more than any of my other acoustics.

Amazing!

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE California Custom Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Great guitar! This guitar is very good looking and has a great sound. The tone is little high and varies between different copies, but that can be adjusted. The color, especially the red one is beautiful and the guitar also takes electric guitar strings, making it easier for me to play because I am used to electric guitars. Sometimes I just wish I could spend every minute of my life playing this guitar. Another great guitar made by Fender.

Great guitar, but read on for color problem...

By Maya

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE California Custom Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar in black and I'm extremely pleased with it. The sound is amazing and it holds tune great, and for when it does go out of tune, the on board tuner is very useful. The neck is amazing, my wrist doesn't hurt when I play it for too long. My only complaint is when I first had this guitar ordered into my nearest guitar center, I wanted to get the Firemist silver. Fender actually has labeled firemist silver wrong, and it is a light blue instead, and the label inside the body says Lake Placid Blue. I'm not 100 percent sure, but i think the lake placid blue is a darker blue, and the firemist is the lighter one, but they are both labeled lake placid. For this reason i ended up getting the black one.

I just got the Firemist recently, and I am absolutely in love with it. The sound is so beautiful, the tuner works perfect, and it's beautiful. No flaws. Well, to me anyways. I just love it. I hope this helps. (:

Love the neck

By Lester

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE California Custom Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The Soft C neck was the whole reason I bought this guitar and I absolutely love the guitar. Very nice tone and holds the tune well. Haven't had any issues with the guitar and have owned it for over a year.

Can't Beat It for the Money

By Roger C.

from Lynnwood WA

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE California Custom Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was looking to purchase a "Travelin' Guitar" to take on trips and vacation, and came across the Fender Sonoran. The immediate coolness of the Strat headstock mated to a dreadnaught body is a REAL eyecatcher! I played it quite a bit in the store, and it played very well and displayed the quality Fender is noted for. Having played it quite a bit in the last week, I am extremely pleased, and happy to add it my collection of seven other fine electric and acoustic guitars. The tone is excellent while playing acoustic, and really comes alive when setting up and playing through an amp stack. For the money, you just can't beat the head turning looks, sound, playability and quality of this moderately priced acoustic-electric. If you can find one - BUY IT!

Fender does it again

By Jason A.

from Lombard IL

Comments about Fender California Series Sonoran SCE California Custom Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

So I went in to GC to get a new amp and try out a guitar. I saw this one on the racks (The black with white pickguard which looks amazing, kinda reminds me of a penguin) and rememeberd I had read some reviews on it earlier, so I tried it out. Now I'm not a great guitarist, 5 years experience, but I had everyone in the room looking at me play. This guitar sounds BEAutiful, and has great action. The electronics great, the tuner is a little off but not to bad, and as stated, it sounds great acoustic. Easily beats some more expensive brands. Afterwards talked to a guy and he got me a great deal, this plus a gigbag (Road Runner so you know its a good one). Thanks uncle Randy, to everyone else, get this guitar, it's worth it.
