....This thing is SWEEEEEET! I bought mine at the local GC and it is phenomenal. It is HONESTLY one of the sweetest sounding HH guitars you will find in this price range. And the coil splitting sounds great!! Im usually not a fan of split buckers..but this thing actually works!! ANd the fit and finish is top notch..Smooth fret ends and all around great, solid, professional feel. GC had about seven of them when I got mine..I went back 3 days later, and there were only two of the Teles left. And two more on customer order. I really think these are going to be hot..and I am not a Fender dealer or anything like that..just a VERY HAPPY customer!

I bought one of these shortly after they were released in 2010. After nearly two years, here are my thoughts: I still can't decide if I want to swap out the pick ups. Sometimes my ear thinks they sound great and sometimes my ear thinks they sound generic and lifeless. That's been true since I first played it in the store. They don't sound muddy, which is more than I ever asked of them. The wood used to make the neck is very soft so be careful if you're leaning it against something (this is why I gave it 3 stars). Frets were very nicely dressed and still are. No issues with the electronics or tremolo although I've since blocked it off. Hardware's decent. Good action. All in all a good buy.

Comments about Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Rosewood Fretboard Electric Guitar:

This thing is a tone master! It can make any sound from the twang of a tele to the warm deep sounds of a les paul. I would get my hands on this tele as soon as possible.

Absolutely Killer New Stratocaster!

By Ryan B. Genone

from Santa Cruz, CA

Comments about Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Rosewood Fretboard Electric Guitar:

I just picked up one of these guitars this past weekend and I'm totally blown away!!! I build electric guitars as a hobby and was thinking of putting together a double fat strat when I came across some advertising for this model. I trucked down to Guitar Center and tried both the maple and rosewood fretboard versions along with the rosewood board tele from the Blacktop series. I walked out with the rosewood strat in black. The cosmetics are cool and the components are great. The pickups totally surprised me by offering EXACTLY the sound I was after (this from a guy who generally uses handwound boutique pickups). Great rock and fusion sounds, and this thing plays like a dream. It wasn't set up how I like, but after about 30 minutes at home, the guitar was playing like a dream. Perfectly polished frets, super comfortable neck and easy to get any desired action including super low (not my style, but available just the same). I did one small modification by replacing the saddles. I did this because the originals had really tall height adjustment screws which were chewing up my palm. Now the guitar is just about perfect. I may upgrade the tuners at some point. If you're in the marked for a strat with humbuckers, do yourself a favor and try this one out. Even if you're considering USA or even custom shop models . . . this is one amazing guitar!

Strats + Humbuckers = Love!

By Colin

Comments about Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Rosewood Fretboard Electric Guitar:

I spent all summer trying to find a good second guitar. I started looking at Les Pauls because they were different from my regular Strat, but I couldnt get over the price (being a highschool student who doesent make a whole lot of money). When I found this guitar it was perfect. Great humbuckers that give a different tone from my regular Fender and the action and body style I love, all made with a very high quality. The price is great and makes this guitar a very affordable quality. This guitar looks great, sounds great, feels great, and you would be crazy not to play one.

It speaks for itself.

Comments about Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Rosewood Fretboard Electric Guitar:

I was actually looking for a something with HSS. Maybe a highway one or a american made strat with that pup configuration. I needed a versatile strat for my cover band. I had seen the blacktop on line and on the wall, but never played one. I walked into guitar center on black friday with the intention of buying myself an early christmas present. I saw the sonic blue with the rosewood and was immediately intrigued. My problem is I never feel, comfortable with a guitar sound until I get it home. I have a Marshall 2000 DSL 100 watt with the 1960 cab. Until I plug it in to that I am never convinced of anything. So in the shop I compared it to an American Strat with HSS. Obviously different animals. I went out of my comfort zone and took the blacktop. When I got it home my first hour was not good. My main ax is a powerhouse deluxe tweaked with vintage noiseless and it has the db boost. This is what I am used to. So the Blacktop was instantly not like that. When you split the neck pickup, it creates a tone of its own. Don't expect it to be exactly like the bridge position you are used to. So I was instantly concerned. Until I realized that this guitar expands my tonality to different areas. It is not a "typical strat" and once you are open to that it really becomes an exciting tonal trip. In the end the only thing tonally I would have asked for is more bite in the bridge humbucker. It has a nice "basic" classic rock sound. It is turning out to be a favorite blues feel too. Aside from the tonal implications the guitar is "5 star". Beautiful work especially in the neck. Very playable, great fret feel and the body is very comfortable. I am so glad I got the sonic blue, just like the tone the look stands out among my three other strats. If you want a unique strat, something a little different from the ordinary, get this guitar. However, if you are looking for the usual "strat sound" look around before making this move.

