I have had an electric guitar for a bit now but have had that earning to buy an acoustic because the true sound is so amazing. I went to Guitar Center and was deciding on either an Epiphone or Ibanez pf. I liked both but neither one was sticking out from the other, both were just at $300. Then as I was playing I looked up on the wall and saw a guiatars beautful look of perfection. My first chord was a G and half way thrugh the strum destiny showed itself. Sounds both deep and clear while still alowing those high notes to ring ever so clearly. And the color even matches my mohagony strat, which what caught my eye in the first place. The guitar is most perfect for any skill level, it can clear out mistakes and dance like those hot girls you see on TV. This is the best purchase I have ever made ( :

If I had known I would've bought a different guitar.

Have had the guitar less than a year... Ive had to replace the onboard electronics, and the bridge is pulling from the body, obviously cracked the front of the guitar.

Read this one first

You are not going to find a better sounding Acoustic-Electric for the money. Looks and finish are flawless. It plays wonderful. The pickup and preamp sound awesome. Just don't plug it in at first, listen to it by itself. That alone sold me. Unless you have money to burn and want to drop a grand or more, this guitar will do anything you would ever want it to do and at a price that's pretty awesome.

Fender Dao Acoustic-Electric

By Mike

from Deep in the Heart of Texas (coastline)

All I could say was WOW when I strummed the strings for the first time. I had played several Martin's and Taylors that were between $1500-$3000 and found that this guitar sounded as good or better than some. I wasn't even looking to buy a "fender". The tone is very mellow with a rich bass quality. The mid and high sounds are crisp and well balanced. I plugged it into an amp and the fishman preamps are great. I really like the tuner on the preamp...it shuts off the sound from the output while you tune and turns it back on with the push of a button. Way...Cool... I don't think you can beat this guitar in this price. I love "different" guitar looks and this one certainly is different. The Dao wood looks almost like "tiger eye" (polished rock) or so my 8 year old said when I showed it too him. The gold hardware is a nice touch also. All around a good buy and a quality instrument. I was looking for a cheaper taylor and i had my credit card. I was bound to find the right guitar and was not concerned about money. I couldnt help but notice the finish on this guitar, so of course i played it. Stigmatized- The calling, after ifinished the song... i was shocked... and charged it to my credit card, i do not regret this at all. best guitar ive played in years

Looks as good as it sounds

By Mike C

from Sacramento, CA

This is my 2nd steel string acoustic guitar...the first being a Yamaha FG700s which I still have. Compared to the Yamaha the CD220CE sound is noticeably bigger overall at the bottom and more pronounced in the highs. The overall tone is nice and balanced and if you strum hard you'll fill up the room. I seldom play plugged in and the CD220CE has a great natural sound. Four stars only because I find the guitar somewhat difficult to play with my small hands, especially full barre chords on the 1st and 2nd frets. If your hands are normal or large this shouldn't be a problem.

Buy It

By Adam44

from Chattanooga, TN

I got this guitar about two weeks ago and it has really exceeded my expectations. My brother stole my Martin and took it to college with him so I was really just looking for something to play until he gave it back to me. I had my eye on a used Taylor when I spotted this beauty. I usually stay away from Fender acoustic guitars but once I played it I had to have it. It sounds almost as good as the Martin I had that costs twice as much. The pre-amp works great and the built in tuner is another added bonus. BBBUUUUYYYY IIIITTTTT!!!!!

Gorgeous Looks and Tone

By Justincaster

from Lubbock, TX

I went to GC to buy an Epiphone Hummingbird and saw this one on sale. Played it and fell in love with it. The wood is just stunning. This has a very warm tone. It has the same electronics of some much more expensive guitars. Mine came strung with d'addario 26 coated strings and I have been using them since - great tone on this guitar and very easy on the hands.

Couldn't have been more satisfied!

By Marcus Henson

from AZ

This guitar is not only a very beautiful piece of work but has a great, warm sound to it great for various styles of music. I did have a little problem with the A string buzzing at first but got the guitar set up and was instantly better. Not only does this guitar sound and look great but it sounds just as good if not better in an amp. You should definitly purchase this item!

Had to have this one

By Schatzle

from Brookville, IN

I liked the rugged look so I had to try it out in the store. Loved the deep, full sound. Played it in the store a couple more times and had to have one for myself. Pleased that the one I received had even better action than the one in the store. Sounds awesome plugged into my PA system. Has good electronics, I like having an onboard tuner. Only drawback is an occasional rattle or buzz on the strings, should ba an easy fix though.

I love this guitar.

By Max Bailey

from MN

From the sound to the finish, this is a GREAT guitar. This is the only acoustic guitar I use. I got it a few years ago and i'm hooked. The sound is so pure and soft, yet it can get crunchy if ya like. Loud and proud, also good for stairway to heaven...(just don't get kicked out of guitar center playing that song ;D ) The finish is amazing, the picture may look dull, but it is still glossy and shining today! I LOVE THIS GUITAR!

Dao is a new meaning of "art" on wood.

By Gregorio Linayao

from Bakersfield

So this is my second steel guitar. I had a Mitchell MD 100, in my opinion i loved it until i realized i pick this guitar out. btw This Guitar Blends so amazing with A Taylor(GA). So i had this guitar for 4 months now and just saying is amazing the wood is so amazing, the lows and highs are perfect. especially if you put Elixir string on the guitar its so perfect. The pictures you see above you are the old model The new one is a solid top Dao. And they are Aero Fishmen pickups witch sounds awesome on a PA!! Suggestions: 1. Get elixir strings 2. Get a fret Board Cleaner 3. Get a Humidifier and This Guitar is golden! enjoy who ever get this! you pick an amazing guitar! and YES That is my guitar in the Customer Photos! Her name is "Marina"

Big and beautiful!

By Gregory Riedel

from Jamesburg, NJ

Bought this guitar as a Christmas Gift to myself in 2009. Wasn't the guitar I had my eye on, but this caught my eye because of the wood. Got one from Store stock in a box took it home and wrapped it. Opened it on Christmas. The wood was beautiful and the gain matched on all sides. Went to put a battery in it and noticed the EQ batter door was Mis-aligned and cracked. Took it back to the store and they replaced it with another no questions asked. Was a bit disappointed that the wood on the back of the replaced guitar did not matched the front and sides, but figured "Who sees the back while I am playing it?" Took it home. Love the tone of this guitar, definitely not tinny, deep lows and bright highs. Stays in tune well. Sometimes I feel that the width of the body of guitar is a bit deep. But I deal with it because the neck is smooth and it is fairly easy to make the chords. It sounds great unplugged and pluged in it is awesome. You can definitely spend more and get bells and whistles you many not need or if you want to impress people with how deep you pockets are. For me the guitar gives me what I want. But next time out I won't go as deep as this one. Try it out, You just might bring it home to introduce to your amp.
