I've had this guitar for about 6 months now and I've never had a bad time playing it. I've played in bars with some friends and it's a blast. I love the sound of the Texas special pickups. They're not exactly like Stevie's, but if you spend a few minutes and set your effects up right, you can come really close to that Texas blues sound. This guitar is perfect for cold shot and I found that it's perfect for just about every Stevie song from Mary had a little lamb to SRV's version of Voodoo Child. It's awesome. A real pleasure to play. I like the lefty tremolo too with the bar on the top. It makes it easier to palm when you're playing the slow vibrations songs. IT'S A PERFECT GUITAR.

Fender Artist series Guitars are a little overated. I own an SRV and thought the tone was good through a Vibro-King(which is by the way the only Fender Product I would give a perfect 10)The problem with the SRV is String Height, and I like action high because I'm a hard Blues player, and don't care for fret buzz. The SRV can only allow, if your lucky, 1/16 inch height on all strings.Too low......... Stevie had Rene set up #1 at the 12th fret...6-5..3/32.....4-1..5/64. I love my SRV, and it fits good in my closet, were it remains as a collector's piece. I own 7 Strats, and love them all! I build custom Guitars, mainly Fender........ Strats...it's cheaper than buying one!!! You can't beat a Strat, no matter who builds it. You just can't beat the tone, and the feel of those necks! The SRV is a sweet Guitar, but over priced, and has some problems. simply put.

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar in a very timely manner by Musician's Friend, and at first I was really let down. The reason being, I had never had a guitar with 8 screws so my pickguard was "lipped" up off the guitar on almost all the ends, but I contacted Musician's Friend and they're sending me a new pickguard so I'm not so upset about that. The setup was absolutely vital in order for this guitar to work for me, which prior to, had a high end, ugly, undefined sound that reminded me nothing of SRV. So, firstly I put in raw vintage springs and put the bridge back on the body. I had fiddled with the pickups and tried to get a good sound but was kind of unhappy, I felt like there was no body to speak of in the sound, but still better than when the bridge was not tightened against the body. So I ended up checking the string height and saw that the strings were not to spec (4/64) in a couple of odd places like the A-B strings, which were higher than both e strings. So I lowered those middle strings to be to spec, and to my utter surprise, that was what helped more than anything. The frequencies felt like they had "rested" and the guitar was noticeably darker, while at the same time having much better harmonic content. Now that I could feel and hear the frequencies naturally sounding in place, I was able to find a sweet spot with the pickup height. Without hardly trying the guitar would absolutely scream when popping the strings, but were mellow enough now to sound pleasing clean, in fact I quite like the clean sound now. That said, the guitar is inherently very defined and articulate, so hot pickups like texas specials in this guitar could be a recipe for disaster if not setup right, it's important to know what you want the guitar to sound like and to not be afraid to measure and put to fender spec, if that's your preference. In my case it worked out extremely favorably. I was extremely upset at first when I got this guitar, but with some love I found the guitar sings beautifully.

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Nothing bad to say at all. SRV is a legend that changed music for everybody. This strat is an excellent instrument that celebrates that. The Texas special pick ups can growl bright ear bleeding tones as well as the sweet tone of "Lenny". Beautiful finish. The neck takes a few minutes to get use to, but then it's on! Had mine since 2007. I love it and will pass it down to my son.

Best Strat I've ever played

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I lucked into mine, was actually looking for a Jimmy Vaughan Strat when this beauty fell into my lap. Technically mine is a partscaster (a 97 body with an 01 neck) though I can't imagine that makes any difference. The neck is fantastic, I have medium to small hands and my thumb gets over just fine. Very fast and comfortable. I love the large frets, the flat radius, the pao ferro, it's all just perfect together. To my ear, this guitar has the best tone and sustain of any Strat I've ever played. The fit and finish is custom shop worthy, definitely a cut above your run of the mill American standard. The Texas specials are great but I threw in some muy grandes from rio vista and couldn't be happier (they're very similar to the ts' just wound a bit hotter). I also swapped out all the white plastic for black and ditched the garish srv pickgaurd for a regular black 3 ply but to each his own. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is the trem bar, for me its right where my palm wants to rest but I can live with it. My next and last Fender will be a custom shop piece exactly like this one except with a righty tremelo and a custom paint job. Buy it now...

Hello, My name is Raymond and I own a SRV Stratocaster. MIne is numbered SE924049, very early one. Still play it today. Have had a fret JOb and put JEff Beck Hot Noiseless Pick-ups in it. Not as fat sounding, but real bleasy and clearity and deninition to my opinion.

        Outstanding Strat

        By STEPHEN

        from Emeryville CA

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I've had my SRV Strat for a couple of years now, and I am not unhappy. This is an outstanding instrument that delivers a lot of tone. I've never been on a Stevie Ray tone search - I just want the tones that work for me. Boy does this deliver. The oval neck w/ vintage frets is comfortable, and allows you to really dig in and bend those strings. The overwound Texas Special pickups have a nice burn that can go directly to screaming, and back to mellow, while still maintaining it's general character. The lefty tremolo arm is easy to adjust to, and it is possible to palm mute, despite the position of the trem arm. Between this lovely, and my ash AST, I can get any sound I want. This guitar is worth every penny. 5 stars, easily.

I've had my SRV for a week now. Found it at the GCtr in Tallahassee. Only 2nd one I've seen here. If you're into higher end strats, try this one. The jumbo frets are comfortable, the texas specials are bold, drive hard. Great coil tap. Beautiful wood and hardware. The trem system is great, nice return with a 10 gauge set up. The braz rosewood fingerboard lends to easier string bending. The vintage case is stunning tweed and orange interior. If you locate one try it my friends, you'll see.

          SRV GUITAR & EXPERIENCE

          By Michael Berish

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I just recently bought this SRV Stratocaster. It is a fantastic guitar; sound great, works great. It comes with a really cool retro case, plus they even give you a cable & extra springs. Be careful in that the tension spring for the tremolo bar pops right out from the hole very easily (I already lost mine & had to re-order some). Also, the customer service I receive from their Winter Park, Fl. store was abominable. But, that doesn't mean the rest of the stores are like that.

          from Bucharest

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

i have this guitar for 3 or 4 years now.everything it`s excellent, sound, good body wood(i striped it to a relic form),aged the pickguard and knobs.my only real problem was with the setup and especially with the neck.the frets need to be polished and leveled,it will not allow you to do heavy bends without fret leveling and high action.light strings will sound too bright,i have equipped it with 012.all my guitars have 010.my personal opinion is that the guitar is really close to custom shop ones and if you have the time or the money do relic it.it will really improve the sound because you will loose the thick polyurethane paint.you can let the inner lair on so it will keep moist away.thanks

          Blues & Country

          By Chance-F.c5f

          from Central Coast, Ca

Comments about Fender Artist Series Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Look if you play country or blues this guitar will give you the correct sound. Next, the neck is very comfortable. If you have done research the neck is described as a thick oval and it is a bit thicker however I play with my thumb over and have no problem (I?m 6 foot tall). Also the trem takes a little getting used to but no big deal.