Fender came through again with an amazing guitar that fits anyones budget

By David

from Cleveland, Ohio

Comments about Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Rosewood Fretboard Electric Guitar:

Picked it up at guitarcenter.com (they are awesome) ordered it in sonic blue with maple neck because to me a fender guitar is best with maple necks. But thats just my opinion. I had the guitar shipped site to store to avoid my new guitar sitting outside in the cold weather. Got to GC in cleveland and had handed them my ID and signed for the pickup of my new guitar. The store manager came out of the back with my guitar and one of his employees and I opened it up to see it. WOW.....!!!!!!! That's BEAUTIFUL~~~!!!!! The finish is just amazing, The neck is perfect the guitar I thought was going to be some bad electronic "mexi" strat that I would have to upgrade and adjust and make it a custom guitar is now something that "i dont even have to touch" except play. Its that perfect... I thought that the pickups were going to be thin sounding garbage that you expect out of the mexi cheap strats. NNNNNOOOOOOOO!!!!!! They are amazing. Crunchy, clean, distorted, and sound perfect to my ears. They can touch any style of music making this a very versatile strat/guitar. I just wish that I could own one of ever of the blacktop series guitars now... But I'm more than happy with this guitar. The paint is really, really good the pickups are really, really, good. The neck is really, really good. This guitar is the best value for what you get guitar out on the market and this is coming from someone that bought the 2010 american special stratocaster and telecaster. And also owns a Jap tele RI and a gibson LP and other various premium guitars. This is my new everyday guitar. The one you leave on the stand next to your tube am and just smile whe you know she always home :)

New Generation of Perfection

By Benny McGee

from San Diego, Ca

Comments about Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Rosewood Fretboard Electric Guitar:

I traded in my Ibanez RG 5EX1, I had bought it 2 weeks prior so i got the full refund back. I had $400 credit and the Blacktop Strat was $450, but they traded me no extra charge (sweet). Anyhow, this car makes me happy every time I look at it. I am very happy I traded my 5EX1, the Floyd Rose was too much to deal with tuning wise, thought it would stay in tune for a while longer, it didn't make up for the amount of time and effort you have to put into retuning it. The split buckers are key, on other guitars they have proven to be unfavorable to me personally as I think is the general consensus, but this guitar pulls it off flawlessly, its a whole new playing field. My neighbor asked me how many different guitars I own, cuz I play many different styles of music n songs and the guitar sounds unique to each songs, she couldnt believe all those different sounds could come out of a single guitar, and my amp was on clean and no additional effects besides the 5 switch and volume and tone knobs were used. Very impressive, I became a much more proud owner at that moment. You cant beat this especially for the price. I'm not a fender fan boy either, my previous guitars were (in order) 1) B.C. Rich Warlock (Mick Thompson) 2)Ibanez RG 120 3)Epiphone Studio Electric Guitar 4)Ibanez 5EX1 (briefly) 5) and now my beautiful Blacktop Strat. So coming from someone who used to try and avoid Fenders in general, this guitar dramatically changed my opinion of them.

Awesome Blues/Rock Guitar!

By Michael

from Bellingham, WA

Comments about Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH with Rosewood Fretboard Electric Guitar:

I got an all black one of these with the rosewood fretboard and it is amazing! i have read a lot of reviews that say the neck gets sticky but i really havent had any problems like that! to me the neck is amazing, it feels more like an american strat neck then a mexican strat neck! the coil split on the pickups is amazing, giving you warm, thinner single coil SRV style sounds, and hard, crunchy humbucker tones! all in one just by the flick of a switch. This guitar sounds amazing with a Fender Blues Junior III amp, which is what I have with it. the combination of those 2 is a blues players dream, they even have good classic rock tones too! its an amazing looking, playing and feeling guitar for the price. dont hesitate, get a blacktop strat! you will not be dissapointed
