Best Bass or Keyboard Amp

By Rock

from Detroit

Comments about Fender Bassman 250/210 Bass Combo Amp:

WOW! Was hesitant to switch out of my GK, Peavey and Yorkville history of amps but GC's deal on this Fender 250/210 was too much to pass up. I needed a live-performing amp that would carry my keyboard (and left-hand bass) parts over the drums and (loud) guitarist in a classic rock power trio. Well, I must say: I am pleasantly shocked at what Fender has accomplished with this amp. The variables for creating your own sound are nearly endless. Lots of EQ adjustments, even an overall tweeter brightness (or off) adjustment makes this amp almost limitless in terms of getting the "right" sound. The twin 10"s emit more thump and punchy bass than any 15" rig I've had in the past. The only negative I'd give this amp is the carpet covering--which seems to always attract lint, burrs and over time just has a terrible "old" look. If Fender goes to a covering similar to to spray-in bedliners I'd give this amp a perfect "10"!

Just what I needed

By Ray

Comments about Fender Bassman 250/210 Bass Combo Amp:

I play in a rock band, but only do a few small gigs a year - the rest is just for fun. I don't need anything to play a big hall, just something solid and priced right. And I don't ever buy cheap stuff, always quality. That's what I got in this combo. Good quality equipment at a good price that is powerful enough to really jam, but can still fit in my Honda sedan. This is in no way a negative, but we play a few outdoor gigs and then I will probably want to add the 15" bottom just to move more air, but the sound is fine without it. The equalization is much better than most amps in this range with 5 controls. I was using a 1/15" before and the sound is definitely a bit crisper while still really carrying the lows. I definitely recommend this combo for anyone looking for something in this range.

An Amp With Character

By Senor Time

Comments about Fender Bassman 250/210 Bass Combo Amp:

This amp has got it all. It is reletively light and easy to transport. It has a wide range of sounds that you can produce and the horn is excellent when you want to get the best "pop" when slapping your bass. It is also very powerful, enough so that the band might tell you to lower your amp when performing at a bar, has happend to me. Overall it is a great buy.

Outstanding Equipment!

By Jess Gaze

from Fort Wayne, Indiana

Comments about Fender Bassman 250/210 Bass Combo Amp:

This amplifier is outstanding. I play a Fender Standard Jazz and an upright. This combo suite any needs for a high school/college bass player. The EQ control is fantastic, it has the professional sound that bass players seek. Loud enough for a jazz band for sure, and just great sounding! I now own two of these, preferring them as my sound, I will not choose anything else except a larger version. The sweeps are a nice feature as well. :] Note: Yes, the wheels are atrocious. Replace them asap with some casters from your local hardware store. Prefer a nice set so you can sit on the combo.

the Bassman is NICE...

By djflats

from Festus, MO

Comments about Fender Bassman 250/210 Bass Combo Amp:

I've had the Fender Bassman 250/210 for about a year now. I had my mind set on the Ampeg BA210SP and played a Precision through the Ampeg a while then I saw the Bassman. I decided to try it and to me it sounded better. It has good bottom end and the mids and hi's will cut too, great with the 2x10's. It has plenty of features to shape your sound like the equalizer and contour, compression controls. I haven't had it set any higher than 4 on the volume so far, I haven't needed to, but it does kick. The casters are nice but I had to beef them up a bit, they're kind of weak. The carpeted enclosure collects some dust but I just brush it down or use a small vac attachment if I feel the need. The only real drawback I have is I'd like to have the option of adding an external cabinet like a 1x15 but you can't do it with this amp. All in all I'd recommend this amp for bass players. It would serve at medium venues if not larger.

Best I've Ever Used

By Mentally_Guitarded

from Dawson Pennsylvania

Comments about Fender Bassman 250/210 Bass Combo Amp:

This is one great amp, you can hear the bass through the guitarist and singer easily. Picks up a drop tuning and high notes like its nothing, losing no sounds. Follows with styles unlike any other bass amp, I play alot of metal in drop d, but love funk. It hasnt failed me yet.

Hooked!

By CJ

from South Carolina

Comments about Fender Bassman 250/210 Bass Combo Amp:

I couldnt be any happier with this amp. I play a fender amarican p-bass through it, and will soon be playing a j-bass as well. I was very pleased with the sound quality it has. I was especially pleased with its highs. When i get going i tend to run the fretboard towards the tip top of the strings. The only problem i have with this setup is the casters. Reinforce them as soon as you get it because they will pull out of the wood. Other than that minor detail, i say buy this amp. You'll be glad you did.
