I bought this amp a couple of years ago to replace a heavier Bassman 100. I was afraid of the 10" speaker and the 40 watts of power for a bass, but that fear was outweighed by the convenience of a small package to tote around. SURPRISE!!! This little amp stands well on it's own at the American Legion and VFW halls I normally play at. However I use the line out to the PA most of the time. That 10" speaker must be one heck of a speaker to take the pounding a bass gives it. No breakup or distortion at moderate volumes. And hey, bass carries well so actually unless you are playing outside or playing heavy metal, that's all you need. I play classic country and golden oldies. This amp is great for the performer moving up in age and not able to carry around those huge bass speakers and amp heads.
Yes, folks... It's that time of the year, where we musicians experience G.A.S., i.e. Gear Acquisition Syndrome. I wanted a bass amp that was very portable, relatively inexpensive, plus had a great sound. I found these qualities in the Fender Bronco 40. It weighs in at 30 lbs., which is perfect when transporting from room to room. In terms of sound quality, I put several amps through their paces, including the Orange Crush PiX CR50BXT (too "hairy" and expensive), Marshall MB30 (not bad, decent price, but not as full-featured as the Bronco), and actually checked out the Fender Rumble 75 ( great amp, same price as the Bronco, but compromised the portability issue, coming in at 46 lbs.). I had the Line 6 LowDown Studio 110 on my list, but scrubbed it due to the high number of them on several site's "Used Equipment" areas. In terms of look and feel, it has the carbon fiber exterior, reinforced corners, controls are solid... What can I say? Santa was good to me, this year!
For the $, this is a rocking little amp. Great range, from crisp to muddy. Plenty loud.
I've had my Bronco 40 for over a month now and it's every bit what Fender says it is. Since I didn't know which amp to get, the idea of having the flexibility of 8 amps in one intrigued me. If I didn't like it I would bring it back. Then I brought it to a jam session, my musically experienced friends were blown away by the deep sound of the "Rockin' Peg" preset and kept bugging me to amp up a couple of effects. They also made sure I had the output for a P.A. It's very well made, easy to carry around, highly versatile, and that's before I plugged it into my computer and downloaded the Fuse software which really opens another universe of tone! No way I'm bringing this back--why limit myself to one amp? This one is mine!
I own a Line 6 Flextone III so amp very experienced with modeling amps. The Bronco 40, along with Fender Fuse software is very intuitive and capable. Fender packaged huge number of features in this amp (tuner, several amp models, effects pedal modeling, etcۡ_). The only challenge I came across was when using the midi connection as an input to garage band. The signal (volume) was too weak. This was easily corrected with a firmware update available on line at Fender support (one needs to be a bit computer savvy to get the full capabilities out of this unit). The amp sounds incredible. It is ideal for home studio work or small venues. You will never get board using this amp. It is literally like owning 8 amps, several effects pedals and more all in one unit. Very worth the price.
I normally use an Ampeg Head w/ GK 4x10 cabinet, but, it got a little too loud to play around the house just so I could get that necessary punch and clarity. I came into the store looking for something that sounds great, was compact, lightweight, and full featured. Then, this amp appeared to me! After playing on it for about 10 minutes, I was sold. With the built-in presets and the USB connectivity, I am able to get near studio quality recordings right to my PC, and even control the amp from my PC! I have never tried an amp like this one before where I can tweak all the settings right from Fender's Fuse application, and cater it to the various genres that I play. Now I am able to lay down my drum tracks with my Roland TD-4K2-S, Lead and Rhythm from my Line6 Spider III, and my newest addition: the Bronco 40. I totally love this combo amp and would highly recommend it to any bass enthusiast. I have never used a combo so compact and full featured like this one before, and the support for it is second to none. Don't think about it, Buy it! I buy all my equipment from GC and ask that you go and give this amp a try before you look/buy anything else! Thanks for all your help and support, Guitar Center!
Very good Bass amp, very good Guitar amp. For the Price, can't beat it. Amp modeling is great, if your flavor not there add a pedal. Good baritone guitar amp. Many possibilities. Have fun..................
Great amp, not only a good Bass amp but a great guitar amp. If you like baritone guitar, if you like that deep guitar bass tone, over all that good Fender tone, get one, you'll be glad you did. Nowadays with limited funds a great investment while NOT breaking the bank. If taken or destroyed I would replace it.
