Overview

The Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster has been updated to be more like his current number-one Fender! Updates include a White /Black/White pickguard, bullet truss rod nut and machine screw neck mounting! This neck mounting method provides a better connection and overall tone transfer to the guitar body.

Like the original Yngwie Strat, this amazing axe features a solid alder body, modern "C" shape maple neck, and Yngwie's signature scalloped maple fretboard with Dunlop 6000 Super-Jumbo frets for a playing experience as fast as you are!

The pickups are all Yngwie tone, too! All three pickups are Seymour Duncan YJM Fury . Switch pickups with a 3-position blade and make it wail with the American Vintage Synchronized Tremolo bridge. The brass nut provides a bright sound you can't get any other way. Made in Fender's Corona, California factory. Includes case.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

I own two of these and consider myself blessed by God to have them. In my opinion there is not a better guitar for playing blues out there. I am 44 years old and have been playing since I was 15. I have never played a guitar that has given me such control and power over bends and vibrato. This is why Yngwie plays the scalloped neck. The Scallops will not make you play faster or slower. I use Fender Super Bullet 10 gauge strings. Yngwie used 10's back in his early days as well. I have both a Sonic blue/maple and a Candy Apple red/rosewood. The red/rosewood does not have the world's tightest neck pocket, but it still is a top notch guitar. This one also has deeper scallops than the blue/maple one. These guitars can do anything you would expect a great strat to do, and do it better than others. The pick ups are low output and preserve the clarity of the original signal. They are hum canceling and have the best srat tones that I have ever heard. You will need to use an overdrive pedal like Yngwie's DOD YJM 308 or an Ibanez TS9 to boost the siganal if you you really want to rock. I play at my church which is a Calvary Chapel in the San Diego area. The music we play ranges from hymns to rock that borders on heavy metal at times. My two Malmsteens are the only electric guitars that I use, or want to use. I often thank Jesus Christ for blessing me with these guitars. I plan to use both of them to worship Him for the rest of my life. The Malmsteens are built like a tank and stay in tune. They are by no means cheap, but they are worth every penny.

Professional guitarist here with 20+ years of experience and a pretty extensive guitar arsenal. Good solid guitar for the price, really, and lots of fun to play. Stunning looks too. It's medium-weighted and resonant enough. The best take on the YJM model so far, in my opinion. The setup right off the box was outstanding: truss-rod, tremolo action and string action was perfect. Very surprised. Good neck-fit also, tight in the heel with not too much clearance (although I've seen others that presented gaps beyond acceptance, mostly due to crooked necks that needed to be reset). My only negative concern it's a remarkable issue tho: the Nitrocellulose finish on the neck couldn't be worse. Good thing for TONE, yes. But it makes the guitar unplayable when it warms up. I can't believe Fender can't get this right or figured out. Looks like the nitro coat is uncured or cured in a very rushed way, so after 20 minutes of intense playing the neck get sticky to a level that really impairs playability. Give your neck a couple of coats of HONEY and let it dry for a similar experience and feel. I simply cannot play the guitar the way is delivered, so I had to options: return it and get over it or sand the back of the neck down to bare wood (which I wasn't crazy about). I like the guitar so much that I ended up doing the last option. At least now it's playable and it gained me access to lots of joy. Good people of Fender, if you're reading: good for upgrading this model up to Nitro, but if you're gonna do it... please do it RIGHT. -I would give the guitar 5 stars otherwise. Anything else is great about it.

Comments about Fender Artist Series Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

GREAT all around guitar: great finish, great looks, amazing scalloped, beautiful setup. The only problem: the new nitrocellulose finish is so sticky that makes the instrument unplayable. Feels like dried out honey. I had to sand the neck to the raw wood in order to play it professionally. Otherwise I would give this guitar 5 stars.

My only negative concern it's a major one, tho. A remarkable issue: the Nitrocellulose finish on the neck couldn't be worse. Good thing for TONE, -yes-. But it makes the guitar UNPLAYABLE when it warms up. I can't believe Fender can't get this thing right or figured out. Looks like the nitro coat is uncured or cured in a very rushed way, so after 20 minutes of regular playing the neck gets sticky to a level that really impairs playability. I simply cannot play the guitar the way is delivered, so I had two options: return it and move on, or sand the back of the neck down to bare wood (which I wasn't crazy about). I like the guitar so much that I ended up doing the last option. It was a time consuming painful task, but the results couldn't be better. At least now it's playable and it gained me access to lots of joy. Comments about Fender Artist Series Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Just like the headline says, overall quality instrument, just a terrible setup. This is what I would refer to as a Friday guitar. Must have hit the bench at 2pm, rushed through QC and setup. 1st, the G string nut slot had a ridge in it, so the first time I went to bend the G string I felt and heard the string make a loud "ting" at the nut when either bending up or down. 2nd, the bridge saddles were not set to the proper radius and the intonation was way off, not even close. 3rd, the neck was so offset in the neck pocket because the pick guard had an overhang on the upper bout, pushing the neck down that the low E string kept falling off the edge of the neck when playing. I personally fixed all the problems, but this would be a big issue for someone with no experience at these things. Fender and GC, I would expect a little more attention to detail. Well, Fender yes, GC, please? But these days its all about getting product out the door and meeting sales quotas. I would still recommend this guitar, just plan on possibly spending some time, and or money on top of the purchase price, on getting a proper setup.

Comments about Fender Artist Series Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I have to admit that straight out of the shipping carton the quality of this build stands out. I was very impressed with all of the fine details being rock solid. With that said...I replace the trem on all of my Yngwie Signature Stratocaster's with Callaham vintage narrow trems...this will solve the problem of the high E flopping off the fretboard it also allows for a great string spacing that improves speed. I love the sound of the Fury's over the DiMarzios all day long. Much better choice in pups. I however again...swap out the bridge pup with the JB Jr. or EMG S Active single coil. Just a preference for my style of playing and they sound clearer through vintage plexi's and JCM800's. Thought about swapping out tuners on all of my Yngwie's but, never have a problem staying in tune so, why fix it if it ain't broke. I would buy another in a heartbeat...GREAT GUITAR!

Comments about Fender Artist Series Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

i have the vintage with the maple neck which i suggest is the only way to go. the wood itself is just of amazing quality and the tone is super smooth when playing blues and will knock your front teeth out when playing rock. it allows for great articulation because of the low output pick ups. these pick ups handle tons of overdrive and still maintain that clarity this is about the 32 guitar ive owned at some point and i sold all ten of my old guitars to buy this one and was not disappointed at all, i even am usually a gibson guy and decided to go with this over any 1500 dollar gibson i could find

This guitar is amazing. Simply put. My uncle has this guitar and I just recently played it in a gig w/ his band. This guitar gives you so much control. The scalloped frets are my favorite feature on this guitar because they make it so easy to bend and I always know where I'm at on it. This guitar is hands down one of the best guitars I've ever played in my life. If you don't have the money for the Malmsteen, then I would suggest the Arctic White Squier Bullet. This is one hell of a guitar. You must have this in your arsenal.
