I got this guitar take on campouts, parties, and to use at open mics I run, so I would not have to use one of my expensive acoustic guitars.
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the build and the sound when it came.
I like everything about this guitar. It's plain Jane old blues look, the neck shape, the fretboard, the tuners, nut and saddle, and most of all the price.

Sound wise it is kind of mid range. No it is not boomy like a solid wood guitar but it projects just fine and is not cheap sounding one bit.

This has a full size guitar feel to it. The nut width is 1.69 inches which fits this guitar for finger style playing nicely. The neck has a comfortable shape and overall the guitar is easy to play.
The set up and string height out of the box is just fine. I had to look close to see there was binding on the body and neck as it is absolutely seamless. The fret ends are finished nicely. The overall finish is flawless. The open gear tuners do the job and add a nice vintage touch. The nut and saddle look like a hard synthetic bone like material and is not plastic. I put some better bridge pins in I had sitting around to replace the plastic ones and it seemed to warm up the sound a little and add some sustain.

Mine had a very slight fret buzz on the G string on a couple frets. It comes with a truss rod wrench. A slight adjustment on the truss rod and the buzz seems to be gone.

The only thing unsightly is the strap button on the body. At least they put a felt washer under it and did not tighten it into the finish or dent the wood with it so I just had to fill the screw hole with some dark wax filler.

My favorite quick installation pickup is the Barcus Berry 1455-3 insider. You just drill the end pin hole out to 1/2 inch and stick the pickup inside under the saddle and you are good to go. No batteries needed. I use a little Roland battery cube amp with it at campouts and acoustic jams. It rocks.

As for a case, It drops right into a classical size case perfectly.

The Fender is a adequate parlor guitar. Not a great one. I was shopping for a travel guitar to replace my 12 year old Big Baby Taylor. Hard act to follow! If you want an inexpensive guitar that plays reasonably well and sounds okay, this one is a good choice. But once again the truth is; you get what you pay for. I didn't care for the neck shape or thickness. The Big Baby Taylor has a much nicer neck and by far better tone, but double the price. Intonation was good and finish was okay. Volume was good, but range of tone was lacking, a bit muddy. Maybe strings could correct that. There are much better parlor guitars available but you will pay more. So, once again its all about finding the best match for your budget. And I was not satisfied so I sent it back. BTW; return shipping to Kansas City from Florida was the price of a steak dinner for two! So choose wisely my young friends.

Comments about Fender CP-100 Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

I love this guitar. I saw several reviews saying how great this guitar was. But since it was not stocked at my local stores and had an opportunity to play it, I really did not want to order it then have to cover the free shipping to return it. Though Fender is not known for their acoustic guitars as much as their electrics (I am a big fan), this guitar has an excellent build, great setup, easy to play,
surprisingly great tone for a laminated top, level fret work, and so on. If it has been stocked at my local store, there would have been very little hesitation taking it home. If they stocked them at the store, I think they would sell very well. This one has become my new go to ahead of the other ones that I paid more for. Good job Fender.

Comments about Fender CP-100 Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

I am a senior that plays bass and just wanted to start learning guitar so wanted to get an inexpensive one to learn on. I could not find this guitar in stock at any stores and bought it sight unseen except for what reviews I could read on-line. While being a rookie to six string guitar, this one is very easy to play and sounds very good to me.

Comments about Fender CP-100 Parlor Acoustic Guitar:

I like these parlor sized guitars. I had a Peavey Composer that wasn't bad, but I wanted to try something else. Fit and finish are pretty good considering the cheap price. The tuners work properly, and the sound is much like I expected. Volume is decent considering the size, and the fret work isn't bad. Action out of the box is not what I would call great, but I have seen much worse. I do find the neck to be a little narrow, and the string spacing a little closer than I would like, even though I have average size hands. I would think a person with large hands would find it quite uncomfortable. Other than that aspect, I think it's a good buy. One other thing worth mentioning: I bought the Fender 3/4 size acoustic gig bag to use with this guitar, and it does not fit. The body fits like a glove, but the headstock sticks out the top just enough that you can't zip it. It would have been perfect if it had been about one inch bigger.

This was my choice between the recording king dirtyh thirties.... Quality and overall finish goes to the cp-100. I would buy again if needed. Action was not bad at all. I am a beginner but this parlor was user friendly.
