Purchased to leave at a vacation home. I was really blown away by the craftsmanship, visual beauty, & sound for the price. Even the case is quality! It feels very solid in your hands. The photo of the guitar does not do it justice. I purchased via the website & the packing provided ensured no damage. The follow up during the shipping process from GC was really great as well. Great overall purchase experience. (This is my 3rd online purchase from GC)
I have been playing guitar for fifty plus years. Due to the fact that there aren't any luthiers in my area of Kentucky,I wanted another acoustic guitar to play while I put my old 1964 epiphone away until I can get some repairs. I have always believed that anyone who wants to learn to play a guitar should get a good guitar to learn with. I have seen people buy a really cheap instrument to learn on and Hercules himself couldn't press the strings down therefore, they became discouraged and missed out on a life time of enjoyment! I highly recommend this guitar as a not too expensive one to learn on! The action is excellent! The sound is also excellent! The look of the mahogany finish is simply beautiful! This is my first Fender acoustic and I am very impressed! I also own Gibson Les Pauls and SG,s and I find that the neck on this CD60 is very much like my SG which is very thin, adding to it's playability!
I bought this model guitar from a music store in Fairbanks Alaska. I wanted an inexpensive guitar to play while on vacation there. I played one at my local music store to see how it played and sounded before I ordered it from the Alaska dealer. I really liked it once I started playing it, and instead of dropping it off in California, I ended up bringing it home. (Trip got cancelled 1/2 way through!) I own two Taylor guitars but will often choose to play this Fender because it sounds so nice. No buzzing, great low end tone, plays easily. It was re-strung prior to me playing it with Martin coated strings. Can't comment on the original strings as I did not play it with them on. I think this guitar sounds quite nice for this price range and a laminated wood guitar. I have played guitar for 50 years. Mostly strumming. Precisly tuned, this guitar is a great deal for the money, especially with the case thrown in.(it's not the heaviest construction I have ever seen but the guitar fits snuggly into the padding which to me, is important.) I get many compliments on the guitars appearance (mahogany). I prefer a bit less gloss to guitar finishes but this is a minor point and my personal preference. Try one to see if it fits with your ear. ps. If you are not a guitar player, and in the market to buy a guitar to start learning how to play, try to find a friend who plays and take them with you to the guitar store. Have them play the same song on each guitar you are considering buying. Each person is different in deciding what kind of sound they want in a first purchase guitar. If you can't find a friend who plays, ask for a store clerk to do the same thing. Spending even $50.00 on a guitar is a waste of money if it only has the ability to sound awful. Also, any guitar that is played when even one string is out of tune, will sound bad. Ask the guitar store clerk if an electronic tuner is available while your friend is playing for you to evaluate each guitar. It takes only a minute to tune a guitar using a tuner and it's the only legitimate way to compare the guitars to each other. I hope this has helped.
I bought this to practice with when I cannot plug in my electric to my amp and for camping trips. I don't know if I want to take it camping though, it is way too nice of a guitar! The sound is rich and precise and the polished mahogany resonates nicely with each note adding to the pleasant tones.
