I've been playing guitar, mostly rock and blues, for about 50 years. I now play a Gibson Les Paul double cutaway pro with Burstbucker pro pickups. I have a Marshall MG50DFX amp...50 watts with a single 12" Eminence speaker...and it rocks pretty well. I was impressed until I tried out this little 15 watt Blues Jr. NOS. I tried out the regular Blues Jr. and this one side by side. I thought the NOS was beefier and better overall tone. Naturally, I baught it, took it home and tried it out next to the Marshall. At 5 on the volume, it blew the Marshall away full up. Plenty of overdrive. To me, you don't want so much distortion that your guitar sounds too muddy. This has excellent crunch and great harmonics. The Blues Jr. NOS holds a chord or note for MUCH longer than the Marshall did also. Light weight, great looks and killer sound. Buy this amp. Well worth the money. Anyone need a 50 watt Marshall out there?

I'm 59, started at 7. It seems I've had a new amp every year. I know Fenders. I've been away from home. I got into Marshall combos thinking I was going smaller, but they still weigh a ton. My solution was to go back to the smallest amps that sound big. There's been lots of changes since I've been into Fender amps. The Hot Rod series has the right price for most people and just enough options to cover any application. I got the Jr to use while something else was on order. Once I heard the reverb I realized I'd been without a Fender for too long. My last was a super, nice of course, but it went toward a Marshall. Now that I know better I want that sound back again but without the weight. This series is the answer. I'm stuck on playing in stereo and two of any except the pro jr would work fine. Mine does have a problem though, I don't get the sustain I'd like --perhaps a remnant of using Marshall. Perhaps it's just tubes, which leads me to another idea. Why not 6V6 tubes. Look at the classic tone machines, all early Fender, many models, one primary power tube: the beautiful 6V6. I don't have much else. For the money the series is a great deal. They could sound better, but so could everything else. The simplicity is what this is about. Pick it up, back seat to the gig and done. No crew of five guys, no tech dialing in tone. In short, it's idiot proof. I'm using one. Seriously, not a Rockefeller, here's your amp. Sure it could be better, but she's a tube Fender with reverb -- that's all you really need to know.

Comments about Fender Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed 15W 1x12 Combo:

Bought this for our son who plays rock/blues mix. He has played live with it mic'd with great success. Plenty of power. It was really bright for his style out of the box so we added an OCD overdrive pedal and now it rocks. He plays with a Gibson makes a great combination ZZ Top type sounds. Practices mostly in his bedroom has great low volume response and tone. A great all around budget friendly tube amp.

Comments about Fender Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed 15W 1x12 Combo:

From the first notes I played on this amp, I was impressed with the quality of the sound. I've played this amp a few times now and every type of sound I get out of this amp gives me the quality of tone I've wanted for so long. I own other tube amps such as a Peavey Windsor Studio and an Epiphone Valve Junior, but this Fender Blues Junior has noticeably better tone. This is truly the real deal in terms of tone quality. In addition, the volume and master volume allow great pre-amp distortion at low volumes. Creamy distortion suitable for some great blues guitar and classic rock. While this amp may not have every feature (standby switch, effects loop, external speaker output), its quality of tone and versatility of sound at this price point make it a great value. Unless you are playing high gain metal, do not hesitate to purchase, you will not be disappointed.

Comments about Fender Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed 15W 1x12 Combo:

The Blues Jr is not built to last. I've had to repair mine several times and I haven't really used it that much. I've had problems with the input jack, reverb pot and a ribbon cable. I've assemble electronic products and I can tell you this is one of the most cheaply made products I've seen. All of the potentiometers are PC board mount, so every time you put ant pressure or turn the knobs it stresses the solder joints. The tube sockets are the same PC board mount, so when changing tubes it can peel the solder traces off the board. In the process of repairing these problems one of the cheap ribbon cable started breaking off at the PCB. IMO total garbage when it comes to quality.

The amp is good for picking and solos, but not for strumming or playing chords, not the sound I am looking for the cleans are shrill.I have a standard USA Strat with stock fat 50 pups and a Ephi with classic 57 pups,no pedals, not willing to spend, the money for pedals for this amp, planning on buying the 65 DRRI and adding a modified 808 Ts tubscreamer, I believe that will suite my taste much better. The blues jr. great amp for the right person.

Comments about Fender Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed 15W 1x12 Combo:

I bought this amp after laying out a significant amount of money on a used SuperSonic 22 which gave me nothing but headaches. So I was looking for a simple, classic-sounding tube amp with good reliability. And I have to say, this is it. The sound is off the chart good, especially if you like clean to moderately dirty tones. Reverb and the FAT circuitry are the only frills. No effects loop. No "dirty" channel. No stand-by switch. But all those things are superfluous to the most important thing: the sound. Plug in a Tele or a Les Paul and this amp sings. Sure, there are other great amps out there at this price point. But keep this one in mind as you shop around. Its the real deal.

Comments about Fender Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed 15W 1x12 Combo:

This amp is the only amp you will ever need to capture SRV's killer tone. Paired with a Strat (preferrably with texas specials), you'll get anything from classic clean Fender tones to scorching Texas blues sounds. This amp also takes pedals very well. Just run the volume on full with the FAT switch in and treble, mids, and bass near max and add a hint of reverb, and you'll get an amazing SRV tone even without a Tubescreamer.
