Comments about Fender CD-140S Acoustic Guitar:

I was afraid that this guitar wouldn't sound good when I got it but I was very wrong. This is a great guitar. It has a very clean sound and it just feels easy to play. It is a great full sized guitar for a low coast and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an acoustic guitar.

        Excellent Guitar

        By MAURICE

        from Mountain View, CA

Comments about Fender CD-140S Acoustic Guitar:

I had been looking for the best possible guitar in this price range for daily playing and gigging. I narrowed it down to 5 different models: Yamaha FG700S, Fender CD-140S, Mitchell MD100S, Ibanez AW50, and the slightly more expensive Alvarez AD30. After extensively trying them all out, I came to the conclusion that the Fender was definitely the best all-around guitar for the money. The Alvarez sounded just as good but I didn't want to spend the extra money on it as I set a cap of $200. The Yamaha came in at a very close second. And the others, while good sounding, didn't have the fullness of sound I was looking for. For the money, this guitar comes with a lot of features available only on more expensive models. The top is solid spruce (although I'm not sure what variety of spruce) and is very nicely grained and book-matched. The quality of construction is very good and the finish is also very nice. What I feel makes the biggest difference in the sound of this guitar: which is very open with excellent bass and really good balance across the spectrum, is the scalloped bracing and the Nubone nut & saddle. This guitar will only sound better as it ages and even now, rings like a bell. So many people have given the Yamaha FG700S such high ratings and for good reason, it's an excellent guitar, but after playing the Fender, it just didn't quite have the quality of sound that the CD-140S did. It's definitely not in the same league as my high-end Guild, but it's surprisingly good nonetheless. Definitely a keeper!

        Incredible Playability and Sound!

        By - -

Comments about Fender CD-140S Acoustic Guitar:

Absolutely incredible Guitar by Fender! From the moment I touched the guitar, the playing felt natural, as if I were playing the guitar for years. The action was perfect (might be a bit high for some who are coming from electric guitars). There is a warm and crisp tone that resonates brilliantly from this CD140S. The finish looks great, and the neck plays smooth. Overall, this guitar stays in tune very well, even with much playing. If you're looking for an acoustic guitar, look no further than the CD140S. Incredible all around. Matches many of the other Martin's and Breedlove guitars I've played - and at a price that is unbeatable! I have no complaints about this guitar! Pick one up and try it out! You'll be pleasantly surprised by how amazing this guitar truly is!

A great buy for beginner and even beyond

        By David Dunfee

        from Galloway, NJ

Comments about Fender CD-140S Acoustic Guitar:

This was the very first guitar I ever bought for myself, I had a $200 price range so I sat in the acoustic room and spent well over an hour nitpicking the various other selections in my price range, common issues were poor action, lack of tone depth, and even a seeming lack of craftsmanship, however, once I picked up the 140S, I couldn't put it down for a solid 20 minutes, and that's when I barely knew how to play a G-chord. It's well built, the joints are fairly seamless, no warped areas, buzzing, or rattling, and best of all for the beginner, the smooth satin low-pro neck and good action combine to provide a very forgivable, easy to play guitar. Also it has a much greater tone depth than guitars in a similar range, which I happen to like so much that after trying $600-800 Martins recently I felt unsatisfied because they couldn't match it. Basically, if you want a guitar that you're going to be learning on, or just want an affordable one with good tone to take with you around town, this is it, I've had mine for a little over 2 years and I can honestly say I still play it every day and still love it, just slapped on some brand new Elixir Nanoweb strings last week (which I also highly suggest, best strings I've ever used, better than Martin Lifespans, and far better than what it comes with originally) and it sounds just as good if not better than the day I brought it home. For reference, I generally keep mine in Drop-D tuning, pick 1-4 and usually only go to 5-6 for chord strumming, sort of a country style but more free flowing

        Great Beginner Guitar

        By Haley Brooks

        from Virginia

Comments about Fender CD-140S Acoustic Guitar:

This is my first guitar, but not the first in my family. My brother and father, both guitar enthusiasts, thought that this played incredibly for a guitar at this price. And I, who played about 20 guitars, looking for the one that I believed would suit me best, thought this was absolutely gorgeous. In love with this gorgeous guitar!

        Great action!

        By Gene Leal

        from Lancaster Ca

Comments about Fender CD-140S Acoustic Guitar:

The action on this guitar is incredible! I must have tried every acoustic in this price range at the store. I couldn't believe how beautiful it played the moment I picked it up. The sound is rich and full with great resonation and simply smokes. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this purchase.

My first guitar... and also my favorite!

        By Maxwell Major

        from San diego, CA

Comments about Fender CD-140S Acoustic Guitar:

just before my 14th Birthday, I decided I wanted to learn to play guitar. I had a First Act electric that I used for my first lesson, but my teacher said that I needed an acoustic. So I went to G.C. to look for one. After two guitars that I dismissed, The person who was helping me pulled out a CD140. I played the few chords I knew on it, and I felt like there was a connection between us. it was perfect! It's been a little over 5 months now (as of Sep. 2012), and I STILL think it's great! I love the sound, too. The tone is pleasant, it isn't as bulky as most dreadnoughts, and there's a subtle yet harmonic ring to it. Guitarists may upgrade often, but I think that the Fender CD140 is irreplaceable!

        For What It Is

        By Aaron Brown

        from Albuquerque, NM

Comments about Fender CD-140S Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar is not a high end guitar, so you can't expect it to play like one. But for what it is - a very inexpensive beginner's guitar - it is was a wonder. With a wonderful sound to it, and an action that plays better than any guitar in its price range that I have tried, its ease of play is unbeatable for the price. This was my first guitar I bought for myself. I went out with my father - who, unlike me, is a guitar expert - and played guitars in my price range. We found this Fender and it was a done deal. In short, for a beginner guitar, you can't do much better. A very pleasing guitar with good looks, good sound, and the best action in the price range. Is it comparable to a Martin or Taylor? No. Does it beat the others in its class? You better believe it. I love my Fender 140.
